This video was awesome and glad all was well. I know it gets worry some when the slightest thing goes wrong. I am a First Officer on a MD-88 and that goes on a lot with our aircraft, however when we get the warning signs we don't hesitate to stop and fix the problem BEFORE we move on.😄
Benjamin Mills awesome! I really want to become a pilot, I’m from Scotland and I’ve always from when I remember, and from when my parents told me how young I was when I loved planes and wanted to fly them, I was around 5. It’s very cliche I know. Is there any advice on what I can do to become a pilot, I would fly anything. I’m just about to turn 18. Thanks!
The MD-88 is my all time favorite airliner! How much longer is your fleet going to remain airworthy? And when they’re retired, what else are you going to fly afterwards?
@@jetsetjoeone675 I'm not 100% sure what you mean - bleed air (from the engines) is used for a lot more than just heating the wings (for de-icing) but is also used for heating and pressurizing the cabin and even in some aircraft it is used to help start the second engine when only one is running. I also don't think any commercial airliners are made without some means of heating the wing leading edges to prevent icing/shed ice.
i've never seen an airport where you get full view of all the planes lining up for takeoff, and getting a look at the plane in front taking off, very nice
The door was shut and the crew was checking our seat belt installation. Then the captain announced that he did not like the sound of one of the engines and shut them down. He continued, that he would pilot this flight with us onboard on a replacement. Some 90+ minutes later, the captain announced that all was well, and all was well!
"Flying the friendly skies" of United, always liked flying w/them, last flight w/ them was an early AM flight Den to LAX on one of their 777s, beautiful flight especially since it was mainly a ferry flight( to position) for an upcoming Japenese trip, I was one of 6 passengers onboard!!Love SFO!
Well look on the bright side, looks like you caught one of the last 747s United would fly right there at 27:44 that would go out of service 3 months (almost to the day) after this video was published.
Had a mechanical delay with United on an EWR-SFO route and they didn't handle it well. Next trip I took to NYC was on American's A321T, which was much better.
Yes, I have no doubt. Trouble is, not everyone is you and some of them have lousy memories that forget what was said two seconds after hearing it. Others are Deaf, which makes it hard to comply with spoken instructions
Can anybody explain how they deal with delays? I mean their schedule must b changed due to delays, so all the rest planes which are supposed to fly on the same "track" they should wait for this plane? or they should keep their schedule? pls somebody explain
Was really cool watching the departure out of SFO. Live near the area; cool seeing familiar landmarks at altitude. Lost me at the nuts part, though. Nice videoing!
Nope, I already know the answer. United's 757 are old, and as planes get older the engines start wearing down and not producing as "pure" of a noise. Therefore United's RB211 on 757's dont roar as loudly as some of the newer 757's. (FYI, American, Icelandair, and United all have RB211's)
Sorry about the mechanical problems you experienced on top of the late inbound arrival. Nice how United offered a refund of sorts. Looked at a database for that day and says you had tail number N17105. Thing is pretty old, built in 1994, but interior panels (and obviously paint) look newer so quite impressive looker for an old timer. But an old plane is gonna have problems.
yeah these 757s are pretty reliable but just an unlucky case here. In the end, UA did a pretty decent job although if I had a connection, I wouldn't have been too impressed
Yeah. I just flew on N41140 built early 2000. Second newest pmContinental 757-200. You would not guess it's pushing 18 years old unless you knew its age by that registration. And flew on N19117 in 2010... was 14 at the time but seemed about half that age.
All the major airlines would like to replace those 757s at some point, but there isn't a suitable replacement for this jet available (757s ended production in 2003). Boeing tried to market the 737 as a replacement, but it lacks the performance these 757s can bring.
Forza Gamer thats what we are trained and required to do, "remained seated" from the Pilot's is a precursor for a possible exacuation and our way of ensuring everyine remained seated so we may perform our duties. So they'll say it for as long as they deem it necessary.
I've had similar thoughts but EWR has connections to the NECorridor railroad line with Amtrak and NJTransit trains that can carry you away from Newark.
The background music for the safety briefing completely eroded my confidence in the aircraft getting off the ground. That music was entirely inappropriate.
It looks worse if you land during the daytime. Depressing isn't the word...Even when we drive past on the turnpike (which can easily be seen as it runs parallel to the airport) the whole area is just ugly.
Sounds like it was an air duct issue, which is used with the oxygen circulation system in the cabin. More of an HVAC issue. But of course the engines generate the power and the air has to come from somewhere.
At 16:24 we can see a plane that is too close to the active runway, any dangerous mishap during takeoff and that plane could have been a little bit too close.
Can we appreciate a man getting through the day by jamming out
Lmao 😀
I hope the Marshall sticks work at night after the drum solo.
Respect to captain and crew for considering safety over schedule and other stuff 👍
Plus its standard to NOT TAKE OFF WHEN A WARNING LIGHT comes on. The pilots had to abort. Its the law
Dick Fitswell That depends, you’re continuing after V1 unless it’s absolutely major and the aircraft will not fly.
@RHCP9181 After V1 you won't have enough runway to stop and breakssheat up, risking fire. V1 is the point of no return you will have to go up

