UA-camr Uncivilized Elk did a really awesome breakdown on the pups, both the lore we know and their behind-the-scenes development. I highly encourage anyone interested in Pups to check it out. What's fascinating about Gibbon is that he did have an original power that was "stolen" under unknown circumstances. This could have driven him to steal one of the Ice Thing's gems, which is why its embedded in his eye. Or maybe the two events were unrelated, who knows. But that gem is definitely where his immortality and pink ice come from, and losing his own power is likely what caused him to lash out and start taking away other Pups' powers.
There's clearly a story here and we don't have all the details on. Adam Muto and Steve Wolfhard (the creator of the Pups storyline) need to make a spinoff sequel set in this era.

That could be. But remember, pups age at an extremely fast rate. By the time they are 1 hour old, they don't need their parents anymore. But, your theory does make a bit more sense.

@@paxw37 or it was by "accident" if you think of the powers he could have taken the powers in the womb or just after birth possibly feeding his Immortality and if done before anyone knew of what the pups powers were then they might think its a birth defect and he see's his own blood/DNA as "defective" and is Scared of his siblings he might even think the pup princess did it and that's why she ran.
Gibbon is over a thousand years old so there’s no way Beth is gibbons daughter. Beth would be a great great great great great etc. grand daughter of gibbon. All the other pups of the pup kingdom may very well also be gibbons descendants. So your theory of royalty doesn’t really work here. Perhaps The parents of Beth (also being the great grand kids of gibbon) Did not like their great grandfathers ways and sacrificed their selves just to allow beth to escape the kingdom before being extinguished, this is how she has never lost her power. This is why she’s a fugitive and wanted by gibbon. This also explains why one of gibbons space pups is seen using a pair of binoculars in the intro to spy on shermy and Beth.
i think due to the unique hybridizatation of rainicorn, dog, alien and various other creatures, the magical nature of pups is incredibly unstable and they are prone to diversify very, very fast. I think Gibbon saw just how powerful and dangerous pups were getting and it probably already caused a lot of destruction by the time he learned how to extinguish the powers of a pup. He built an entire society around pups losing their powers from birth, from which eventually the space-faring creatures that all look the same evolved.

It’s wild how such a seemingly powerful kingdom came from Jake’s kids who all had relatively normal lives and jobs, you’d never guess their family bloodline would one day become the dominant species in Ooo
And they age rapidly, which means they can reproduce really quickly
I have a theory that Bronwyn actually founded the pup kingdom using the land that Kim Kil Whan owned. That is why Beth is a princess as she descended from this line, then the other pups joined the pup kingdom and it grew greatly due to both the rapid aging and the fact that Jake's Shapeshifter DNA probably made him compatible with all species but the pup physiology was dominant. Then Gibbon usurped the royal line down the road after mastering magic or obtaining the ice crown gem (this could have been peaceful) , he may have even aligned himself with the unicorns if the gem technology is anything to go by.
That's a very interesting theory! Bronwyn founding the Pup Kingdom and Beth's royal lineage makes sense. I wish we would have saw more Bronwyn episodes, I love her character
ooo 1000+ is super interesting and the pup concept art stuff as well as shermy and beth in come along with me really makes me want to see a series or special about the pups. so much cool things they could do with insane random pup powers; whether it be pups who werent got by gibbon; or pups who were able to regain their powers somehow

Have you read all of the comic books? I was SO elated to find out there was so much more adventure to devour when I realized just how many comics were drawn up! They are beautiful and really helped we greive the “end” of our dearest Adventure Time💗

Two questions
1) Did Jakes kids all have kids with each other, or did they marry other species and the pup traits were always dominant
2) Are there any other dog/rainicorn hybrids that are not related to Jake and lady rainicorn?
Jakes kids have kids with other species. Like Kim Kil Whan did with Pat the bear. There are probably other dog/rainicorn hybrids, but Jakes descendants are way more powerful because of Warren Ampersands shape-shifting abilities that got passed down
It could be a theory similar to what's going on in MHA.... one of the big concerns in the lore is about how powers of the future generations are blending, evolving, and growing more and more powerful
Gibbon might seem like the villain, but only learned this ability to try and prevent pups with cataclysmic power from destroying reality
Do you want people to have unique abilities? Or do you want to risk someone being born with an ability that nukes everything if they sneeze?
Interesting take here. I haven't watch MHA but I definitely should. I think what you are saying might have some truth behind it. I could 100% see Gibbon, might not be the villain, but just trying to protect the future of Ooo and stop these crazy powerful pups from using their power for evil. I agree with you

But it could be a shared idea between the two franchises...
It is interesting to note the differences between the two main villains though...
Gibbon has the ability to delete powers permanently
But "All for One" has the ability to take and give powers from those he touches, and he's definitely a villain... using this ability to stockpile power and make his followers stronger
Since Gibbon only deletes powers there doesn't SEEM like his endgame is to "become a god"
The only "villain" aspect is being an immortal ruler... but TBH... what are you going to do with immortality?
Gibbon has pink ice and immortality because he most likely stole the 3rd gemstone on the ice crown. Which if you look closely gunter is missing a gem on his face.

