Zirkzee provides a lot of creativity that we lacked last season. Hojlund wasn’t getting good service because we relied heavily on wing play and the service in the box was poor. During build up when Zirkzee drops deeper compared to hojlund he compresses the defense to whatever side of center he chooses to be. This creates more space on the opposite side and he has the quality of pass to find the right man. I think Hojlund should start because if Bruno can’t find him Zirkzee will. If Zirkzee were to start ahead of Bruno for example (won’t happen) Mainoo would have to be much more involved higher up the pitch and Ugarte holding.
The players not passing to Højlund frequently Enough for him to get his timing right. He can't anticipate because our wingers are not creators and let's not act as if Bruno and Dalot wasn't deliberately bypassing him in games last season.
I noticed that too... Houjland is far better striker than Zirkzee.. all he needs is pass he will score.. he goals conversion rate is very high... considering the likes of Rash, Ganacho and Antony hardly pass the ball to him
Either ways they both needs support from midfield and wingers to pass them the ball to be able to get goals we constantly play like we don’t have strikers up top
Midfield 3 of Ugarte Fernandes and Zirkzee behind hojlund for games you'd expect to win. Swap out zirkzee for mainoo for the tougher games you need to focus a bit more defensively. Collyer casemiro Eriksson and mount as back up. Think we might see more from Wheatley this year too

They need to play together. Zirkzee is a space creator and creativity machine and can score as well. Drag defenders out of position. Both olaying at the same time would make defenses break down.
mctom was able to arrive late, hojlund had to be there before the ball so was always unable to ghost. mctom smashing in at the same time as the ball was almost like hojlund becoming 2 people and being able to make twice the movement.

If you're at the games you see this kind of thing all the time. Marcus works so hard off the ball when we're in possession, we just don't have that Carrick type to find his runs.

Zirkzee needs Ruud to improve his offensive part of his game cos it's not good enough, his body language is 'too casual' he needs to up his focus, fitness, conditioning & sharpness to be a regular in this team! No 'Shin Pads' that an issue to the fanbase. The manager should tell him 'No Pads No Play' this is where We think the manager is been careless & not protecting the players. Capt. Bruno has to play as an disciplined 8 to stay in the team for Zirkzee to benefit otherwise drop him! We expect top 4 nothing less!
I guess form, opposition, fixture and fitness will determine if he will play one, the other, both or none. Offhand think Højlund will get more minutes than Zirkzee when both are fit.

For his age and lack of service, he's done well last season. There was clearly a big issue in terms of getting the ball forward to him, he was the meats passed to forward in the league
He was actually shit hot last season if you look at his stats. Had his best goalscoring season, overperformed his xG and scored some bangers while he was at it.
He was the youngest player to ever score in 6 consecutive premier league games. He then got injured if you remember. With the right service this lad will do well but he needs the right development and coaching and also patience from fans. I think hell become a really good player over time. Just now is not the right time for us to rely on him to lead the line imo.
10 goals in 30PL games is very average, especially considering he started most of those. Streaks sound great until you remember the goalless streak was actually longer. Good enough in the circumstances, sure I dont disagree. I just disagree he's a shoe in to start over zirkzee.
None of them should be! Neither of them are even very good let alone world class! Man utd used to be able to attract top players ,not anymore.
