Good video again mate. This venue is also just 5 minutes away from me. There's also a decent head of tench in there too but carp are pretty much the main stay! The Estuary Perch got stocked further down near canning street but seem to have swam further up river to the fresher water. Good to see!
Thanks for the update. While I like catching our native fish, I'd like to land a tench...only ever caught one before. Good to see a variety of species in the area.
Well done on the Native fish , and the Huge Carp. That spot is only 10 minutes drive from me - May have to get my gear out of the cupboard after 20 years of no use. I wonder if fisheries people have planted those natives - never heard of them there before - I do recall trout there 50 years ago
Gday Mate, nice fish! Great video aswell. Just a quick question, where about did you find a clearing fish at brimbank park? Was it near one of the carparks?
I parked in the largest car park and walked diagonally left of the toilet block down to the river. I found an opening there...but you still have to navigate a steep bank to get near the water and there isn't much room to stand.
Thats an estuary perch. Plenty of different species in Maribyrnong river in Brimbank Park. Obviously carp, it gets stocked with estuary perch, you will find big eels in there, there is also the odd trout and redfin
Great catch Wayne. Still trying to get my little fella his first fish and live 5 minutes away from there. If you don't mind can you let me the approximate spot? I've never thought about fishing there and can't believe it's at my door step.
I fished in the area below carpark B. It can be a little hard to get to as the bank is steep and the footing difficult. The fish will be distributed throughout the river so it might be best to take one trip to the park just to check areas where you can easily access the water. There is a spillway near carpark A. You could fish the area near that. It would be a bit easier to manage a youngster near the water. The cafe at car park A has a map on the wall that can direct you to the spot.
I give them to my neighbours who love them. One neighbour is Asian and other one is European. They cook completely different meals but they are both delicious.

Hi Wayne, looks closer to a lot like an estuary perch to me. Didn't know they were in Maribyrnong.
Yes, it's good to see some other species in these waters.

It's worth a trip down there.
Great video and catch 👍
Thanks Andre. Those carp were bigger than I expected.
Nice session mate, they look like estuary perch to me.
Yes, I think the VFA have stocked estuary perch.
Great video and catch
Thank you very much!

Great video, is this area south of Carpark B towards car park c?
I know where Brimbank park is but do you know the exact spot you fished?
From memory, it was straight down the hill from the first carpark.
Do you know which one ?
What bait do you prefer for carp, next time you are in are at the sheepwash annie and I will give a few tips on where to fish in this area .
If I'm targeting carp specifically I use corn, bread and maggots. If I'm going for any fish I add worms to the list.
I’ve been watching your videos for almost 4 years now, those two were nice catch. What do you do with large fish?
I give them to my neighbours who love them. One neighbour is Asian and other one is European. They cook completely different meals but they are both delicious.
@@howtofish5051 wonderful - great service to the community by sharing your catch!

Thanks for the information. I think the VFA stocks them.
