The fact hunter said let's go flap at the end when he goes into the portal. It broke me. His scene of him crying due to flaps sacrifice hurts.
Bruh the scene where Luz called Hunter family made what happened near the end of the episode hurt more because dang it HE JUST HAD THAT REALIZATION THAT HE ACTUALLY HAD FAMILY DESPITE IT NOT BEING BLOOD (grimmwalker and all that) BUT BEING A CHOSEN FAMILY......AAAAGH
And how his voice catches just before he said that, it really hurt xvx

I can honestly get why Gus likes dinosaurs, palaeontology is a cool subject and Gus probably became interested into dinosaurs because he wanted to learn about past life
It kinda reminds of how Gus is autistic coded because dinosaurs is a really popular special interest for neurodivergents. Of course it's more likely that humans are gus' special interest but dinosaurs could be another or even a hyperfixation
He also lives on a giant skeleton, so seeing dino bones probably reminds him of home xD

Another think that the viewers (probably) missed is that when Luz is standing in the doorway to Camila’s room after her nightmare, I’m the corner of the shot you can see a trash can with a straightening iron in it, which could explain why Camila’s hair is straight at the beginning of the episode but is curly for the rest.

Another thing which ppl might have missed in this episode is that when hunter and luz search for belos in the old house hunter says "Ok Belos, Whats about to happen should be relatively painless" which is a call back to s2 ep1 since thats what he says when he first meets eda and luz
"What's about to happen should be relatively harmless, if you just do as we say"
Luz: *Heh heh... that was me a few months ago*
Amity also has a callback line when she mirrors Luz's words when she officially asked Amity out.

Though I wonder why isn't anyone talking about the fact that Camilla got some grey hair during the timeskip? This may be due to aging, but I think that it was also caused by all the stress of "being the mother of six" and getting Luz back but in such traumatizing circumstances.
She also might have been dying her hair to cover the grey, but that was one of the things she cut back on to save money.

The brown color Hunter's eyes change to are actually an exact match for Caleb's (you can see them in the OP bathroom mirror scene)
I'm still excited that I didn't notice his eyes changed color, but know now from watching this! ^_^ That his eyes match Caleb's nao (original recipe!) is very fitting and sorta bring li'l Flapjack full circle.
Remember some of the first times we see Flap, he's looking around trying to find his person?

I think it is a given that Luz's Palisman is a snake because just look at the "Egg"
It's not an Egg, it's a Snake curled up to look like an Egg, you can see the top of the "egg" with a small horizontal stripe that looks like a closed eye
while I agree and this is adorable, snakes don't have eyelids which suggests it might technically be a legless lizard
@@aceofnothing7469 While I agree, and snakes having no eyelids would be accurate, this is a carved cartoony snake, many palismen don't even look like realistic animals (unless massive bat queens with human faces and small demon imps exist irl and I just wasn't aware lol). Imo it's very possible it's a cute, cartoony snake with eyelids

In the start, hunter’s hair has the curl, making him look more like Caleb. He then cuts his hair and removes the curl to disconnect himself from that. When belos possesses hunter, the curl comes back, showing how he’s been dragged back into this place.
I think the changes of Azura's face is supposed to symbolise how in the start of the show Luz saw herself as the fun loving mc starting a witch adventure, but lately started seeing herself as a villian like how she expressed that in the classroom.
Hunter says he loves wolves and for the entire episode seems to fully be happier in the human realm. i think at the end of season 3 he will be living in the human realm full time and attending Luz's school, who's mascot is the wolf
This is what I think too, if it happens then that will make hunter so happy

little thing i noticed, the black sweater and cat ears between the Earthbound and Little Witch Academia costumes at 5:34 MIGHT be a nod towards Mae from the game Night in the Woods, as she is a black cat and has the same 'null' symbol on her sweater!
Also the goose palisman and matching poster in Camilla's clinic is probably a not-so-subtle homage to Untitled Goose Game, as the ultimate objective of that game was to be a goose and steal a golden bell, much like the ones held by the palisman and poster.

