This song isn’t what you think it’s about. Hotel California is about the dark side of the entertainment industry and how it affects the minds of the people in it.
Yep it sure is my mom told me about that and I scoffed at her and I said haha yeah right now that I'm much older I realize what she was talking about and she was absolutely right
It informally refers to the Beverly Hills Hotel which the Eagles and other bands frequented, it also features as the building on the cover of the album and is the setting of the photos of the band inside the album and the included poster.
That back and forth between guitars at the end of this song is arguably the greatest instrumental conversation in history. Perhaps rivaled or surpassed only by Dueling Banjos.
The dude on guitar with red bandana making crazy faces is the famous Joe Walsh !!!! The dude on the white double guitar was Don Felder. Both masters !!!!! Felder no longer with us . Walsh , who knows ??????? Walsh a huge influence on my playing since i was 15 .
@@genehornung3295 I spaced out and was thinking of Glen . My Bad . I know Don & Joe are still alive ,but there is some weird conspiricy online for the past couple years falsely reporting he had passed . Same with Billy Gibbons .
When Joe Walsh (the guy wearing a bandana in the guitar duet at the end of the song) joined the Eagles in 1975, they changed from being a soft rock/easy listening band into a full fledged rock band. Unfortunately, Hotel California was their masterpiece, and the pressure to achieve that level of greatness again was part of the reason that they broke up just 4 years later.
Lead singing drummers are not real prevalent, but some of note, besides Don Henley here, are Phil Collins from Genesis (and his solo career), Roger Taylor with Queen, and Karen Carpenter of The Carpenters. If you have not listened to Karen's work, she was a special talent and deserves time in your ears.

Yes This song "Swings daddeo" (a 1950's term).....To me it means MUSIC THAT GETS INTO YOUR SOUL. Fills up every molecule inside you. Makes you want to MOVE and DANCE. So good you want to hear it AGAIN and AGAIN. IMHO There are about 50 songs from the 70's that do that (high point) and in order, 40 songs from the 60's...about 20 songs from the 80's ....15 songs from the 50's....3 songs from the 90's....4 songs from the 40's.....4 songs from the 2010's....2 songs from the 2000's.... 2 songs from the 1920's.....1 from the 1930''s......0. ZERO from the 2020's, so far. Unless you count Beyonce's "Jolene"
Yeah, Irina, you got to one of the classics performed by Eagles in my home arena (sadly torn down) where I saw Rod Stewart. This song is a metaphor for the seedy California show biz and music lifestyle especially back in the 70s. Don Henley, the drummer, is a singer, guitarist and drummer on a par with Phil Collins. He went out on his own after Eagles. Absolutely a banger of a guitar duo there. 👍 For another great guitar solo try Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4, a song about song writer's block.
Always love to see montanna, great music and reaction. You're hair is so beautiful, hope you're having a great Friday and have a wonderful weekend. Much love Irina.
As far as whether what we're hearing in this video is actually from the live performance, or if it was overdubbed, I wasn't able to find a definitive answer. The best comment that I read is that it sounds too perfect to be from the live performance, so we're probably hearing the album (studio) recording. For myself, who cares! It sounded great, and if the live video is so close to the recorded audio that people have to guess about it, that's good enough for me. It won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1978. I've heard other people comment about how difficult it would be to sing and play the drums at the same time, although several individuals in different bands have also done it. It is somewhat rare, though.
Double neck guitar, top neck is a 12 string guitar. A 12 syring guitar has basically the regular 6 strings with an extra string an octave higher added to each string. Except maybe the high E and B. Which just have double strings. I can't remember for sure right now The bottom neck is a regularly strung 6 string guitar. He plays the harmony on the 12 and lead on the 6
Don Henley drums.don Felder lead guitar 12 string.glen Fry acoustic guitar.joe Walsh rythum guitar.randy meisner bass.maybe the greatest group of talent on stage at one time ever.all were great musicians.all had their own careers separate from the group.all we're lead singers

Irina, it was nice to see you get into the music. Good song choice. I noticed Montana's eyes are no longer blinking, glad his medical condition has improved! Have a good day.
Drummer who sings, check out The Band. Listen to any song from the live concert called The Last Waltz. Levon Helm, drummer for The Band sings many songs and is amazing. Recommend songs "The Weight" and "Ophelia". Don Felder is playing a double neck guitar, 12 string on top, 6 string on the bottom.
Irina what a great dancing partner you have with Montana!! Good to see you both healthy again. The soloist is Joe Walsh if you liked it check out his song "In the City" which was also the theme song for the 70's cult film "The Warriors" which would make a great movie review!! Also Walsh had his own band James Gang with several hits especially off their album James Gang Rides Again check it out Monty will love it lol
The Eagles have well crafted songs and even better vocal harmonies. And that double-neck 6/12 Gibson SG has to weigh a ton! I especially love Joe Walsh's (the guy with the Tele, not the SG) soulful licks! So, if you haven't checked it out yet, Joe Walsh (as a solo artist), "Rocky Mountain Way"
