Dark of the Moon has an interesting setup where Optimus' accessories give the feeling of the damaged Megatron as the underdog.
Defeating Optimus as Megatron was way more fun than defeating Megatron as Optimus, despite how devastating the end was.
Defeating Prime as Megatron was easier than Defeating Megatron as Prime