Yes! I wasn't sure about it and haven't get what exactly is this costume represents, but it was really familiar from the moment i saw it.
I like to think that as Flapjack willingly sacrificed themselves, their entire soul is now in Hunter's mindscape, as opposed to the fragmented Palisman souls in Belos'.
Flapjack dying was painful to watch. He helped Hunter grow so much and he gave his life so that Hunter could go on.
When Hunter starts sitting up after Flapjack's sacrifice, one of the background gravestones is layered above his leg.
You missed the part where Belos says “Goodbye Evelyn” when he breaks Flapjack. Which could mean Evelyn either IS flapjack, or the last piece remaining of Evelyn
or maybe Evelyn (who might be a clawthrone) made flapjack
we know that the Cawthorne's make palismen
Which could mean Belos is related to Eda if Caleb had a child with Evelyn
Everything ties up since clawthorns all have birds as palismen, as is Flapjack 🤩🐦
@@user-ou1rl2ln4v And also, Eda's father has a palismen similar to Flapjack, but it is yellow instead of red. Maybe his mother, Eda's grandmother, crafted his palismen for him and teached him how to make them, and that Eda's grandmother is Evelyn, Hunter's mother, is who may have crafted Flapjack.
Just a tought, tho. Sorry if that sounds pretty confusing, my first language isnt english-
The new colour of Hunters eyes are also a hint of the big brother little sister relationship between Luz and Hunter because they now have the same colour eyes.
For the guitar: it could also be Manny's since we see a lot of his stuff down there. For #7, Manny or Camila could also have been bi! (just a fun thing I like to imagine). Feeding a manatee might be closest to Vee because like... what's the closest animal we have to a basilisk? tbh her body shape makes me thing manatee too lmao. Also! Hunter's new eye color matches the shot we see of Caleb in the mirror earlier in the episode!
I had thought about that too, especially as the bracelet was on Camillia's bed side table. Also if she already knew that Luz was bi then Luz wouldn't feel she needed to come out. The bracelet is the style that a girl/woman would wear which probably rules out Manny. The Bi sticker on the guitar case looks like it's been there for years maybe which would, in my mind anyway, suggest it was there for either Camilla or Manny. But sometimes the writers like to throw these things in to see who's paying attention.

8:03 I just generally love how detailed that portrayal of betrayal is, especially with Luz
something that was missed is an error in the timeline. In season 1 episode 1, camila presents the summer camp sheet right after the snake incident, indicating that she already had the sheet before the snakes at school. However here in camila's dream, the summer camp sheet was introduced after the whole snake incident, meaning she got it after the snakes at school :0
I’m choosing to accept this continuity error by justifying it as, Luz brought live snakes to school more than once
I'm gonna say that it's the same day and Luz was told to sit outside of the office for a moment to wait for her mom while the principal talked to Camilla about the "summer camp"
It's a dream, she's remembering it wrong.
@@mrsplays9817 We never saw what happened fully at the office. We only know what Luz knows. We don't know if Luz was set outside for a second while the principal talked with Camilla since she also could have been misremembering that moment.

Whereas she just told her to promise to find a way back.
I do feel like there are 3 possible outcomes
1. S3-2 will focus on Eda and Luz won't be in the episode at all
2. Luz and friends will go to the in-between and then to the demon realm
3. The Deamon Realm wasn't shown because it was altered and Dana wants to keep it a surprise
4. Vee put back the items she trashed in Yesterday's lie
5. Willo made a duck face in a photo
6. Luz's school is the Wolves same animal Huntter loves
my other observations
Flapjack is a Male Cardinal since he is red. Female Cardinals are brown. This means if Flapjack turns out to be female that could mean some thing. This observation is pending farther explanation and lore.
Luz has a fanny pack. Flapjack hid in it. Her egg could be there. or there could be other ways to carry it.
Vee knows how to drive or at least was confident she could. Hope the house keys were available for Vee to get home and that maybe there was a spare car key too? Wonder if Vee will come out as a demon to her friends?
a few other things you didn';t say appear on other lists So I'll hold off from pointing them out but I can direct you to those lists if needed.
On the subject of Hunter possibly having magic now, his body is partly made from the same material as a palisman. Also, while a lot of people have been saying Hunter's change in eye color is to make him look more like Caleb, the shade seems a lot closer to Luz's eyes than Caleb's.
Something I noticed that not many people talk about is that post-possession, Hunter speaks much softer than he used to, even when he's trying to motivate Luz to fight back. This could be because Belos talking through him may have messed around with his vocal chords as there *is* scarring on his neck. Also something kinda sad is that his new scars may make it hard for him to fully smile from here on out.
I loved the detail about Caleb’s coat and Hunter’s eye color changing! And the fact that Belos could infect him due to that sewing cut makes a lot of sense :0

During the outfit scene Amity is wearing a shadow siren hat, specifically Vivian's, from Paper Mario and The Thousand year door. The Three Shadow Sirens are also mostly purple in their design.
Also, Mei from Night In The Woods is the costume in between Ness' costume and the Little Witch Academia costume.
I noticed that, it's funny that they would reference Paper Mario of all things lol

The "egg" palisman; someone inherently tied to Luz sporting a Trans icon's look (freeing Luz to wear an Azura costume, as we all, including Luz, would want); the fact that Luz has always felt out of sorts, when told to act ladylike or attempting to fit in with girls; and the facts of how Luz chooses styles that are either non-binary or masculine-coded, moving further into the masculine-coded attire over time, while never choosing anything purely feminine... Even the Azura costume is modified from a dress into a jacket and pants.
It feels... Deliberate.

