I love this, I plan to use it
dave said that "were far off from AI watching movies and making reviews" and i'll just say television studios are already using AI focus groups and basing decision on whether or not to greenlight projects based on that.
One more reason I value your video content
They will never get tickets to a movie premiere...well not now anyway :)
To be fair David keeps calling people by their full names all the time, he’s half a robot already! (Sorry, Dave, you are actually very good - except that thing)
6:55 If you ever hear an AI reading a movie review as a lymric, it may be sus. 😅
Jeff will praise A.I. when it frees him from bondage by taking over the responsibility of satisfying Dave's gluttonous craving for limericks.
It’s hard to be original, impossible for Ai? 🤷
Sounds like a nice study tool, tbh.
i just copied the transcript of this episode of podcast into NotebookLM and it generated a podcast about Filmcast talk about NotebookLM. It is so messed up. lol. But one thing for sure, NotebookLM isn't self aware yet.
One really really interesting side effect of making these podcasts about something you wrote, is that it is a perfect counterbalance to Imposter Syndrome. Imposter Syndrome isn't real. It's us creating a negative narrative about our own work. THIS creates a POSITIVE narrative (equally not real). Hearing two "people" discuss your novel in such interested, glowing ways, slices through Imposter Syndrome.
One of the fun tests I did with this is I uploaded the script to a mockumentary I wrote about my dad. The joke was that he was the head of a huge illegal lasagna mafia called the Pasta Nostra. It was silly and ridiculous and over-the-top. But within the podcast created, the host said, "Here's this documentary, it's incredible. It's like a cross between a Quentin Tarantino movie..and...uh.. an Olive Garden menu." I laughed out loud. That's now the blurb. It's totally capable of making the funny.
I have mixed feelings about it. I don't care if AI is summarizing the news or a recipe and reading it to me. I'm not interested in AI art. I already think the overuse of CGI has ruined so many movies. AI is just another step in that direction, taking the creativity out of art.
I’m not sure why you’re all worried. There are 8 billion people on the planet, and most of them aren’t creative. Now, with generative AI, everyone will soon have the chance to express their ideas in a coherent way that’s accessible to all. When in all of human history have we been able to do that? AI gives most people on the planet the ability to be creative and share their ideas with the world. Don’t worry about whether the creation is “real” or not-there’s nothing new under the sun.
For whatever it's worth, speaking of paying for content, I would subscribe to a regular podcast of you all simply sharing your insights, personal hopes, and fears about what it means to be alive today, about what this fast-changing world was, is, and will be. No specific themes or subjects, no agenda or tailored content. I just wish for- and I know how sad this sounds- the experience of getting together with you all as friends.
