You forget the coaching carousel. Lindy Ruff was not the answer. I said it before the season started. I stand by it. Lindy Ruff is done. Not a single team he has coached past 8 years has done anything. All stopped listening to his message.
@GizmoBeach Hiring Ruff was like taking milk out the refrigerator. Finding it was spoiled. Sitting back in the refrigerator and saying "It'll be better next week". If Nashville let's Brunette go....Buffalo needs to snatch him up...Brunette would excel in Buffalo.
@michaelb5119 Can't fire the entire team. So 756 year old Lindy Ruff gets fired.....ain't like he's never been fired before. Youngest team in the league with one of the oldest coaches. Yea, that makes sense. Brunette works well with younger players. I feel he'd do a better job than Ruff.

Buffalo is a possessed hockey market. As a kid I waited years for them to win a single playoff round. then they swept Boston in the early 90's and I was on cloud 9. Now, as an older adult, I try and stay away from the NHL channel or looking for updates on the phone. What an absolute tragedy.

Flames fan here in Buffalo for four decades-plus. The Flames are the Sabres of the West. But we do have some consolation...we've won a Cup (at least in my lifetime). It's been 35 years since that time...but we DO have a Cup win. And I'll treasure that moment for all time.
The problem with the Sabres rebuild is that they did not commit fully to it. They had an excellent stock of assets at the start of their rebuild. Then they mistakenly decided to "accelerate" it. Years later and they are just spinning their wheels. Either you go all in on a rebuild, or you don't go at all.
NY Jets are waaaaaay worse and it's not even close. Unless Terry Pagulas kid nixed a real NHL trade bc the player the Sabres were acquiring had a too low a rating in Chel, we are comparing apples and antelopes.
The Jets don't compare to how bad the Sabres have been, honestly. The Jets would've made the playoffs a couple times during their drought if the NFL let half the teams in, like the NHL does. And the Sabres haven't just missed the playoffs. They've finished dead last. Again and again. One year in the whole streak could they have even been considered on the bubble. Since Pegula bought the team, they've been dead last overall in their league cumulatively, by a lot, so that they'll probably remain dead last throughout his tenure for a couple more seasons regardless of how things go from here. It sucks to be this bad. It sucks a little worse that nobody even appreciates how epically bad this team is. Just because another team out there has a similar playoff-less streak doesn't mean that they suck anywhere near as bad as the Sabres. The video, if anything, understates it.
The Sabres have no director of hockey operations, they have no one with experience who can advise the GM, Adams. Lindy Ruff was hired, but the organization refused him to hire his own assistants. That doesn't help. Finally, I don't completely blame the youth of the lineup for their failure; I blame their play.
The Sabres drafts have been HORRIBLE! Sure they picked the best players with the 1sts, 2nds and other 'given' 1st rounders. But they have laid a complete egg finding hidden/undeveloped talent down the order. Their scouts have done ZERO in the entry draft and scouting for their trades. Management is rotten from the owner on down.
@@AAA-o4g Billionaires have to make sacrifices or how else to purchase another yacht fleet? Buffalo fans need to buy that sack of crap out, turn the Sabres into the NHL version of the Packers.
Remember the Avs? Whoa their Gretzky of rebuilds. You live in a Ron Hextall lala land. Let's concentrate on the Flyers: In 2015 the Flyers drafted Ivan Provorov at 7th while Mikko Rantanen went at 10th to the Avs. Flyers drafted Nolan Patrick 2nd overall while Cale Makar went 4th to the Avs. Flyers drafted German Rubtsov 22nd overall while Tage Thompson went 26th in 2016. Tage luckily ended up on the Sabres. Had the Flyers drafted Cale Makar, Mikko Rantanen, and Tage Thompson the NHL would be completely different. If the picks were reversed the Sabres would be different. The Sabres traded 2nd overall picks Eichel and Reinhart. Eichel finished 1st in points and assists in the playoffs and Vegas won the Cup. Reinhart finished 2nd in the league with 57 goals and won the Cup with Florida. The Avs won the lottery and moved up to draft MacKinnon. The Sabres also drafted Dahlin instead of Quinn Hughes.
When it comes to "professional" futility you must put the Cleveland Browns at the same level. Since restarting in 1999, the Clowns have won just one post-season game. ONE. They have only appeared in 4 playoff games. Their overall list of failures is too lengthy to mention. I wish they would cease operations.
Great video. Send this to Sabres management, they are so scared to make moves and have such a loser mentality that it’s over before the end of free agency each year
The Pegulas have let qualified people run the Bills’ front office and that franchise has done a 180. Why they don’t do that with the Sabres is insane. Get a proper director of hockey operations and leave them alone!