I hear there getting rid of the wing heaters on the 88s 90s and 717
As my Dad taught me very early when he started teaching me to fly, "Take offs are optional, landings are mandatory"

6:33".....just a small caution light"......
5:44 Lois Griffin?
One of the pilots is quagmire giggity
This video looks like flight simulator game with very good graphics for some reason
ok....
Luca94 it does to me too for some reason

@nightstalker well 54-2 says you're the idiot.
So so beautiful flying in or out of SFO! Thank you for posting this video.

It was good of the pilots to explain what had happened

Did a ferry flight on a 3 month old United B787-8 from Houston to SFO, sure beats being stuffed in there like sardines.
0:15 Every guy of Ground Team is happy and crazy, in everywhere
What happened? An issue with the engine bleed air system on the 757 and we see a guy jamming in the oxygen cart, think it was his fault?
Rejection on ground, good. Rejection in air, bad.
Damn straight
thankfully everyone was patient with everything
It's the drummer from Gorillaz
Ah I love the sound of plane engines

He means at 6:40
Likeggs haha thanks. I was confused 🧐
@@likeggs3146 Probably 12:47, there is 2 of them parked here
Thanks for the memories of flying over Newark at night. I was raised there in the Ironbound section which is where Newark Airport is located.
anyone else saddened a little bit by the shot of the United 747?
Yeah, beautiful plane. I'm going to miss them.
That guy on the oxygen cart wants a holiday.
So it’s the engine bleed air system that has caused the problem to the aircraft
Great video man, interesting to see the RTO and aftermath!
thank you! I'm glad I was able to capture as much of the aftermath as possible.
really do appreciate when pilots tell it like it is, no bullshit
Had a mechanical delay with United on an EWR-SFO route and they didn't handle it well. Next trip I took to NYC was on American's A321T, which was much better.
I need only one “Remain seated” to understand.
Yes, I have no doubt. Trouble is, not everyone is you and some of them have lousy memories that forget what was said two seconds after hearing it. Others are Deaf, which makes it hard to comply with spoken instructions
Very nice. Makes me think about flying them. Nice video
Gotta practice your paradiddles wherever you may be.
Ladies and Gentlemen out of the left side of the aircraft, you can see Stewart Copeland
Lol xD

Nicely done UAL crew!!! I hope you are on my DEN-NRT flight in August......
Was really cool watching the departure out of SFO. Live near the area; cool seeing familiar landmarks at altitude. Lost me at the nuts part, though. Nice videoing!
Great graphics, what sim is this ?
I never understood why United’s 757s are so quiet compared to others (for example American) or Icelandair
Maybe because not all airlines opted for the Rolls Royce RB211s
Nope, I already know the answer. United's 757 are old, and as planes get older the engines start wearing down and not producing as "pure" of a noise. Therefore United's RB211 on 757's dont roar as loudly as some of the newer 757's. (FYI, American, Icelandair, and United all have RB211's)
FlyingSpartan I thought United had the Pratt's
Legacy United had Pratts, Legacy Continental had Rolls. New United now has both
Exactly.

