When I was 14 years old the Circle Jerks did a tour of the Southeast US that left out my town, Nashville, so I sent them a comment on MySpace wishing them well and letting them know that they had some fans in Nashville (especially myself, because at that time they were my favorite band) in case they ever toured the area again. Keith personally messaged me letting me know that they'd added Nashville to the tour for me.
When I got there I found out it was an 18 and up show. All of the members of the Circle Jerks were mingling with the people in line, and when I was turned down at the door, Keith lead me around to the side door and let me in to the show and talked to me while he wrote and taped down the set list. He asked me what other bands I was into, so I rattled off names at random. He told me to listen to The Germs and The Weirdos as soon as I got home, and during their set he really talked The Weirdos up and made a lot of eye contact with me before they played "Solitary Confinement".
That was one of the most important experiences of my life, and my real introduction to punk. The guy is so kind-hearted and funny -- he really is the perfect ambassador to not only punk, but the virtues of being different in general. I'm glad that Elliott got to meet him at a young age like I did -- it looks like Keith worked his magic on him, too.

Just goes to show you the type of person he is.
He seems very approachable and friendly and funny.
I went to see Circle Jerks play back when I was 13 and much crowd surfing and stage diving was taking place. As I was lining up for my second stagedive a hand grabbed my vest from behind and I was being pulled backstage by a bouncer and promptly pushed out the back door. Before I could really think about what just happened, Keith pops out the same door saying "No thats fucked up man get back in" and took me back inside. Stopped his performance to get me back inside. Will never forget.

He's really not. He's really cranky, standoffish and disagreeable. (I've met him twice)
I totally understand why he's like that. He's old, worn out and highly sought after by intense people (which must get old).
The only reason he appears so docile and humble, is because there's a kid interviewing him. His attitude changes drastically when it's face to face.

He's a cool dude from what I've seen though so its possible he was just having a bad day when u met him, or he just didn't like you lol.
I know how you feel man Keith seems real down earth not to mention getting a chance to see OFF, FLAG, and a Circle Jerks reunion but that's just a dream...

Yeah Keith is cool but I notice in this kids interviews the musicians (including Keith ) don’t hold back on talking about getting high and drugs and so forth. Idk if a kid that young is interviewing I think you should hold your tongue a bit and maybe just talk about ur music but his parents know he does this so.....

Word is from people in his circle ( who most have kids) that he's referred to as" uncle Keith." He's really interactive with kids and buys them presents on their birthdays. As is obvious, just a genuine person all around to everyone. We should all be like Keith 👍
This is so cool. I was 15 when I started a fanzine and met some of the coolest people. My first interview was with Battalion of Saints in the back of their tour van at the SLC fairgrounds. That’s the beauty of punk rock. Everyone is accessible.

That was so cool. I remember seeing the Circle Jerks in the late 80's at Fenders in Long Beach when I was 16 or 17 and loved the show. Keith is so cool.
