      Steve,
dang. Awesome note man. Thanks so much for sharing. Yeah, this song is insanely beautiful and heart breaking in its simplicity of sentiment. And yeah, my passion recently has been to help better inspire and teach guitarists. I'm glad it's proving fruitful. Lmk how else i can help, Steve. Stay in touch, man.

Adam, Welcome aboard, buddy! That's the goal here. I try my best to go note for note and transcribe these songs personally as best I can. Then I teach em note for note in a slow, thoughtful, and hopefully optimistic and amusing way. Dive in, man! Have well over 200 tutorials on all your fingerpicking favorites!! Even if they're not favs yet, they will be soon! Join the MMM Discord and share your guitar journey.

Great lesson, Mike! I never realized how weird that intro is - thanks for sussing it out. Your advice about how to approach the guitar while singing the verses is excellent, and (as you point out) a great way to approach almost any fingerpicking song while you're singing. There's a guy named Fred Sokolow (old guy in my age group) who has a lot of instructional material out there, and his advice is very similar to yours. He says to first get used to where the chord changes are while in relation to the lyrics, then to just play the alternating bass parts while singing until you've got it down. Then add as much of the treble string notes as you can or want to. When I perform there are plenty of measures where I just play the bass part while I'm singing. Open G is such an easy key to improvise in that I'm not even bothering to learn the exact patterns on the verses of this particular song. Just get that signature slide in there where it's supposed to be, make sure the chord changes fall properly, sing like my supper depends on it, and we're all good!

Thanks. And yes, I dont know of Fred. I'll have to look him up. And yup, sounds a lot like the way i go about it!

I search this song maybe once a year, maybe less..
You're the first I've found... And thank you... I get you bro, nice style nice video.. I appreciate you for making it... I've got close to hearing this come out of my guitar once or twice but never pieced together the open G tuning or just how simple it is, for Bob I imagine he was in some zone where he just played without pretense or forethought... And that why this song is so so beautiful. One of my favourite.. So thank you once more.

I just found you today wanting to learn this exact song you‘re amazing!!! Especially because you also sing the lyrics to the songs which a lot of teachers on here don’t, helps me tremendously because i’m not too good at memorizing bars or timing so I kinda have to sing along and time the chord changes and licks with the lyrics.
One too Many mornings is also a absolutely beautiful song of his and maybe you could do a lesson on that one I’d be ecstatic!! :D

Thanks for commenting. I probably get more positive feedback on my banter and attitude than I do on the material itself. That being said, it's not for everyone. The last 2 years I've been time-stamping all the videos, and the "L" key is a millisecond away to jump ahead. Appreciate the feedback but sorry, the banter will stay.

34 minutes for this song is too long. many things are repetitive and the rhythm is lost

@@ilgenio1813 Again, lots of people like it slow and repetitive. Repetition is practice after all. And as I said, it's very easy to skip ahead and jump around. And if it's too long and the song is too easy, then just snag the tab, which I make available at no cost, and learn from the tab and stop watching the video. And if you don't find anything useful, and it's simply long and annoying, well...Nothing else I can help you with. I'd point you to another channel.
