    Definitely agree about how narrators can change your opinions on books! This also convinced me to read the rest of Riley’s books that I haven’t yet! 🎃

      Oooh! I will look forward to hearing your thoughts on them!

    I've read all but Riley's latest book and agree with nearly all your points. Your ability to sum up the story, recall names, places, etc, while not revealing major spoilers is impressive.

    New to Riley Sager, I just fished The House Across the Lake. Wow! What an introduction! I'm reading now Middle of the Night and can tell it's going to be a good one as well. This video is really appreciated! Thanks

    I've read all RS books except Home Before Dark + his newest. Will read both soon. Agree about guessing the killer very early in Survive the Night. Read Final Girls when it was a new release with no expectations. Liked it. Can't recall much about it now. 🤷 Thanks for the great reviews! 📚

    I loved Final Girls. For me it was so campy, so 80's horror movie style. So good. I am starting The Last Time I Lied next week. Love your video!

    Last night, I was trying to decide which Riley Sager book should be my first. Perfect timing with your video! Just put The Only One Left on hold on Libby!

    I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on Riley Sager. I haven't read anything by him yet. Hopefully soon!

      I feel like, there is going to be something for everyone in his thrillers. That's why everyone has such varying opinions. And even though his books don't always hit the same for me, they are still well written and clever overall and I have a good time for the most part. So, if you read one and don't enjoy it too much, at least give one more a chance because you just never know with him.

    Oh my gosh! Your point about the voice actor for The House Across the Lake… one of my friends said that’s why she stopped reading this book! To date - I’ve not listened to any of Sager’s books on audio.
    Lock every door is my least favorite. I literally hated it and was so mad because it sounded so promising 😭

      Typically the audiobooks aren't bad at all. I have listened to every one of them. But that one was just bad because of who they chose to narrate it

      @@RescuesandReads my friend said she sounded at least 50 and found it so unappealing. I’ll have to keep this in mind for either a re-read or his next book!

    I have read all of the RS books (except the last one) and we have opposite tastes. I loved your lower rated books. My least favorite was home before dark.

    🔪 👻 ok I tried ranking but it didn’t go so well. I can’t choose!
    1) Home Before Dark, Lock Every Door, Middle of the Night
    2) The Only One Left
    3) Survive The Night, The Last Time I Lied
    4) The House Across The Lake
    5) Final Girls

    It is really interesting how different people interpret them. I really enjoyed The House Across the Lake and Final Girls. I super disliked The Only One Left. It was just. So. Long.

    • @RescuesandReads
      @RescuesandReads  Місяць тому

      Really? It was roughly the same length as the majority of his other books and Home Before Dark was longer. It was only around 30 pages longer than House Across the Lake and it moved super quickly, in my opinion.
      If you felt Only One Left was long, you will likely dislike Middle of the Night which is the same length, but far more slow burn. Only One Left had a lot happening. Middle of the Night had practically nothing happening

      @andreabarrat3208 Місяць тому

      @@RescuesandReads that’s true! Maybe for me it felt repetitive. But I will say, someone spoiled the ending for me before I started and because of that it might have felt more tedious.

    I haven't read any of his books but I definitely plan to. Are they really scary and spooky,or just gory? 💉🪓🪛

    • @RescuesandReads
      @RescuesandReads  Місяць тому +2

      I wouldn't say they are gory at all. They are just atmospheric and a bit spooky with some thrills thrown in.
