The hot 70s set is the Super77 bridge and Fat 55 neck combined, just to be clear. So when doing a demo of the bridge from the Hot 70s set, it's actually a Super77 pickup.
_Clean/crunch sound_ - *Passive*
_Hi Gain_ - *Active*
The brightness offered by the EMG has almost single coil chime.
JB sounds better clean. EMG sounds better distorted.
To my ears the JB sounds better on every setting here. I have heard footage that I like with the retroactives though. They're probably like most emgs, you have to retweak your amp settings. I'd try them
How often do you play clean tones on your bridge pickup? They are both nice but Emg for clarity for me
Good job bro my choice emg
I have a bad noise problem with my guitar[PRS se custom with passive pickup]. I think its from electro magnetic interfearence in my room [ when I turn the guitar around, the hum goes away in certain angle]. I dont have this problem with my another guitar with active pickup. Will changing my pickup to this EMG retro 77 solves the problem? Does this EMG retro picks up EMI noise in the air?
In clean Jb is better, more articule and warm than Emg. But in distortion o prefer the emg, feel powerful and noisless
Not sure the settings on the 70's in clean were the same....clarity for 70's win!
can you please compare Guild LB-1 to Fishman Classic and Modern?
Sorry Lone, that pickup isn't on my sight for future demos. For now, I'm trying to cover the common known models that people always ask for.
@@mikestamper ok but I bet Guild LB-1 beats any pickup you demoed
Don't doubt it at all! Pickups are a full world of surprises. You never know where's yours, and the price doesn't matter at all in the quality you can expect from it. Anyway, I'll take this one you told me into account if there's a chance, :)

I get that the Hot 70 is a 'metal' pickup, but I didn't realize the minimum gain on your amp's dirty channel was 14. Seriously, some medium gain crunch tones would be nice.
Man this Hot 70 is so freaking bright. The JB is a pretty bright pickup and the Hot 70 is like 50% brighter. Honestly not a fan of it.
Those chimey cleans are unusual for a humbucker. Definetly not going to muddy up like a traditional passive humbucker can when pushed too hard.
It's a low wind pickup after all. Ofcourse it's not gonna blast you with mids and low end like a bulldozer
Whoever cares about clean tones of a humbucker in the bridge position? The EMG is just all kinds of chunky and earthy with distortion with 0 mud. Extremely underrated.
I do lots of rolling with the volume for cleaner passages and I think more people should do that
I think nobody should do that. Switch to the neck PU ffs. Generally fucking around with the knobs just sounds bad, always hated that. Turn them up all the way and don't touch them ever again, that's the best thing to do with those. For a cleaner tone switch to another channel. That's the luxury we have today.
@@honigdachs. you should get better wiring if you think that. You can get great cleans through distorted amps with wiring that retains good high end
You also probably need passives for that
The EMG is intolerable without distortion. It's veeeeery harsh. With distortion it's a different story. They are made to be played distrorted. But not so versatile, right? SD JB is great overall. JB wins because it's not a one trick pony.
I wish you would have gone to overdriven before full distortion. These are SEVENTIES pickups. It would have been nice to hear some classic rock tone.
JB wins
Сеймур в одни ворота на чистом.