Another hint at Luz's palisman being a snake is that Snakes are often portrayed in fiction as liars.
Regardless of whether you think she's justified or not, Luz lies a lot to a lot of people throughout the show.
In indigenous American folklore snakes are more attuned to the fact they shed their skin, which means growing as a person.
So along with the egg, it makes sense that there’s an emphasis on growth and change.
I don’t know how much Latin culture took after indigenous American culture, so I’m uncertain, but also feel decent about making the parallel

They did magic differently back then.
My theory, it started with glyphs, then moved to palisman after some bored carpenter witch took up a hobby of carving wood, a carving coming to LIFE soon after.
Once one of the palisman died through either natural means over years of use, or accidental cracking. The palisman would expel it's soul. If it had a good relationship with it's witch, they would imbue the witch with their life-force allowing them to cast magic. Giving them a bile sac as a side effect, that future descendants would inherit.
If it had a bad relationship, it would leave when not observed and become part of the isle.
A funny detail that was left out was that when Luz and her friends get teleported into the human world, it’s raining. However, Amity is afraid to touch rain in Thanks to Them despite already being in the rain. Lol
well its kinda hard to unlearn the habit of being afraid of acid rain
Worthy mentions:
- 2:49: the shorts amity is wearing are Luz’s from the first episode of toh [seen in 5:05]
- 6:23: the picture of Luz and Amity drinking from a cup I’m pretty sure is a reference to one of Dana’s drawings of the two before lumity even became a thing
Fun fact: Luz's name means Light in spanish and her first "spell?" was a light one :)
a little surprised that it wasnt brought up how during the rain scene, amity seems nervous about touching the rain since on the boiling isles is acid, but at the end of king's tide, they were all already standing in the rain. i guess you could say they were all too hurt, tired and stunned to even notice the rain? though it's probably just a continuity error haha

So what I’m thinking is that the magic recognizes that King was a Titan and wanted to react to the blood, but it couldn’t, so it just broke
Hey uh, you missed something- when Hunter and Luz first enter the old house with the masks, Hunter says “Alright Belos, what’s about to happen should be relatively painless, if you just do what we say,” which is a direct callback to what he said in his first appearance (“Hello criminals, what’s about to happen should be relatively painless, if you just do what I say”)
There’s another callback to something someone said in an earlier episode as well although i forgot it TwT
I forgot to mention that in the background you can also hear the same music that was playing when he said it in Separate Tides-

Fun fact, Luz's shirt she always wears has the same coloring as Azuara's.
I'd seen the scene of Flapjack dying many times before actually watching the series and it broke my heart. (Birds are my favourite thing.)
But now I've seen these characters grow and get close...Flapjack dying hurts so much worse now.
Considering Flapjack belonged to Caleb (Who was murdered by Phillip.) and spent so many years with the Bat Queen...only for Flapjack to be mortally wounded by the man who murdered Caleb possessing a clone of Caleb...ouch. 💔
Once you said the last sentence of the video the name of the episode started making so much freaking sense-
I have a theory that the reason Hunter is so scarred by being possessed by Belos is because Belos…was eating Hunters flesh… because it is made of palistrum wood. Also it’s likely this wasn’t the first time Hunter was possessed just by the similarities in color and shape of his old and now new scars.
i also noticed that in the scene right before luz and her friends came home there’s a picture of a missing poster for anne from amphibia which proves their human worlds take place in the same universe
Something I noticed: In the scene where Luz and Hunter are walking up the stairs and we get a look at their shadows, while everyone mostly saw the horns on Hunter's shadow, not as many people noticed Luz's shadow and how there appears to be something through it. I think it was a knife to represent backstabbing or even how Belos killed Caleb, with Hunter's shadow being Belos/Philip and Luz's shadow being Caleb.
On Willow’s shirt when they were doing the duo lingo rip off work, it showed the animal crossing mark.
Glad someone else noticed Tom Nook's leaf. 😁

