You can increase the granularity of the bars by using U+2589 to U+258F to get 8 steps per block.

Great vid and proper info sharing! Thank you for using the /srv so few actually use it anymore! As for the UUID, it's not that hard, sudo blkid will give you the full UUID string to use, just delete the double-quotes and you can even copy/paste into fstab. (I'm sure you know this, but for your commenters that might just happen to want to know how.) Again great vid keep em coming!

Wow thank you. I just followed your samba edit what I have all ready I could not save just look and this worked. I worked on that for hours long ago and would use WinSCP to change things now it's easy just use Samba.

I know if it isn't broken don't fix it, but I would update the code to use Python 3. Sure Python 2 will work for some time but Python 3 is now the recommended base. The code change are minimal I suspect ( haven't looked at your git yet). Good project!

Did this thing a long time ago, obviously without any display to show the info. But the plex server gives issues. Most of the times it gets hanged. Not to mention, the first time it pulls the metadata of the media, it becomes hot as hell and freezes.

I need a little help with automatically mounting the external hard drive. What do I need to input for the command line for a expat formatted drive? I have tried:
    /dev/sda1 /srv/share fat rw,user,auto 0 0
    and then run
    sudo mount -a
It didn't come up with an error but when I ''ls'' it comes up with the share folder created but is only blue and not also green like yours.
    What have I done wrong?
I forgot to mention I will be only using this for mac computers.
    thanks

With the hard drive already using bandwidth on the USB, it's pretty unlikely that one would get particularly high real-world speeds out of it. Here were some interesting figures on it: www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=207897#p1285923

So, I'm assuming rasbian doesn't use SELinux? You really shouldn't be putting things on unknown networks without SELinux protection. Esp with all those listening servers.
Okay, just got the part about the smb share and my heart stopped. I realise this is supposed to be an intro but it is a security nightmare. Maybe guides that don't touch on security are harmful to the community?

@@medo7dody it is a 20+ year old protocol created by Microsoft. It offers no encryption so everything is visible one the wire. Implementations have been targeted for years. Just look at the deep blue exploit. Plus just attempting to connect to an smb share screams your credits, your computer's username and password to the distant end even if authentication wasn't necessary.
