It’s called “pares” meaning pair. A sweet beef stew combined with either garlic or plain rice. Its usually a darkened soy stew. A filling meal for the common filipino. 😊

Try diwata pares in Pasay City for 100 peso
pares means pair.... its made of beef brisket with very aromatic beef broth and spices pair with garlic rice and condiments .. but the most famous to pares is the smell that makes you want to taste it .. looks not appetizing at first for not familiar about pares.. but the taste is amazing ... downside is it will make you super sweaty cause its serve hot 😂 also pares is more common consumed of worker around the area .. with limited breaktime like factory worker builder..driver.. thats why pares stall always see at the unexpected area ..if theres a labor worker there a pares nearby 😂
Hahaha no I'm gonna be on the look out for workers nearby so I can have pares more often 😁😁 thank you for that info :)
My brother lives in toronto and i live near binondo

Just letting you know, you can greet kamusta ka to one person, but say kamusta kayo when there is more than one
Hi want to inform you that even though the locals seems nice and fun don't get too comfortable in crowded areas specially at night, we are still consider 3rd world country.
Also want to add Filipino food uses lemon, soy sauce and vinegar mix together first in small plate or bowl as a dipping sauce then place on your food cause noticed you usually just place Kalamnsi (small citrus) in your food. You can always ask locals on how to properly eat the foods to enjoy the experience and appreciate it more.
Thank you for that info I'm definitely gonna start eating it that way now
In Philippines "NG" we read it like is a one letter, I'll teach you how to correctly pronounce "INGAT" sir not "IN-GAT" you're supposed to say like the word "Gnaw" but instead of W it should T at the and so "Ignat" but the G is there "I-NGAT" NGA. love your video
Never Had This kind of Filipino Food …. I Wonder if they Have it Here in Los Angeles Area in the Filipino Community….. ✌️👍👍👍🙏👌
I'm sure they do, definitely worth the try, it's my favorite dish so far lol
it was 65-65 Php in some Carinderias.
Enjoy you exploring "real" areas of Manila, and not the contrived fancy districts most foreigners get steered to.
Honestly these are my favorite places to explore, much more fun, lots more to come :)
You are not going to the direction it must be in Binondo church turn up to the corner there and you will be at lucky888 mall
When I came back to Hawaii from my country out in the middle of the pacific, pares were one of the first things I had to have, but the side of the Hawaiian islands I'm at, only serves them once a week when our little swap meet opens up on Sundays only😢. Balut on the other hand😮, I don't know if I'll ever try it, but I can't wait to get thoughts on it. My business partner who lived there for two years said it was good and also it was considered an..lol. Well, let's just say it'll "give you crazy thoughts" 😂. 💜🐢
Hahaha idk what will happen when I actually come across balut, I might either go for it or chicken out 🤣 ill bring you guys along for sure tho
Why they told you to be careful is there are some rats in the slum areas who are less fortunate that that trying to find ways to survive which have the tendency to rob anyone they'll spotted, there are some victims who are trying to fight back but ended up in hospital and sometimes in the tomb, you can find that in almost every country.
Just like in so many Cities there are areas where precautions are necessary. He went in Divisoria and it's jam-packed with people. Still generally speaking Manila is a safe place
Have you ever felt so lonely when you’re traveling alone?
Hmmmmm good question, In the very beginning travelling to thailand I felt a bit lonely sometimes, but I'd say by the time I got to the Philippines I didn't get that feeling at all cause on and off camera there were so many people talking to me all the time, now I'm just used to traveling alone
Please try pag pag it's the dish of the Philippines
Why do you want him to try pagpag? You cannot find that anywhere in Manila except in one area which is where the slum is.
@@Travel_chronicles never mind him he is vietnamese who is jealous of the Philippines. He always commented negatively about the Philippines.
Why not be proud of your rat, bat, worm and cockroaches cuisines in Vietnam huh
@@richardnuevo Pagpag is literally the national dish of the Philippines
It's not ing gat. It is (pronounced as) ingat..
Caution when eating at sidewalk places like that... hope you carry a good supply of immodium tablets for diarrhea or possibly food poisoning. Food handling practices are questionable. Good luck.😃😃😃

Pares is a poor man's dish that originated in the streets of Manila but nowadays its quite expensive in so many established restaurants around the country
Why they Call it a poor Man dish What’s on it ? You mean a Left Over Meat 🤔🤔
@@piacash5216Nope it was not left over meat it was just cheap and affordable so if you are poor you could still afford it.
This variant of braised beef is not a poor man's dish 🤣
@@piacash5216 It contains meat cuts that are not eaten in Western Cuisine. Parts like the Innards, Entrails, Opal and the likes.
It is not leftover meat.
Remember that The Lobster was not eaten before by the Nobility. It was considered as a "Poor Fisherman's Food."
Now, Lobster is eaten NOT BY FISHERMEN.
