Should be no suprise that people in the hobby will fuck over other hobbyists at rhe drop of a hat. Nobody in this industry has any real shame whatsoever.
The suspect in the white polo and hat appears to be talking on the phone as he’s walking down the aisle, then puts it in his pocket before distracting the 2nd dealer to make the window for the theft. Maybe there’s another suspect somewhere else in the venue watching the actual owner of the cards who was not present at the table at time of this incident, giving the green light to his co-conspirators by phone once confirmed the owner was also distracted and/or far enough away to not make it back during the heist. Wonder if the owner was having a conversation with someone at this same time and if they have that surveillance to ID another suspect?
All the comments bashing him, playing arm chair quarterback etc is very easy to do. Use that energy to good use and share the cards, images etc to help spread the word.

If this was not a highly coordinated INSIDE job (notice how even the vendors who were done being "distracted" kind of meanders a bit, not turning around, not one of them looking back at their table right away, but slowly doing so heistantly like they are waiting to be sure the "robbers" are clear of the area), this should be fairly easy to track where those guys are going. There are cameras everywhere nowadays. If they can easily backtrace Jussie Smollet's attackers from the scene of the hoax all the way back to their home via the street cameras, business camers, ring camers, car cameras etc.... This isn't some farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. This is a major hotel in the middle of a major city. If they wanted to, they can probably backtrace each person and know exactly where each of them went and what they did all day. Not to metion, all they have to do is identify one of those guys names (many ways to do that), get their cell number, and viola, gps-track them. That is, if it's not an inside job....
I was thinking same thing also. Notice how the last person distracted smiles when he gets called over to the side. Also when the first vendor is free he looks around like are they gone yet? I dunno just get weird feeling about it but who knows.
Could be. There are armed guards that carry that kind of money around in a Brinks truck and you have a case of cards worth millions sitting on a floor; unattended. Very irresponsible on the owner!!!
If the thieves are smart they will sit on this for 5 years minimum. Then sell it a little bit at a time over 10 years as raw cards. Or better yet just divvy it up and keep it for their personal collections.
Car thieves steal $100,000 cars, and get paid $500. The guys on film are long gone. Ring leader is likely a shady dealer, who's set up at that same show location a few times with the victim dealer ; (easy to check). He's watched the wealthy dealer carelessly exit with his big $ cards before. Likely the graded cards are cracked. In a few months, at shows far away, young paid criminals will go to a show and sell or trade the raw cards for expensive cards. PSA/SGC could provide a private link to the sponsors of large shows going forward, with clear photos of the stolen cards, which are provided to the paid dealers at each show.
Love all the jealous little boys here in the comments calling members of the hobby sleazy and presuming that the dealer here is committing insurance fraud... Talk about projection!

Why is it always 2 million doll hairs worth of cards getting stolen? This time, 2 million. Last time, 2 million. My prediction, next time 2 million. People, stop taking 2 million doll hairs worth of cards out of your house!!!!
Something else nobody is saying is that this is such a stupid selection to bring to a show. There’s an absurd amount of redundancy with those cards. You aren’t going to sell 5 Mantle ‘52 Topps at a show. The seller knows this, he’s been set up at shows for years. This is one of those, let me flex on everybody in the room cases and peacocking like this gets attention. People take notice. Personally, I’d feel naked with that much money laid out for all to see. Bring one of each card and if someone shows interest, you can explain you have different grades and meet up to make a deal at a different time. I guarantee this guy probably mails 50k cards USPS too. I’ve flown to deliver 10k cards. But, that’s just how different people value money. He has clearly forgotten what 1m is to 99% of the world, and what a decent chunk of those people would do to get it. Wake up call.
Your an idiot. Dumbest damn comment on here 🙄. You realize that celebrities and RICH people go to these kinds of things right? To say that he was only “flexing” his money is just an ignorant comment. Sounds like jealousy to me 😂😂
Notice the nervous perp walk out at 5:36 trying to exit around the family walking by, going left and then right, attempting to shield his face from camera and then hurriedly pushing and knocking the poor kid with blue shirt without any acknowledgement or apology. For those saying fraud, this suggests to me a level of desperation and non-pros trying to be pro. May these fools be caught quickly and pay their penance many times over.
Hopefully the owner has alerted the big 3 (PSA, SGC, BGS) of the theft so they can be on the lookout for these cards coming in for grading; IMO it would be a red flag for someone to submit them for grading. Also letting the bigger card shops like Burbank know to be on the lookout for them, in the end they may have no avenue for selling them. And if everyone floods social media with the news and shares it there will be no way to unload them at all.
So many video cameras these days. With a theft of this dollar amount, no way they get away with it. People generally get away with theft because the police can't prioritize that particular case. Close to two million dollar theft will be a priority. The dealer is a really good guy so this sucks.
@@zachpierce641 I think with the publicity this has gotten in the card community it will be really hard to move these cards. This is also unfortunate as the thieves will probably sit on these cards now unless they have a specific collector they sell to that won't let these see the light of day.

