For all you adults out there wishing this had happened at your school… let’s send this to our teacher friends and hope some other schools eventually start doing this!
As a teacher, I use it for my lower students to practice reading. I even have people donate cards for my classroom. They love it and I love it.

I LOVE that instead of shutting it down they embraced it and worked to incorporate it into school! That’s SO big! I hope other schools incorporate this!
I remember that Pokémon cards were banned in the elementary school I went to
I wish. I want that too as an adult and assistant teacher who grew up with Pokemon. But, there’s a reason why they are banned. Because, some fights break out. But, I agree that needs to be nurtured.
@@coreylucas5346 Agreed, there are many behavioral outbursts that can be caused by cards. That's why limiting the time cards are allowed out, or mentoring the kids in proper behavior around games and collectibles, is essential.
My school does this!
As a teacher, i completely agree. There is a pokemon card craze at school and I bring my own cards on fridays. Kids are always excited to play and show me the new cards they got

I worked for a school where I tried to start a Pokémon club for the kids but their response was to ban and outlaw them from the school. It’s so sad when people’s hearts are cold.

I remember in the 1999/2000s when it was new schools/parents tried to label it as demonic and evil. Not in my country but other countries. They didn't want kids to have fun.. Kids just traded cards and played games with it during the school breaks back then. They couldn't stop it.
This video seems such a nice 360 flip from that era of calling it evil. Very nice to see
I remember as a kid when it first came out constantly hearing how Pokémon was just “a fad” or “nonsense” especially from adults, but 25 years later we proved them all wrong (for the record I’m turning 36 in September). To me, Pokémon is still an important part of who I am and directly influenced my style and aesthetic as an illustrator and graphic designer. Watching this made me cry as my own young nieces love and cherish Pokémon as much as I did as a kid, and my older sister is encouraging them along the way and even asks me about some of the colorful monsters. I love being able to share with them my memories and guide them with the games and cards. My very first themed deck I ever bought with my own money was “Water Blast” because Vaporeon is one of my all-time favorite Pokémon.
This is what Pokémon is all about: not people arguing and complaining about random stuff, but kids just having a fun time
This is exactly what I'm trying to do with my before and after school class. I've been playing since I was their age, and it truly is magical to share that with them. I've got them playing the TCG, reading the cards themselves, figuring out what the text means, and how that translates to the board, doing the math for damage, etc. Anyone who claims you can't learn from it just hasn't tried in my opinion.
It's almost beautiful that the kid who brought it back was named Ruby. I love this.
I ran a Pokemon card club for middle schoolers when I was in high school. I saw the impact it had on the students- some students that were incredibly shy came out of their shell, new friendships were made, and students who didn't get along found a way to resolve their differences through battles and trading. It also became the highlight of my week along with the students I led. It also inspired me to become a teacher. I have one year left in college, and I hope to start a club like this at whatever school I begin teaching at.
This warms my heart and really makes me feel good about the world! I have kids of my own and my oldest absolutely loves Pokémon just as much as I do. Pokémon does way more than what people think. Growing up my parents and teachers enforced the harshest punishments if we brought cards to school. I'm glad to see things have changed!!
As a educator this is amazing!!!! Children learn through interaction with others, and this gives them not only the connection but the opportunity to play.
This felt like the beginning of those shounens where the entire school is into the *insert game here*, and that's how they settle disputes.
This was so heartwarming. In the secondary school, in the area where I live in the U.K., I barely knew anyone who was a fan of Pokémon especially the Pokémon anime. So, I didn’t really make many friends. There is a Pokémon Club in my school but it is only for Pokémon TCG card battles playing against each other. I have been a Pokémon anime fanatic for many years but I was very new to the Pokémon Trading Game and nobody actually taught me how to play but played for me instead which was sad. They should have also involved Pokémon video games, watching and discussing about Pokémon anime and manga too or just collecting Pokémon cards or merchandise. But seeing these kids trade Pokémon cards with each other shows you don’t have to learn Pokémon TCG game rules to use Pokémon cards. You can collect and trade them for fun.
As a teacher, never shut down what students like/enjoy. I once opened a Brilliant Stars pack in front of my students and pulled a Greedent VMAX and the students went wild, it was amazing!
Oh and sharing my own experience during the peak 90s-2000s era and sharing it with the current trainers, its a beautiful feeling.
So if the students like sex, kids mind you, would you allow that? Insanity. The left needs help.

This is precious. We had something similar during lunch break at my primary school (in the Netherlands). I'm 27 now, and I still smile when I think of those days.
Great documentary . It’s so true and heartwarming. I also work in schools and I’ve had opportunities to talk to children about Pokémon and it’s always been positive ! With some of the older children
(I usually work with kindergarten aged children) I might try playing the TCG with them. It’s wonderful to tap into the enthusiasm children have for Pokémon (and us older fans too). It’s lovely to hear about how it inspired the whole school to connect too !
I'm a teacher who uses Pokemon cards at school. The kids definitely do enjoy being able to play with the cards, earn cards, and show off their collections. There's plenty of opportunity to include cards in lessons thanks to the reading and math in the game mechanics. Plus the storyline provides chances to have thoughtful discussions, such as the effects of bullying and revenge from the Team Star subplot in Scarlet/Violet.

