    Normally Open = OFF when it's not powered (at rest).
    Normally Closed = ON when it's not powered (at rest).
    In electrical drawings they are represented at rest.
    Things get even more interesting with photoelectric sensors, with "light on" or "dark on" modes or when you need to invert the signal in the PLC :)