There needs to be more security. I was there and suspected someone was stealing, but I wasn't sure enough to make an accusation. Something seemed off about the guy.
reminds me of a case where cards were burned in a house fire. Anyone who has such an expensive collection has done a lot of things right in their lifes. Still, it's amazing that people save money at every turn instead of saying: You've put together something great.,How about insuring yourself against a "life fucks you up you didn't see it coming" moment for a fraction of the cost? hope he gets it back. noone no matter the $ amount deserves to loose their collectionpieces.

You’d think for as much as these dealers have to pay for tables, that the show would have better cameras, and more of them. Cameras at every entrance/exit, this happened after hours, so how were these guys there? Because it’s an understaffed underplanned underbudgeted and underwhelming type of operation. I can say that because I’ve been and walked right in without anyone asking, and I’ve seen it all, basically. At least they have security (I think 4 off duty cops)… Who is regulating in and out after hours? Why do we only have one camera angle from a potato? Why aren’t there officers in this room? So many things I’ve seen that I just don’t get when I’m there. Way too lax and unorganized and on and on.
This is the worst, thiefs could get caught easily by collectors if they summon their prescreening skills to look through videos from the event, fingers crossed
Call my cynical but if I owned that much inventory at those prices, am I just leaving it in a black case, under a table, while my backs are turned? I understand the video shows a "coordinated" team of people distracting the people working the booth but when I see people pack up from shows, I see them leave the cases on top of the table, in eye view, so they can watch them and if someone walks up to them, they always seem to have 1 eye on their inventory? I have never seen anyone pack away this level of inventory and place under a table like it is some box of supplies for your office? Again, hope they get their stuff back if this is legit but with sports cards being in the new recently with the last "theft" in Cleveland (I believe), is it beyond the realm of possibility that these folks need to "make some cash" quick, knowing the cards could be returned and their claim would be based on todays prices vs. what they went for 4+ years ago? Great Video NEO as always
Ill be sharing this and blasting it out on instagram. This type of shit boils my blood, youd think they would have insurance on this inventory / a collection worth this much. A million dollar insurance policy on a collection of this caliber wouldn't be that expensive. These dudes are idiots and as soon as the camera footage gets enhanced ,those dudes are cooked , as they clearly show their faces and will be made by someone guaranteed. At least one of them is gunna go down and they will flip on the others, you just watch!
No surprise at all, the stuff is advertised, people on UA-cam and all over internet advertising what they got, they had plenty of time to case the joint and prepare, no security, moving around millions of dollars worth of rare collectibles like they’re Girl Scout cookies, easy heist…DUHHHH!!!
Yes, they should intentionally cripple attendance at all future shows in the name of “security”. Btw, do you like TSA checkpoints? Do you consider them effective?
Just awful, I blame the flipper community for bringing in all of these bad actors into the hobby. It’s not supposed to be a business it’s just supposed to be a fun hobby but now days half the people in it only care about how much money they can make flipping. Unless cameras catch him, he’s just going to break them out of the slabs and sell them raw or just regrade them. They are mostly likely just gone sadly.
I hate quick flippers too, but "it's not supposed to be a business, it's just supposed to be a fun hobby" is out of touch. The dealer with $2 million in vintage wasn't doing this as a fun hobby. Even if a "hobbyist" is buying a 100K Mantle card, he wants it to hold value or appreciate, even if just being left to the kids. I remember the 80s, junk was era, people buying packs and then seeing what they were worth in Beckett magazine. Card shows existed then too, with dealers selling expensive cards, and kids trying to get 10 or 20 bucks for a card they just pulled. It's always been a combination of hobby and business. If it were just a hobby, people would mostly trade cards and the most expensive cards would be like $5. Acting like cards have ever been just a hobby since at least 1980 at bare minimum is out of touch.

