  • A few men and a couple Honda and Kubota engines making firewood. This is a fairly efficient operation, but there’s always room for improvement. Some MAJOR refinements coming to this operation in the coming months. #Eastonmade #Builtrite #Firewood

      Thanks! We had to get a special use permit to produce firewood on our property. We only have 3 months beginning January 1st to cut and split wood so we have to keep moving (and it’s only Monday-Friday) we are about 30 miles north of Atlanta. Most of our sales are in the north Atlanta area

    Hi - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. If you are open to ideas then I have one that struck me when admiring your operation. If you fabricated two vertical plates and located them each side from the back of the splitter blade to the conveyor thereby making a channel, the freshly split pieces should push the ones in front onto the conveyor without any operator involvement, similar to the principle adopted by Wallenstein. Keep on Splitting!

    Right on guys... nice operation.. how many cord per/hour with that many ppl? and Im assuming you guys split like hell for a week or so then only need a couple ppl to look after the rest of the operation. ?

      Thanks! We try to be as efficient as possible but there’s many variables that effect production. Between January 1 and mid March we ran this operation for a total of about 45 days (8 hour max per day) we made a little more than 400 full cords. On a good day we might get close to 25 cords or 3 per hour. Other days we may have may run a batch poor logs or have a breakdown and only make 5-6 cords. That’s just how firewood goes!

    The processing building is behind the big wood storage building, is that correct? How do you get all of that wood from one building to the other building? It looks like you sell some of the wood as packaged in crates, but the majority goes has bulk.
    What is the reason for the government restriction on the schedule of your activity on the property (if you know)?
    Perhaps the wood drops in a pile and is pushed all the way through the storage building to the front.

    Did you guys get ur 60c yet and when can we see some videos on it?

    • @eliteoutdoors2748
      @eliteoutdoors2748  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, the 60c is in. We have a video of unloading it and setting up that I will post in the next day or two. First video of it running will be another week or so. We run a full time landscape business and typically do not start cutting firewood until January 1st

      For most markets this would not be a profitable operation. In our market high quality seasoned oak and hickory firewood sells for $600-$700 per cord. This operation makes an average of $12,000 in product per 8 hour shift

      @@splitdoctor1993 no. We do not sell 20 cords per day. Firewood is a side business for us. We produce it for 8-10 weeks and then it dries for 10-12 months and it takes us about 16 weeks in the fall/winter to sell out
