Nice one guys Kielder Forest stage was always the one stage of the RAC Rally that stuck in my mind. We love star gazing, we were camping in Sospel Southern France a few years ago and the night sky is amazing. Guy opposite us had a huge telescope and we got chatty with them, turned out he was the Dutch Health Minister on holiday with his family. Cheers K.
I just did a trip a few weeks ago from the North West of England up round Scotland and back and Kielder was the midgiest place that I visited on my trip by far!! I rode the mountain bike trail which was cool but as I got back to my car to load up my bike they all flew into it!! Incredible scenery and cool video! Safe travels!
You’re both looking very tanned. Van life suits you 👍 such a pretty drive. Looks lovely. Yes Graham does stargaze. We wanna go there 🤣 Poppy on the bike ❤️. Well done Rick. You did well on your bike. Nice bit of footage 👍snazzy midges headgear Heather 😁. Gorgeous views by the viaduct. 🏴yay! Really Enjoyed this 😊🧙♂️
Thanks both, we really enjoyed it and it’s well worth visiting for sure - just be more midge prepared 😂 the tan is coming on well yes we love being out just need to get work over but we’re a few more years off yet. Thanks as always for watching ❤️
Great video, I love Kee L der. Midges are a pain, Great cycling, credit to you both & poppy for getting to Scotland on the bikes. We camped at Keilder in 1997, wife’s idea to live like a refugee for a week, nightmare for midges, mini metro with loud car radio woke us up early one Sunday morning, I bollocked the couple, then realised Lady Di had died, oops. I then insisted on b&b at Dumfries, never used tent since. Did you see the Keilder Rabbit, that was a big thing when I was a kid. I think there is a village under that reservoir.
Great to see you’ve been to my neck of the woods 😉😊 I live on the other end of the Forest Drive 👍🏻 glad you liked the area and met the local midge clan 😉 looking forward to seeing the Brewery video 👍🏻 take care. Ernie
I think the Mouse is something related to the children's book the Gruffalo, and I think they done something to do with the Gruffalo a few months back. Think when you crossed the border was the same spot that the Vauxhall Channel Once Driven Forever Smitten drove to. You can actually drive a part of the rally stage if you pay £3.00 as the Vauxhall channel done it (give it a watch) a beautiful part of the world I need to explore one day.
Oh lord this brings back painful memories! We went in the motorhome circa 10 years ago… the midgies still bit and David (Rachel writing this) bought himself an electric bike … I didn’t know … I borrowed Jess’s £60 Tesco bike and headed the 26 miles (up and down hills) round the dam. David powered round no issues …. I couldn’t walk for days … never ever been in so much pain 😡🤣
The midges were an absolute nightmare but the area is beautiful, sadly a lot of the tracks were damaged and you can’t get all round the lake anymore (oh dear how sad ….. 😂)
Hi,We have just discovered your channel and love it.Could we ask your advise. We have ordered a consort Oslo on the new Fiat ducato. We will be carrying two battery bikes like you also we have three solar panels, awning and all the usual things. Our worry is that the payload will not be good enough and we will have to up plate.Do you find that the payload is ok?
We have 600kg payload on the Elddis I’d imagine slightly less on a Consort but you should be fine, I’m sure your dealer will know more than me. We travel quite light, if you don’t need it don’t take it types….
That over night parking is ace, more councils should look at this more and more. They really are missing a trick.
I think some are coming on board slowly but of course you’re always going to get people to spoil it and some councils won’t want the hassle 🤔

You really do pick some lovely places to stop. Now you can boast that you have cycled to Scotland. Take care Gill
I take zero credit, H does all the research on where we stay I just steer the ship! 😂
This is ideal! We’ve got plans to visit here and the £10 overnight parking looks well worth trying out 👍🏼
Just watch the midges! 😊
@@RickandHeather 😂 we’re planning a winter visit
Wise!
It's pronounced Keelder. Lovely place, I ride up that way on my motorbike. The visitor centre you first stayed at gets very busy with bikes. 👍
Definitely a great area…. Bar those midges! 😂

I didn’t even twig about the rally until someone said yesterday 😂
Great video guys! Please can you tell me if you can/need to book the carparks where you stayed, or is it first come first served? Thanks!
We booked at the visitor centre that you see in the video for both car parks. You can just pay at the meter but it was cheaper at the visitor centre.
Thank you! Love your video! 😊
Could you please tell me if dogs are allowed off the lead on the cycle track you are on? Thanks
@@lizfaulkner3501 no idea sorry we obviously had Poppy in the basket
