- Former Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has pushed back against billionare tech magnate Elon Musk's comments on electronic voting machines (EVMs), labelling them as a "huge sweeping generalisation" without basis.
Elon Musk, in a post on X, had raised concerns about electronic voting machines, suggesting they should be eliminated due to the potential risk of being hacked by humans or AI, even if the risk is minimal.

Musk is correct. Live network connectiviry is not the issue.
The issue is that the ordinary voter cannot insoect or trust software like they can trust paper ballots that leave a paper trail and can be counted in front of him or her.

@@bharatp5569 So far , in last 10-15 years no one could prove that EVMs can be hacked or tampered with. Our Supreme Court also is convinced on the integrity of the product and has given their judgement. The challenge is still open .. prove it live and then open your mouth. Stray comments have no value.

While Indian EVMs are safer due to being a dedicated platform it is still possible to do a hacked update. And there is still no paper trail or recount.
And if software and hardware is not inspectable by the average person how can they trust any results?
There is an open challenge by the ECI -- hack an EVM, show it live, with acceptable witness.
Musk is not an expert on our EVMs, he may know about US and European machines, which are interconnected and accessible by networks.
India's machines are standalone, not connected to bluetooth, wifi or any other way to any other network or machine.
