The way I cried during the last half. As someone struggling with an ED for over 36 years now, I felt so seen. It was so close to my experience, including the way the mother was. They're all doing so good with this!
I screamed when Hayley Atwell showed up as Aunt Diane. I've loved her from the first moment I saw her as Peggy Carter in the MCU and her Black Mirror episode is one of the best. She was also in the latest Mission Impossible movie. I just love her so much and I think she crushed it as Diane
I like Charlie's mom because it is a good example of a parent who does love her child but is going about things in the wrong way. I'm 27 now, but in high school both my sister and I struggled with eating disorders and my mom was trying her best but wasn't perfect all the time. I wasn't dating and I was maintaining all As so she didn't have to worry about all of those things as well like Charlie's mom does. I'm not saying that Ms. Spring is doing a great job, but I sympathize with her as an adult who can look back and see how hard it is to be a parent
It's always been pretty obvious that Charlie's mom does want the best for him and does love him, but I also feel she doesn't understand him. That's why their interactions are always at cross-purposes. She takes a rather harsh, authoritarian tack when a softer more sympathetic tone would work better. Charlie is a very sensitive and somewhat fragile lad. Charlie's dad seemed to understand this in the first two seasons. Mom causes Charlie to put up his defensive screens, perhaps like when he was bullied. Of course, I could also say Charlie should understand where his mom is coming from, too, but this is beyond the ken of most young people. I was an odd fish when I was Charlie's age because I did listen to what my parents said and acted accordingly, if somewhat begrudgingly, most of the time. Not so my brother, though! which caused him and my parents a lot of grief. Looking back on those days, I realise now that, more often than not, my parents were right and knew what they were talking about. Experience with life's vicissitudes does count for something.
Definitely understand what you're saying! As evidenced in the later episodes all it took was some communication and for her to soften towards him a bit to open up their relationship. So glad they seem to be on the mend!
I was 16 and my sister was 19 when I told my parents about her suffering from bulimia. She weighed 95 lbs. I'll never regret doing that because it saved her life. She has been there for me many times since then.
ik we love to applaud Kit for his acting but we NEEED to give Joe his props. As someone that has and is still struggling with an ED, his representation of the feeling is probably the most accurate i’ve seen, at least in my experience. He needs some type of award bc his acting is absolutely amazing!
Representation in media is so important but you are absolutely right that the lgbt rep is not the only rep in the show. I personally don’t think of myself as part of the lgbt community but I feel so represented in this show when it comes to anxiety, OCD, disordered eating, struggling with confidence, sense of self, friendship groups etc. The representation in this show is so much more diverse than just lgbt representation. It’s so special to me. I love these characters ❤️
I binge watched the whole season yesterday and it sure was a roller coaster of emotions, a lot of tears and different sorts of crying. Weirdly enough, I think this is my favorite season so far! This show and the representation really is needed. I'm 34 now and I wish I had this show as a teen. Now I want to re-read the comic books (I've read up til about halfway through this season before). Can't wait to watch you react to the rest of the season!
This episode had its moments, especially when it tackled not just representation in the LGBTQ+ community but in eating disorders or mental illness, etc. I really love how not only did Joe and Kit give a great performance in their characters this episode, but Haley did a great job as Aunt Diane, especially when she had to give Nick advice on that love can help but it cannot cure everything. It takes more than love. I can say that I have personal experience from what Nick is dealing with. 🥺🤧💔❤️🩹
When you touch your heart gently with your hand and smirk, it's giving Jordan Smith mannerisms and I'm waiting for you to break out in SIA song, and kill us lol.
I think the problem with the min especially what we learn from her later is she’s trying to overcorrect a mistake she hasn’t made yet and then that becomes a problem and she doesn’t know how to deal with it so then she lashes out which then turns into an even bigger problem and becomes her mom was never loving to her it’s like she grabbed on to Charlie and won’t let go even when he’s okay
I don't think Charlies mom is always right, but I can also see that she's trying and literally doesn't know how. I had mental illness diagnosed to me as a teen. And I had the most loving mom, but due to my issues, we still couldn't alwsys communicate
Not me asking ChatGPT about the school system in Britain like what are GCSEs and what does grade/mark 9 mean or "sixth form" 😂 Love your reactions greetings from Germany
I can’t stand Jane she is so hard on Charlie. I think that’s why he has an eating disorder along with being bullied and being used by Ben. I feel bad for Charlie I just want to hug him.
i honestly get the mom cause Charlie does depend on Nick a lot .. so i get her concern and i also feel like she kinda see or feel that Charlie is not okay but bc she doesn't know how to talk to him she doesn't say anything to avoid a conflict .. again bc of Nick and his school work etc..

omg sending you so much love ❤ hope you're able to find some solace with this show. they really do know how to nail it!
Mrs. Spring hug your child just once challenge 😭😭
No literally like she's so mean wtf 😭
In the comics however, she opened up about having a toxic mother, which is why her actions have always been so harsh
@@TheyreCryingthis happens in a later episode
joe absolutely destroyed me in ALL his performances. he deserves all the praise!! he’s rlly the star this season⭐️
Such a star!!!! Can’t wait to see more of him in the future!

Black Mirror!!! That’s where we know her! We thought she was so familiar haha but we’ve seen that episode several times so that makes sense!
It might also explain why Nick is a Marvel fan ;)
@noemisarah98 right? His mom, aunt, and boyfriend have all been Marvel actors so he's just being so supportive of their careers lol
Joe broke me in the phone call scene...
He is such an underrated actor 😭 one of the best performances we've seen this year tbh!
Joe Locke needs an Emmy for this season. Let’s campaign and make it happen
completely agree!

Charlie, Tao and Isaac are one academic year below the others. They sit their exams next year.
ah that makes sense thank you!
Aunt Diana validating Nick's feelings is everything 😭
She is so Mother in every way!!

I really wish I had a show like that in my early teenage years tbh. Representation is so important
representation like this is quite literally life changing. so glad to have it!
The selfie Nick took is giving Grindr
hahaha yep 😂

definitely was our favorite season too!! loved the way it so effortlessly matured without feeling awkward. just felt normal!
The little car, it’s a Mini. The original and how it should be. They are amazing and should be worshipped
we are definitely worshipping 😂

So hard to watch but amazing to see. And of course Joe played it perfectly!

If Ben shows up in season 3 even ONCE, imma lose my shit
he doesn’t

Oh trust we did all of this off-camera lol 😂🙈
Where go you guys get your hoodies? I love both of them. ❤❤
I can’t stand Jane she is so hard on Charlie. I think that’s why he has an eating disorder along with being bullied and being used by Ben. I feel bad for Charlie I just want to hug him.
Exactly!! Like obviously in a later episode it’s kind of explained why she’s like that but it doesn’t excuse it
❤Haley Atwell!!!
I’m right there with you on coming for Jane Spring I can’t stand her she needs therapy
i honestly get the mom cause Charlie does depend on Nick a lot .. so i get her concern and i also feel like she kinda see or feel that Charlie is not okay but bc she doesn't know how to talk to him she doesn't say anything to avoid a conflict .. again bc of Nick and his school work etc..
Kitty! 7:53
I have been the Nick in this situation, but it was much, much worse. It's unspeakably difficult.
Yah this 1 broke me also, no spoiler but this is the tip, Best line of the whole season Thats love darling ❤
I'd go to Nando's with him...is that Indian food? I like chicken tika masala.
No if’s more traditional like chicken, fried, corn on the cob etc. it’s so good!
@@PettyPumpkins ohhhh ok! I was thinking of Tandor, an Indian restaurant in Kentucky.