Let's face it those who own lots of expensive cards love posting them on Instagram, FB, TikTok, etc. You just know the thieves were studying and keeping tabs on the owners of these cards. They probably knew what kind of case they were stored in to be transported to shows from social media posts. I almost guarantee it.

The idea that they don't have security with millions of dollars laid out on a table infront of them is just ridiculous tbh
Cameras outside the hotel and shopping center across the street if they parked there. I think they will be caught
there's cameras everywhere. anything with this type of money involved would make a police department famous so they will get every camera in the city to track them. it's impossible to do this stuff anymore. especially with cell phone tracking data and social media recording everything. and once one card is submitted or sold it will be compared to these ones under a microscope by the community. the only way they're not caught is if they're illegals and they smuggle them out of the country and just sit on them and do private sales in cash
Then “the henchmen” will be caught. What about “the mastermind”?

Gotta put some blame on the DCS. This is no where near the first time this has happened on a high value level. Not to mention the numerous times small theft has occurred and not gotten this attention.

Hopefully they kept the chairs Separate to dust for finger prints given all the chairs he touched
All the comments bashing him, playing arm chair quarterback etc is very easy to do. Use that energy to good use and share the cards, images etc to help spread the word.
It’s also easy to cheese the dealer like you’re doing and thoughtlessly absolve him of any guilt, when he’s clearly one of the main suspects in his own theft. That’s if you don’t worship the man.
Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize who the main suspect usually is…

That's what I was immediately thinking, to get insurance money.
I was thinking same thing also. Notice how the last person distracted smiles when he gets called over to the side. Also when the first vendor is free he looks around like are they gone yet? I dunno just get weird feeling about it but who knows.
I would also like to see when they notice the case is missing.
Anyone’s that has said the same thing on the dealer’s post in sportcard nonsense are getting their comments deleted and blocked from the post.
Could be. There are armed guards that carry that kind of money around in a Brinks truck and you have a case of cards worth millions sitting on a floor; unattended. Very irresponsible on the owner!!!
At 6:31, the one distractor in the white shirt even runs into the little boy in the blue shirt in a hard way and with a heavy push.
If the thieves are smart they will sit on this for 5 years minimum. Then sell it a little bit at a time over 10 years as raw cards. Or better yet just divvy it up and keep it for their personal collections.
A+ tier collection
0 tier security with table run by highschool kids 😢
Should of had the cops dust those chairs for prints

Why bring 2 million worth of cards to one show? 100k worth of cards is enough
Looks like insurance fraud to me. No sane person just leaves a case full of millions of dollars in valuables just out in the open on the floor

WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH HIM BEING RIPED OFF, YOU MO RON!!!!!

For those saying fraud, this suggests to me a level of desperation and non-pros trying to be pro. May these fools be caught quickly and pay their penance many times over.
They were never pros just because they succeeded.
Also could be an inside job for the insurance money. How do you leave that case that far away from you unattended. IDK Man looks shady
This is only going to hurt that venue unless they promise competent security next time.
How is it going to look when they force dealers to have less staffers at the table at the National and something like this happens again?
Show closed at 4pm today - how are these guys still in the space after 6pm
Hopefully the owner has alerted the big 3 (PSA, SGC, BGS) of the theft so they can be on the lookout for these cards coming in for grading; IMO it would be a red flag for someone to submit them for grading. Also letting the bigger card shops like Burbank know to be on the lookout for them, in the end they may have no avenue for selling them. And if everyone floods social media with the news and shares it there will be no way to unload them at all.
Feels like a insurance scam why bring so many dups of high value cards

So many video cameras these days. With a theft of this dollar amount, no way they get away with it. People generally get away with theft because the police can't prioritize that particular case. Close to two million dollar theft will be a priority. The dealer is a really good guy so this sucks.
What sucks is they might catch the guy, but what about the money. Unless you find the cards, you’re never going to recover that money.
@@zachpierce641 I think with the publicity this has gotten in the card community it will be really hard to move these cards. This is also unfortunate as the thieves will probably sit on these cards now unless they have a specific collector they sell to that won't let these see the light of day.

What's the insurance payout?
Insurance won't pay out for neglect like this..... especially at 7 figures

Just awful, I blame the flipper community for bringing in all of these bad actors into the hobby. It’s not supposed to be a business it’s just supposed to be a fun hobby but now days half the people in it only care about how much money they can make flipping. Wrong mentality. This is vintage . People even outside of collecting cards know vintage is valuable. Most influencers couldn’t care less about vintage