They need a serious GM. I didn't miss a game from 2011-2020. Not 1. Not 1 period. Not1 goal. Not 1 face-off. Then I just couldn't justify rearranging my life to watch this team so religiously anymore. I love hockey. I love the Sabres. But there were so many games that it felt like I wanted to be there more than most of the players. Im still much more than a casual fan and I watch 99% of the games but it's in the background. I couldn't even tell you all the guys on the team right now. It's sad to lose a fan like me. My dad had season tickets right behind the net in the audience and later in the 200s in the harbor center. Before 2011 I was a huge fan too and always had a goal of watching every game in a season but never got to it but once I did I was dedicated. I scored a goal in the Aud as a little kid playing between periods before the Zambezi goes on. I'll turn the game on tomorrow, but I won't care if they win or lose. Go Bills
This shows that the draft has not really meaning more than a show, Sabres has had all possibility to pick pretty OK prospect during 13 years, but with a roster management that is below zero and a management that promostes to cuddle instead of being tough and demand accountability for the high paid salaries this is what happnes.
Buffalo losing so much is very enjoyable to a person who gets to regularly see how good of a player Jack Eichel is 😂😂. People really thought he was the problem in Buffalo 😂😂
@TmanTyler619 I encountered plenty of fans that really thought the team would be better without Eichel. Especially last season. "We almost made the playoffs" 🤣🤣
I 'd rather go to a University of Buffalo hockey game then the team who pretends to be professional. That team has zero pride or fight. The woman's USA hock ey team would smoke them.
So..... Do not say Chicago is a good example of a rebuild. Please. Being a Hawks fan the past 8yrs have been humiliating. And after Sabres lose 12 straight games, guess who has a worse record? Yup. The Sh"#Hawks, I'm sure the owners are loving every minute of it as they rake in the profits and put the most embarrassing team on the ice night after night . Just sayin. Hawks not a good example of anything but greedy Chi-town sports owners making tons of money while laughing at their fan base.
I've only recently started watching Ice Hockey (i met a Canadian girl last year, she loves Ice Hockey and has got me watching it now)and am trying to learn as much as I can, about it, your channel has been good for me learning a few things about it, thank you, Merry Christmas
The most absurd scenario I can think of is Bettman urges Pegula to go suck an egg and sells the team to Toronto Sports and Entertainment. They make necessary moves. Consolidate their strength and let Lindy Ruff do his thing and then go on to win the cup before the leafs. They're technically in the race for who can win the cup first since the last leafs cup came the same year that the Sabres franchise started out
NHL needs relegation, that would prevent this hopelessness,or at least make it less likely, nhl would have to unf**** a few things to manage it but lots of other sports leagues do it.If you don’t meet a certain standard, you’re gone, now that’s pressure.
Zucker is paying off, McLeod’s winning faceoffs. But he’s failed to nurture the kids by not getting quality vets up front and back, as guidance. F minus, he needs to go along with Pegula.
I know everyone complains about the Sabres, but the Rangers are where they are because they chose to abandon the rebuild and waste time in the playoffs for the past three years instead of actually developing the roster through the draft and playing them (though their development coaches and scouts should be fired)
Imagine all the hard work these guys did to become the top draft picks in their drafts. Only to be stuck playing for a horrible organization that just can't win. And on top of that having to live in Buffalo. No kid growing up dreaming of winning a cup would want to be stuck in that nightmare.
On long term, choosing captain is incredibly important decision as the energy that captain is emitting builds the winning or losing culture in the locker room. Despite one of Sabres' outfit looking like a Sweden national team outfit, i hope they get into playoffs someday.
Back in the day the team voted on their Captain and he was their representative to management. Now the team appoints their captain and is effectively a shill FOR management.
The first rebuild completely failed. When they traded/released players like Eichel, Reinhart, Montour, Ullmark. we felt like they had to rebuild from scratch. the core is interesting and we hoped for more consistency/efficiency from the young talent. Cozens, Peterka, Quinn, Benson, Byram, Power, Samuelsson, Levi, they all have underperformed this year. bringing veteran to help build a win mentality, they tried it with Okposo, Skinner, Johnson, Hall, they all failed at one point. I think they may have trouble attracting the good players to help rebuild the franchise. probably because Buffalo is one of the least favorite location for players from the league. i'm no GM and don't know which players the team need. moreover, it's difficult to see this young talents struggling because at one point they will want to play for a winning team and ask to leave/be reluctant to get a new contract

@ it’s not just that, it’s the fact they both haven’t won a cup or made the finals since 1967. Rangers won only 1 cup since, Chicago’s won 3, Boston’s won 3 and Detroit has won 4, while all these teams have also at the very least made finals during that time.