I'm glad they kept all the emotional scenes as is, without jokes or funny sequences afterwards. It grounds the show, we'll at least have an amaszing start of a third season due the incompetence of those in power on dinsey
I love hollow knight and the owl house in the original opening scene you can see a knight plushie in the mountain of plushies that falls on king, so for the reference to be proven it is really cool

the ending. idk why it just made me so sad. i am so sad that flapjack died and i cried when he did. but he lives on in hunter. flapjack was the real hero. the reason hunter’s alive. the “it’s all thanks to them” at the end man 😭😭
Some other stuff:
- You can actually see Hooty in the intro Lumity Studios's photos
- In the end credit's illustrations, there is photos lying next to sleeping Hunter, they're actually the photos showing Hunter & Willow we saw in the photobook earlier in the episode (there's only color shapes but they represent the exact same images)
You missed another animation error that I'm apparently the only one who noticed because no one is talking about it
In the scene of little Luz with the snake there is an animation error in Camila's earrings it was black then for one frame it was yellow and then it changed to black again

There's one I also noticed, In the scene where Amity falls down from one of Flapjack's holes, her hair is completely lavender, the scene before her original hair (roots) were visible on the top of her head, after that scene they re-appear

Guess what the scene with hunter waking up after flapjack’s sacrifice was the first time we see him cry from sadness. Earlier on in the episode, he cries when he realises he is seen as part of the noceda family and has ppl who care abt him but that was joy not sadness… he didn’t cry in hollow mind or labyrinth runners, but he cried when flapjack died and it makes me sad.
One thing I haven't really seen many people talk about is just how sad and tired Caleb looked in that reflection during the intro montage

I wasn't the biggest fan of Camilla, but I understood her in the first 2 seasons. This season really made me love her though.
4:00 oh he ABSOLUTELY knows. After all, he's been in Belos' head! He's likely seen a lot about the Grimwalker stuff OR has at least seen Caleb in Belos' mind enough to know how kid Caleb looks exactly like Hunter. Also, the fact that the Derby team originally knew him as "Caleb".
Any way you go about it, whatever he saw in Belos' memories was ABSOLUTELY enough to let him know that some sort of clone shit is going on!
And he's being SO fuckin nice about it. He was gonna let Hunter come out about it on his own, and he was doing his damn hardest to let Hunter know that Hunter was safe with him, that he wouldn't judge him. I- 😢 😭 💕 Gus you sweet sweet boy you're such a great friend

Another thing that I found was at the start of this episode, you could see a news website on a tablet with text saying “Girl lost in frog land hoax?” With a picture of the main character from amphibia

Huh, I wonder if hunter will gain a second form. We see in a painting that Belos gained one even when his brother was alive. So it didn't take a lot of souls to transform. It could act like a mix of goop Belos and Harpy Eda.
Hopefully Hunter won't be goopy. I think Belos' goopiness helps display how evil he is. The antlers are pretty cool though lol

I doubt something as simple as goop is a sign of evil. After all, Abomination magic seems to be made of very similar stuff. Besides, being goop was like 90% of that power.
Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, Darius also has a goop form. So that is also a father figure of his that can do something similar.
I hope absorbing just one palisman isn't enough to cause him lasting harm. Guess we'll find out

Never had a "things you missed" bring a tear to my eye. Really brought out a couple deeper meanings for me ^^ Thank you.
1. I'm pretty certain Gus knows that Hunter is a Grimwalker. Not only does he tell Hunter about one of the characters in the book being a clone, but he later tells Hunter he's pretty sure another character from the book (I can't remember their name) already knows that the guy is a clone. Another thing I noticed in this episode is the the portal that they first tried to make you can see the portal flash to the in between, but just as it appeared it then burst into flames. But this shows that they could probably use palsiman (if you had enough of them) to power a portal between realms. It’s kinda useless information, but it’s still cool.

The idea of King's veins being the reason Luz wasn't able to use magic kind of falls apart when you remember that she was also wearing the key that had titan blood in it.
But the blood wasn't exposed to the air, so that could have been why
I have a theory: When Belos killed Flapjack he said "Goodbye, Evelyn" So I THINK that maybe Flapjack was connected to Evelyn somehow and thats why Flapjack liked Hunter so much since Cayleb and Evelyn were in love. ALSO Flapjack is a bird palisman and who's entire family has bird palismans? THE CLAWTHORNS meaning that most likely Eveyln was a Clawthorn and maybe Eda knows?
It also somewhat suggests that Hunter is a clone/zombie not of Caleb, but of Caleb and Evelyn's son, which makes sense since he has the appearance of a witch, but can't use magic naturally. He gets his witch appearance from his mother but his lack of magic from his father's human side.
