Many years ago when I worked at Apple in France a small team of us, Oren Ziv, Dot Bustello, and myself helped out Apogee on their stand at the Musicmesse in Frankfurt. I can add further praise to Betty Bennet: Over and above her business and technical skills, she is absolutely hilarious and great fun to be around.
I'm an Apollo user these days but I started out my studio with a Digi002. A year or so in, I added an Apogee Rosetta to take over the clocking duties, I was blown away at how the audio became three dimensional with a much larger soundstage. At that instant, I understood the value of accurate clocking.
This is one of the many reasons I love this channel. We get introduced to the real people who make and record music and make the gear we use every day! Thank you so very much!
I’m honestly impressed by your mini-docs, like they belong on their own channel, I guess this is a good “proof of concept” when it comes to production.
Wow this is crazy. I used to work for a company and met Betty Bennett herself. She asked for my help with some of there new equipment and I personally got to record some fun vocals with her. She personally handed me the Groove headphone amp and told me to keep it! Such an amazing person and company. At the time I had no idea I was sitting next to a LEGEND!! Really helped my music career!
Your presentation on the Apogee Digital empire and its revolutionary impact on digital recording was outstanding. You have a remarkable ability to communicate and represent the brand. You deserve recognition for your skills as a presenter, akin to the awards given at the Oscars. Wow. You are very talented.
Wow, as a “production enthusiast” it was great to learn about this brilliant woman and her company’s innovative contributions to recording technology! Thank you!
Nice touch Warren. Your passionate description on Apogee's work makes me understand how great and influential they were and they are as of now. Though i cannot afford their pro-products, i do own a 2nd hand Duet and it really sounds amazing, both recording and playback.
My Rosetta 800 has been the backbone of my little home studio for nearly 20 years. I've changed the power transformer once, in that time and it's been like clockwork. The soft limit is my secret weapon with even totally sequenced electronica songs going out to analog and back into the Rosetta for extra kick.
Funny timing. I was just thinking about starting to do hybrid mastering of my own music and using the soft clip on my Apogee Rosetta. Time will tell how that goes, but I've also been considering acquiring a tape machine for the chain.

I have one Ensemble Thunderbolt running in my rack and another one in the box as spare unit. I love their stability, preamps and latency via thunderbolt. Got them as they are now discontinued and were sold with 1k €/unit.
Call me silly i built an 8th order sweepable low pass filter on my last year at uni ..the C777 clock is higher frequency than the 555 ...which has a tendency to creep into the upper part of the audio spectrum ..when the filter is filtering around the bass area. You use other filters to filter out the clock noise. Apogee were clever and used a higher frequency clock which didn't do this ..negating the use for other filters. Expertly explained ...big love.
A well presented comprehensive coverage of Apogee Warren well done. Not only do Apogee have top quality products, they're customer service is also excellent. I had a few questions about my situation & they were extremely helpful. I'm using an Apogee Element 46 & it's been great. I briefly had a Antelope Discrete 8. It was ok and sound-quality wise up there with Apogee. Yet too many small issues from drivers to software and DSP aka Antelopes AFX2DAW got me to drop it and come back to Apogee Symphony.
RME for me. Their drivers are extremely stable and have low latency. Furthermore, they keep updating their legacy interfaces. Their conversion is excellent on the FS series.
I had a rosseta 10years ago it was already dated but was the best conversation I'd ever heard, not just high Res but smooth and detailed, I just got myself a apogee boom for mobile use, had mixed reviews however it's quality conversation is why I took the plunge.