On paper that would fit but I still don’t see the Canucks trading either Miller or Petey imo. It’s tough to trade players of that calibre without ending up on the losing end of the deal, especially given that the Canucks want to win now while Hughes is still on his sweetheart deal
canucks lifting the cup? 🤣
I remember the Canucks choking at home against the Bruins in game 7 and their faggggy fans rioting after the game - Luongo always sucked as did the Sedins
Must have got head injury during the riots.
2010-2011 was a great year 😊
You forget the coaching carousel. Lindy Ruff was not the answer. I said it before the season started. I stand by it. Lindy Ruff is done. Not a single team he has coached past 8 years has done anything. All stopped listening to his message.
I wasn’t on board with that hire, either. They needed someone like Berube, and hired Grandpa Jones instead.
Yea fire ANOTHER coach. This new guy will save em
The "funny" thing is, they lost just as much with Jack Eichal, Ryan Oreily, Evander Kane, Robin lehne, Sam Reinhart, Linus Ullmark, Matt Moulson, Brian Gionta,Kyle Okposo ... couldnt win with them, now no top vets and young prospects who cant get over the hump.
The Panthers had a couple of former Sabres that won the cup & Eichel won the cup with Vegas
I was surprised but so happy to see Okposo in the lineup when FLA won. He wasn’t just rah-rah’ing from the pine all through their run.
@@GizmoBeach Okposo earned it
I don't think anyone should ever use the term "high level" and EA in the same sentence, but otherwise good video.
Calgary LAMES fan here.
I thought my team without a dobout has the worst NHL organization in the League..
Until i cam across this utter and unmitigated atrocity that is BUFFALO SABRES
What a Mess this organization is... just unimaginable pain and misery for their most loyal fans.. those people, i really sincerly feel bad for.
( even if I hated this team for any reason or other)
No fan base should endure and suffer this much Pain !!
Chief Operating Officer Pete Guelli - sabres. worked with the Hornets, Giants, and 0 hockey experience
@@AAA-o4g
This is the same regime that hired a guy whose most recent job was soccer coach.
Shouldve never got rid of Eichel or Reinhardt...Kevin Adams sucks
They were never gonna stay
Relocate is required. It’s painful now. Worse than Arizona
Didn't the pegulas cut "expenses" by getting rid of a bunch of scouts ?
@@AAA-o4g
Billionaires have to make sacrifices or how else to purchase another yacht fleet?
Buffalo fans need to buy that sack of crap out, turn the Sabres into the NHL version of the Packers.
@@GizmoBeach You don't believe Pegula, " If I need $ I will dig another well"
Remember the Avs?
It’s not real. It is impossible to be this bad this long in the NHL.
Go Bills
I hate hockey now because of the embarrassing butter knives
This shows that the draft has not really meaning more than a show, Sabres has had all possibility to pick pretty OK prospect during 13 years, but with a roster management that is below zero and a management that promostes to cuddle instead of being tough and demand accountability for the high paid salaries this is what happnes.
Buffalo losing so much is very enjoyable to a person who gets to regularly see how good of a player Jack Eichel is 😂😂. People really thought he was the problem in Buffalo 😂😂
No one did they spread lies to the fan base so we wouldn’t protest the team.
@TmanTyler619 I encountered plenty of fans that really thought the team would be better without Eichel. Especially last season. "We almost made the playoffs" 🤣🤣
@@slasher1087 that’s because Buffalo has a ton of straight up stupid people.
I 'd rather go to a University of Buffalo hockey game then the team who pretends to be professional. That team has zero pride or fight. The woman's USA hock ey team would smoke them.
Okay don't get ridiculous.
Haha thats so wholesome man! Glad you’ve found the channel helpful! Merry Christmas to you as well 🎅🏼
If the one solitary goal is to win the Stanley Cup, I'd argue the Leafs have been worse. At least Buffalo has been to a Final in the last 57 years.
The most absurd scenario I can think of is Bettman urges Pegula to go suck an egg and sells the team to Toronto Sports and Entertainment. They make necessary moves. Consolidate their strength and let Lindy Ruff do his thing and then go on to win the cup before the leafs. They're technically in the race for who can win the cup first since the last leafs cup came the same year that the Sabres franchise started out
25 seconds in... remove the "copium," and accept this man's story.
I’m on board 🫡🫡🫡
NHL needs relegation, that would prevent this hopelessness,or at least make it less likely, nhl would have to unf**** a few things to manage it but lots of other sports leagues do it.If you don’t meet a certain standard, you’re gone, now that’s pressure.
The players Adams gets in the off season are not really sought after by other teams
Zucker is paying off, McLeod’s winning faceoffs. But he’s failed to nurture the kids by not getting quality vets up front and back, as guidance. F minus, he needs to go along with Pegula.
@@GizmoBeach That is why those two players are here. they were left overs
Ok wise guy
What paradise do you call home?
Whats wrong with Buffalo as a city?
On long term, choosing captain is incredibly important decision as the energy that captain is emitting builds the winning or losing culture in the locker room.
Despite one of Sabres' outfit looking like a Sweden national team outfit, i hope they get into playoffs someday.
I think Dahlin can be a fine captain, just needs a better roster around him
Back in the day the team voted on their Captain and he was their representative to management. Now the team appoints their captain and is effectively a shill FOR management.
Sabres are legit one of most coolest teams in the league In terms of logos
The answer to that question will forever be ‘no’ for as long as the New York Jets exist.