I have a theory. Remember the Dog/Rainicorn wars. What if someone in charge knew about the danger of magical pups being created in abundance so they orchestrated a hatred between the species in order to limit the chances of pups being created in the first place. Dogs and Rainicorns can somehow procreate with each other which means somewhere down the line they shared the same genetic code. Jake and Rainicorn procreating was probably a very rare occurrence and even 1000 years later there are contingencies in place for their magical offspring. Or maybe Jake being the offspring of the inter dimensional being along with Rainicorns abilities created magical pups for the first time in existence. It’s just a thought that crossed my mind.
Yeah that's a valid point. Because we don't actually know what started the Dog/Rainicorn wars, we just know they took place and ended. That could have totally been the reason why, to prevent Dog Rainicorn offspring.

Feel like the rapid aging and the ever expanding list of powers is the key factor in the pups needing to be depowered. we know The candy kingdom has turned to a sort of isolationist sort of thing with the gumball guardians. Perhaps there was an incident with a group of pups unaffiliated with the pup kingdom.

I have to admit, If I got to choose between a new show about Ooo's future and Fiona and Cake, I'd choose the former. From the little we've seen of both, I feel like there just inherently way more they can do with it than just gender bent Adventure Time. That's not to put down the show before it's even come out, but I'll definitely be interested in seeing how they make it good, to say the least

Gibbon didn't steal Ice Thing's gem. The gem in his eye socket is a gem from the Crystal Apple. Hebprobably only took a bite - not enough to make him fully crystal like Treetrunks in an early episode, but enough for crystal ice powers
he has it in the same eye as the ice thing gemless eye + is suffering from the curse (mania, his hair turning whiter and getting a beard), also the fact that he has ice powers
This may sound weird but Gibbon's "Pink ICE" ability actually came from one of the Jewels from Ice Kings Crown. Er Gunther that used the crown on himself who wished to be Ice King.
Just at the end of the last episode. Gunther / Alt Ice King. Loses one of his eyes/ aka the jewel. It's also why the Pink ice powers is identical to ICE king. Gibbon is immortal but that's not why he looks old. His immortality comes from the Red Jewel from the Ice King Crown. Not from his abilities. Which changed him to a pale color and now has a fu manchu beard
We can rule out how Gibbon lost his powers the same way Magic Man did. Because that would require a Betty like machine, and a freak accident.
Now that is out of the way here's my theory.
Somewhere along the lines Gibbon became the king of the Pup Kingdom. It's likely thanks to the Red Gem in his eye. (MAYBE) Pups tend to age rapidly. It's likely that one of the pups had the ability to steal powers. This would cause Gibbon to quote "learn" Power Extinguishment. perhaps from the enchiridion (MAYBE) This probably led to the banishment hence "Extinguish at Birth"
Perhaps royalty is only allowed to have powers going forward. It's like Princess Beth had Jakes Moral mindset and finds the whole ritual of extinguishing the puppies powers at birth to be inhumane it's possible that the shirts that the other pups are wearing are either some kind of rebel group. Or that the symbol could be a representation of Gibbons Kingdom. Similar to Uncle Gumbalds logo / symbol. I am going to assume that it's Gibbons emblem. After all the letter kind of looks like a G and in the center is what I assume is the Red Gym. Then again it looks like the letter C too. (Shrug)
At least that's what I've come up with.
Yeah that's true, I totally forgot to mention the Gem from the Ice Crown. The connection with the Jewel from Ice King's crown and Gunther's transformation is pretty cool. Your take on the Red Jewel giving Gibbon immortality and changing his looks, that totally makes sense! Your guess about how Gibbon could've become king of the Pup Kingdom is really interesting, especially the part about a pup possibly stealing powers. That could definitely explain Gibbon's "Power Extinguishment." Love the idea of Princess Beth being against this whole "Extinguish at Birth" thing, and the pups maybe being in some kind of rebel group. Your thought about the shirts and symbols being related to Gibbon's Kingdom, like Uncle Gumbald's logo, is really on point. Your theory makes a lot of sense!!

I still love Kim Kil Whan from the OG Pups but Herm and Raisan sound really cool and with how powerful they were getting it makes sense they'd want them depowered.
TV has powers to take something in writing and project them able to absorb a persons emotions and actions very accurately without much guess work / effort. TV paints a picture and it becomes a lucid dream like reality.