As someone who grew up with Pokémon and now an assistant teacher this warms my heart.
As someone who recently left the teaching profession, this kind of wholesome content makes me miss it. I loved Pokémon and still do and loved when the kids brought our their cards and I brought out mine. It's amazing what Pokémon has done through generations. It's great seeing how they just love the cards for what it is, not the market value and such.
If you didnt know, there are 3 vids, this one, the family and the enthusiast, they show different caracteristics of wich, trading, playing the game and selling/gifting. I love this triangole
I used to host After School Pokémon club at our local library. Provided parents and kids links to Pokémon Tournaments, Go Community Events, Trade Nights, and Websites for Pricing. It was fun teach kids through the Trading Card Game, Video Game, and PoGo. Covid hit and I loss my job and couldn't set up a meet up.
Pokemon really brings people together in a wholesome environment.
My daughter attended this school and this is one of the many magical things that they do.❤
it really breaks down barriers for student communication and building bridges across grade levels and teacher to student. I've been running a Pokémon club for about two years at my school and it's been a blast! I never got to learn how to play the TCG growing and teaching students how to play the game , make wise trades is something I wish I had growing up. Now I get to enjoy teaching my students the game and share the love for Pokémon together!

Almost 30 myself and I can tell you that I will always cherish and remember the awesome memories I made showing off and trading my pokemon collection with friends during lunch and recess, It's honestly making me emotional to see how the kids of today are making great memories and new friends as well through pokemon that will last a lifetime.

happy to see this, 20 or so years ago I remember seeing some fellow middle school students with pokemon cards, a nearby teacher promptly grabbed them and threw them in the trash. Times sure have changed :)

Never thought I'd see the day! When I was a kid, teachers and parents alike demonized it and took them away/scolded you. Always thought, as I got older, how much of an educational opportunity it was, embracing it is so cool to see.
I love using trading card games in classrooms. Paul trading card games are no matter what game you’re playing his reading comprehension in math.
Definitely ! You can also look into the etymology of Pokémon names , the way episodes follow a storyline , the math and science around Pokémon it’s a great teachable moment.

I was a summer camp director a few years ago and a lot of my kids brought cards in to show off, so as a Gen 1 player I showed them how to play the game and how to spot fakes. I eventually built a new deck to keep up with them and we had a blast xD

I overlooked Pokémon with my first son. Typical parent, yeah that’s lovely boy, enjoy. When he got his younger brother in to it I thought I’d better start paying attention. I discovered Pokémon as an adult and I absolutely love it!

I'm from El Salvador here; when I was in grade school, the school outright banned tamagotchis and Pokemon TCG from the playground; hope this had happened when I was growing up. As a teacher now I understand how important it is to give chance to what matters to your students as people.

Dendennde is a cat Pokemon according to the kid.😂 This is amazing, I went to some of these as a kid early 2000s, and that's how I made memorable friends. Not just Pokemon but Yu-Gi-Oh too.
Alright everyone you're favorite Pokemon card I like the old Charizard one. It costs $200 today.
So aside from that I am still after all these years a Pokemon fan and proud of it 100%.
I never got TOO much into the trading cards or TCG when i was young though as i understood the games and the anime but the tradiing cards and tcg was foreign to me as i just did not really understand it all that well.
I still don't get/understand the trading cards and the TCG and the modern Pokemon TCG online but i LOVE Pokemon main series games and the anime 100% all the way though for sure.
There had to be students who participated in Pokémon battles the way that I used to. A way in which if you lose then all your prize cards would go to the winner.

As a collector, I often have a lot of duplicate cards that I dont put into my binders. I wish I could put them into their Donation Box so that any kids that want them could get them...
When I was growing up they would ban Pokemon cards and give out suspensions in school It was in 98,99 they didn't know what pokemon was it was 2-3 years old teachers thought it was distraction but after school was a different story. This brings me joy seeing this video.

Another thing i want to add here is that yes i know allot of modern day kids yes are glued to screens allot these days but I will say that if something Pokemon related came back to schools this could potentially be good for kids as it may potentially get to take a little time each day or even once or twice a week off screens and actually use Pokemon cards and as well as the trading of them as a means of actually socializing and actually talking together and not being on screens all the time. I have nothing against kids being on screens but too much i know is bad and this could be a good Pokemon thing to reduce it even if just a little and get kids talking to one another in person like when i was a kid.

Me and my friends would get our cards and try to get some sales and trades.
This happened at my schools/highschools from 1998-2009ish every few years, teachers involved, clubs tournaments etc.
Everythings fun and great until two kids figure out pricing, scamming, trading 50 1c cards for a $85 chase card etc

As a kid, I had my cards taken from me at school. My Holo Charizard from base set, my Zapdos and Chansey...it still hurts but we have hope now. Let's stop breaking kids hearts! Let's do it right!😍