The Sabres are embarrassing, but they're not nearly as bad as the NY Jets. There's at least hope for the Sabres that they can get there. To me the playoffs are within reach as long as they bring in the right pieces for the top 6 and defense. With the Jets, it's straight up depressing with them having to rebuild again

To me the Leafs will always be the worst in sports until they win a cup, just for how they torture their fanbase year in and year out. Buffalo is just kinda depressing and apathy inducing. They’re the Jets of the NHL.
What? Leafs have the 2nd most cups of all. They are no where near “worst in sports”. And before you say “but they got those when there were only 6 teams!”,tell me how many Boston, New York, Chicago and Detroit had during that time.
@ it’s not just that, it’s the fact they both haven’t won a cup or made the finals since 1967. Rangers won only 1 cup since, Chicago’s won 3, Boston’s won 3 and Detroit has won 4, while all these teams have also at the very least made finals during that time.

It’s time to admit that Dahlin is a destructive bust. Right now Sabres are wrecking Power. There is literally no player leadership as well.
What does the team need, they need to fire Kevyn Adam’s, get a new owner, and start getting players that aren’t new to the league, but players were veterans
10:05 trade Thompson or Cozens to Nashville...please. 😒

I've been a fan since day one. Their existence got me into hockey. How can you ask this question? The answer is obviously yes.
They should fold the team. Give Buffalo an expansion team in a couple of years and start over again.
What team will make the playoffs first Jets or Sabres?
Jets
Formerly the Oakland A's would like a word.
it's easy to rip dufas off. hated that trade before they even made it.
As a leafs fan, I’ll always have a soft spot for the Sabers.
Get rid of Adams. In four years his only accomplishment has been making a bad team worse.
Am soery Buffalo fans being a Canadiens fan and not really caring for American teams i hope they can figure this out mainly for the poor fans sake.
I think that Sabres are down there with Panthers…
What did the Bruins do right as the Sabers did wrong?
Lifelong Sabres fan n they are tough to watch with no hope in sight. Adams has to go
6:10 Owen Power is an established star in the league? I'm not sure what you're smoking dude.
Almost forgot he was in league🤣
Sabres haven't been good for a while... fair comment. But at least they've been done something in the past 57ish years... a couple finals and a handful of semi-finals. TML are easily the worst orgnization in Big 4 sports, let's be honest
If the right pieces aren't willing to come and play how can the expect to get better?
Sell the team and rebuild the identity
The city of Buffalo is cursed
Worst owner of all sports franchises
The New York Jets is a contender.
The "solution" is sitting in the owners box. Need better decisions made by the owner. Yes the buffelo fans deserve better. Its a great hockey market becuase good hockey beats almost anything else, playoff hockey is on another level. The nba in comparison not entertaining so much.😂
i would not say owen power comes even close to stardom in the league.

Chicago bears probably hold that spot
How is this organization making any money?

Just to think McDavid could have been a Sabre. I bet if the Oilers didn't get McDavid and you did. This video be about the Oilers
The Oilers had Ken Holland who made more better choices than non good choices. At least he made deals
Maybe Sabres need Joe Sakic.
For anybody here in 2028 I predict the Blackhawks will be the next sabres in 4 years. I believe Kyle Davidson is the worst GM in hockey. Let's see if I'm right.
