it all seems,very calm,peaceful,..& unlike other comments,the little girl,only adds,to the charm,..a lot of Hard Work,has gone into making everything seem,so Simple,..thanks for this,..i wish you all the Luck,..
Even Japanese can relax and feel peaceful summer afternoon in country side. I can even imagine smell and touch of the air in this place. I often watch your videos but this is splendid one. I am very glad to see you are having happy Japanese life!!!! May Japanese gods bless your family.
A retaurant open to the elements, kind strangers all enthralled by the rain on a summer afternoon....a welcome site to this viewer in the cold wintry hills of the North. I can't until the steamy summer rainstorms come back around where I am! Love your channel!
~How VERY Cool~ I bet the food was great & Your family had a great time here. Loved seeing this place and the GArden gave me a few Ideas too :D thanks papa :)
Such an amazing place, and the food is affordable by the sounds of it. Great surroundings and the option of eating at western tables and chairs too, beautiful. Can't believe they still gave you those fiddly OTEMOTO chopsticks to use though! :D
The restaurant you visited seems to represent a large amount of what I love about Japan. Beautiful scenery, the calming sounds of rain, lovely traditional building, a wonderful atmosphere altogether. Unlike crowded, stuffy, and noisy restaurants in the US. This is one of the places I wish to find myself lost in.
The kind of Soba noodle shown on video is Zaru, or Mori. Rolled and cut buckwheat noodle briefly boiled, washed chilled in cold water.....then served on Zaru (bamboo basket). Simplest serving. Diner dipping noodle into the sauce, which is made with Sweet Sake blended with seasoned broth of seafoods (dried fish & seaweed) and soy sauce, normally kept in cool place for some time to develop mellowed taste. I'd say it tastes sweet/salty/rich in mild way. Each shop has its own sauce.
That place look very relaxing. Looks like you felt at home. That's cool that you got to see the waterfall :] If i ever get a chance to visit japan, I'd like to take a trip into the mountains.
Wow, this is an amazing video. That house looks so great and I love the way the gardens and stuff look all around it. There is something I love about that warm rainy weather and I can not think of a better place to experience it than in Japan. I have never traveled Japan ( I am 18) but I plan to move there some day. This video is like exaclty what I love about Japan, it captures it beautifully. It looks like you had a great day there with your family. You are a very lucky man :)
Somebody already responded to your query... anyway, that was MATCHA, high grade green tea powdered and stirred with hot water. It is quite rare any restaurant would serve, either free or by special order, the MATCHA. However, the area where the family lives and the restaurant located, SHIZUOKA pref. is major tea producing part of Japan, very proud to serve good tea, as well as WASABI served along with SOBA. The place is casual, yet very classy.
Great video. That looked like such an amazing place. I have only been to a house like that in a "living museum" North of Osaka. The forest in that area seems incredible. I suppose that's an aspect of Japan I don't get to appreciate too often since I live in the city! Glad to see you posting video again. Hope there will be more to come :)
That has to be the nicest restaurant I've ever seen. Amazingly beautiful architechture, and that view! I'm glad these old videos are recycling up again.
@LovelyLilDevilWings I actually am pretty sure I found out what it is, I am pretty sure its a powdered green tea called Matcha, its a tradtional drink.
Marvelously charming, with a lovely view. Thank you for sharing the little family outing, per usual you seem to catch all the interesting things, from the grating to the waterfall!! Your daughter is adorable as always, how old is she now? ~Kat
Thank you for taking me to that wonderful noodle place. It was so relaxing & enjoyable. May I ask where it is please as I would like to take my wife there (if at all possible). Kindest regards from Australia
@beachfeet1000 that's called wasabi - its a kind of horse radish - It's VERY hot if you use alot of it, but it's so good! It's used in alot of japanese meals.
I was totally lost in the moment watching this. How peaceful! I noticed the fan in the back ground. Is it warm this time of year, even though it's raining? Heather
Yes, indeed...real Wasabi root to grate for your Soba! A big one at that. Once I had one named Wasabi-soba at soba shop in Shibuya but disappointingly tiny Wasabi root came along with Morisoba, my pinky-size Wasabi without much flavor and bite. Shizuoka Prefecture is the best quality Wasabi producing area, particularly, middle of Izu Peninsula. This Soba-ya has a class, and, good taste to present like that. ( pun intended) ps. You got very sharp eye to catch the name of the place!
well,having watched an extent to this far,you have earned a subscriber,and i think its funny that i found these vids thanks to bleach (anime) when soi-fon fought her zanpakuto ''suzemabachi''
You are literally living my dream >.< Living in Japan having a Japanese wife and a daughter! ah you are a lucky person :D I will go to university in Japan so I hope we will meet sometime, But I guess I must learn japanese before I go to university :P

Hi Kurt :)
Long time no see since last autumn!
I was concerned about you and your family.
Glad to see your posting again.

夜に見たのは失敗だった・・・山葵摩り下ろしたては最高だなぁ
@LovelyLilDevilWings I was actually wondering what the bright green liquid that came out in the small wooden bowl after the Soba course at 5:30
Gratz on 100th vid. I can't believe it has been 8 months since your last vid.
God I miss Japan.
I know it was I who answered the question for myself.
@softypapa all its missing is a shishi odoshi (hope that's right took me ages to find the name)
@LovelyLilDevilWings thanks anyway for trying :)

It looks very nice i want to travel to japan to study is it expensive to live in japan ?
well,having watched an extent to this far,you have earned a subscriber,and i think its funny that i found these vids thanks to bleach (anime) when soi-fon fought her zanpakuto ''suzemabachi''
to do slurp their noodles can taste the noodles with the soup. that is the reason.
and Soba was originally junk food in Edo era.
@beachfeet1000 Awsome!
You'v probably been asked this 1000 times. But whats the green drink?
What does the sause for your noodles taste like? I have always been wondering what's in it and what it taste like.
You are literally living my dream >.<
Living in Japan having a Japanese wife and a daughter! ah you are a lucky person :D
I will go to university in Japan so I hope we will meet sometime, But I guess I must learn japanese before I go to university :P
Would you say this resturant would be expensive to attend for one person travelling through?
What is the bright green liquid ?
Hey Softypapa, long time no see. Its been a while since your last vid ^^
@beachfeet1000 haha... Oops.
Oh my...
Wasabi is right to eat and put on top of Soba, do not put in a side soup.
扇風機が回ってますね。夏場であれば冷たいトロロ蕎麦、ん~~~熱い鴨南蛮も捨てがたい! どちらにするべきか^^;
Why can't America be like this lmao
@YoutuJ3eJ3lows
ha..
ha ha
@YoutuJ3eJ3lows
Considering the amount of likes I think that's simply someones mistake.
俺自身蕎麦好きなので
撮影しながらってのは大変だなぁ(笑)
・・・伸びちゃいますよ?`,、('∀`) '`,、
@KatiushaVN4 Yeah, he white. So what? Why does skin colour matter THAT much to you?! My goodness, you're rude.
this place is so cool man... a culinary + natural + architectural experience all in one... its insanely good... what a shame this video is only 240p
Thanks for sharing, what a wonder.....i wish i could live in Japan, even the natural landscapes are garden on earth,,,,
