1883, a Yellowstone origin story, follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. From Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan, co-creator of Yellowstone, 1883 is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land - Montana.

the actor of elsa was a great pick. perfect fit. and she carried my feelings and my heart the whole time. I cried tears when .. it happened! she was so wild at heart and loved the nature like herself.. really great everything!
AGREE, 😥🙋♀️🤠 💞 from Texas
I have no desire to watch New Yellowstone, it doesn’t compare to the beauty, the struggles of Elsa Dutton her family, the immigrants, Ennis, Sam what a beautiful portrayal of the west and its dangers but it has spoken to my heart and I go back and watch clips from the movie. Thank you Mr. Sheridan for your knowledge of the west and how it really was🥲❤️🙏🇺🇸💚
So sad that she's died in the last episode, because I don't know if will be the same 1923 without her fire in her soul, love for the land and earth, love for the life and family. I think she made raising the value of the TV show.
Sorry but after knowing Elsa in 1883, Beth and Monica and other female characters in Yellowstone means nothing to me now...
You said it. The character of Elsa really spoke to me. You never see characters like her in modern settings and now the modern characters seem so flat.
Absolutely, it's like a soap opera vs Titanic, no comparison between trash and beauty... Elsa is a beautiful character for the ages.
Elsa steals your heart. The Yellowstone characters can be spoiled and unlikable.
I agree, I don’t like Beth, she shows nothing but greed, selfishness, cussing like a sailor…no forgiveness for no one, even her family…she plays an evil prison that I would never want in my life…
Love her voice of narration.
Me too!
Same
Got to admit you pretty much nailed this with absolutely everything.. She needed to live in my opinion because she was just the best thing I’ve seen on tv for years, but that was down to a great team too..
Growing up in the uk with me grandad gave me a dream of living in this era and I loved lived every minute with the show and got me thinking about me granddad and his last days without his legs outside in his wheel chair looking up at the trees as the wind pushed the leaves dreaming his next life would be that of a cowboy.. He would have loved this…

I watched Yellowstone 1883 last week, I'm still saddened by Elsa's death.
It was so tragic. This and the last episode of Season 4 of Stranger Things have to be among the saddest TV episodes of the decade
this shit hurt on so many levels
Taylor Sheridan said on jre that we were told what happens in the first scene.. damn he wasnt lying
I wish it had a second season!!!😭😭😭😭
People shit on the narration but it's supposed to be by an 18 year old girl who never makes it beyond that age.
After watching the fantastic horsemanship in Yellowstone, it was funny to see everyone calling Elsa the "Lightning" while she rode that horse like a snail!
In particular, in the episode that she was being chased by the horse thieves, in a perfect shot there were a dozen bad guys behind her while she was casually trotting the horse with a smile!
The way they were treated is sickening they deserve there land back
Ya those Indians where savage's how they killed Elsa and scalped folks
Elsa and Ennis!!!
Ivanka goes west?
Gad damn blonde haired women are so attractive.
Especially blond haired black eyed women.
Elsa is annoying. From the beginning, she acts as a perpetual victim.
What? Seems like not watched the serie or u are just too dumb to understand anything. Elsa as a victim...lmao, what a noob comment.
Elsa was the heart and soul of 1883. Without her narration and Isabel May's performance this wouldnt have been the same. Still really good but not great. Seeing the world through her eyes for both the good and the bad up until the end was a beautiful, heartbreaking yet cathartic experience.
I'll never forget you Elsa.
This is one of the best if not the best show on television today.
All of Taylor Sheridan’s shows have been excellent, but I still think Stranger Things is the best show on television today.
This is such a great series. Can't wait for Yellowstone Season 5 and 1923 along with the 1883 Bass Reeves Story
1923?
@@magnusbarth6671 and 6666
@@magnusbarth6671 If that's a question. 1923 is another prequel to Yellowstone, but after 1883. With Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.
Yep l am pissed they won't continue it
Nooooo Elsa.....I love her smart wild heart
Elsa, they let her die far too soon. The way she played her part was breathtaking
ppl back then didn’t live long.. the world was cold harsh back then
Oh I love this movie I can't wait till season 5 starts when is it going to start do you know we're looking forward to it it's such a beautiful story
Recently finished viewing the entire DVD set for 1883. While aspects were gut-wrenching and well acted, in my opinion. some of the script was a bit "over-the-top" and not quite reaching the stellar levels of Yellowstone. Overall though, a solid and entertaining series with the narration of Isabel May.
#GetWokeGoBroke
The Yellowstone tv series is toast! After this it ain’t worth watching!
01:02 I would have thought it would be cooler for her to see a jackalope instead of just a jackrabbit….
Foi emocionante a serie toda, Isabel uma benção para nossos olhos que atriz, apaixonante.
I wept in a way I never had before, solitary tears streaming down my face as I watched. The sorrow lingers even now.
The biggest issue I have with this mini-series is the number of narrations. I like them from time to time but they were used too much.
again leaving the original owners wrong?
So called original owners stole it before them .
The style is kinda like Terrence Malick.
For 19th century people from the south, these folks were super progressive; Everybody smiles with acceptance that the leader's daughter sleeps with men in public. Interracial relationships are welcomed. Low cut dress is encouraged! And the father just accepts the daughter's freedom!
I don't know, the narration was annoying. Unless the show was specifically targeting the female demographic, I think it was too much.
Seems like you just doint understand the movie, it was well explained everything. You are someone who just looking but not watching.
Why do they always cast an australian to play these lead female roles? It's embarrassing...lol.
She is obviously a beautiful lady...but her accent is obvious, and offending.
All the acting is subpar compared to Yellowstone.
Is 1883 a real series?
Isabel May is an American actress not Australian, she sounds no where near an Australian accent. She was born in California so no unfortunately she’s not going to sound as “authentic” as example: Tim McGraw. Whom was born in Louisiana. Quite a difference. At least not as authentic as you seem to wish for. I think for someone that did not share the same background, however, she deserves credit where credit is due. Rather than the belittlement you’ve given her over a nonexistent background.
Something far more “embarrassing” rather than her lack of ability to meet your standards considering a simple Google search could have provided you with that information. She spent quite some time getting into character for this role and to be honest, I think this series is far better than Yellowstone. Yellowstone has its decencies, the writing is nice but it was also nice to step back into the past in a series that took you into a perspective of the world. That showed more of its beauty than hardships, yet found a way to share both through the eyes of a beautiful character. Nice to take a brief break from all the fast paced material.
Her accent is written in the script. The character is from Tennessee. Her accent you hear is to copy the way people from Tennessee enunciate their words.
@@Tammy-L-S exactly! I 100% agree. She’s meant to have a specific draw to it.
Absolutely useless series. 😑
Useless how? You weren't entertained even for a moment? I will agree that this series was a bit closed ended, and those that speculate there will be a second season are sure to be disappointed to learn that Taylor Sheridan only wrote the one season to set up the origins of the Yellowstone story.
It was a well acted, well written piece of work. It told the story it was written to tell, how is that bad I ask.
@@markk3652 Boring is more appropriate description 😴.
@@grizzlybear6053 differences are nice, that's what makes us people.
It really is.
Absolutely useless comment.
Jennifer Lawrence should have had the female lead in this picture. The current lead looks like her.
LOL absolutely not
No way. This was a perfect pick for the role. She is wonderful.
Absolutely not, she is mediocre, she would have ruined the whole character.
1883 absolutely sucks, You went in the wrong direction focusing on the women instead of Sam Elliott
You absolutely sucks, you went into the wrong direction with your comment, you should just go watch some mediocre netflix sht. :D