Yep, all 41 former-CO units are going strong.

Excellent video, what destination did that flight have? How many hours are you flying? Thanks for sharing
Sergio Gonzales ewr destination Newark, New Jersey aprox 5hr flight
who thought this was an airforceproud video?
Glad you all made it safely .
What type of rapper who is enjoying even under this terrible sunlight? I myself dehydrated watching this whole video.
Veega Veega ikr😂😂
nice video bro... thanks 4 report...
Better to be safe. Professional pilots take no chances with safety. Great video.
Can those flight attendants say “remain seated” enough?
Forza Gamer thats what we are trained and required to do, "remained seated" from the Pilot's is a precursor for a possible exacuation and our way of ensuring everyine remained seated so we may perform our duties. So they'll say it for as long as they deem it necessary.
Unfortunately humans are stupid and don't listen to anything. A flight attendant insures safety on flights.
Idiots still won't listen no matter how many times they're instructed.
Can the idiot passengers stay in their seats and leave the over head bins closed?
Well sadly it seems like the humans were not obeying
They're going to Newark, the best thing that could have happened to them is a delay!
I'll say! That town is a shit stained toilet. If I never fly into Newark again, that would soon enough.
I've had similar thoughts but EWR has connections to the NECorridor railroad line with Amtrak and NJTransit trains that can carry you away from Newark.
WIFIGHOST CRUISER is it because it’s mostly black?
Adam Tharpe what did anything have to do with race? God damn everyone is so fucking sensitive now
Skillz! I especially liked the 100+ mph freeway near the landing!
That air drum guy is awesome!
I saw what looked like a United 747 at SFO so did they retire yet at the recorded time?
Looks like the "oxygen staff" at San Fran airport are fully prepared to handle any emergency in a moments notice!?!
Did they go on same plane or did they have to change?
2 mins after takeoff and I'm drowsy from the sound.
Because its just too good of a sound!
Is no one going to talk about the United 747 aircraft on the taxiway?
I didn't have time to watch whole thing so you ended up reboarding after they fixed issue?
Beautiful - an RTO followed by a coughing flight attendant!
The background music for the safety briefing completely eroded my confidence in the aircraft getting off the ground. That music was entirely inappropriate.
Did you switch planes
I bet that second takeoff might’ve been unnerving for some of the passengers
Ladies and Gentleman... OXYGEN CARRRRRRRRRT!!!
Oxygen Cart: HElllllloooo SAN FRANCISCOOOOO!!
25:47 gawd dayum was the breaking that hard?
27:14 It's "forward slash".....not "back slash".
Yes, she got it wrong, but I don't get why we even need to say "forward slash." There is simply a "slash" and a "back slash."
Planes almost as ragidy as the old Tower Airline. Well for 499 dollars I took chances.
So what was the problem?
Someone was enjoying business class
that sounded like a tire blew out.
What is that oxygen cart for
a cart for the maintenance technicians and operators to service their aircraft's oxygen system? I least thats what comes up
StarAllianceMan ok thanks
You think oxygen?
Did they fix the same plane or switch to a different one?
I'm not sure what I'm watching~
Why were you taking off on 28L?
Looks like there was a really long queue line for the 28’s with flights that usually use the 1’s. Guessing the 1’s might have been closed.
Nice footage.
Cool video!!:)
thanks!
Very professional
from beautiful San Francisco to grey Newark.....

03:05 sounds like sully
At 2:55 you hear a loud pop...something happened to the engine.
History Lover that was him braking
Engine throttle shut off, brakes slammed. Could be the cargo shifting.
Why iT is rejected?
For being too much of a Nice Plane. Takeoffs require Chad Planes
@@visionist7 ah ok
It wasn't "just" an "indicator light". There was a real engine problem. They make it sound like a light just came on for no reason.
They do that so that passengers dont panic
Sounds like it was an air duct issue, which is used with the oxygen circulation system in the cabin. More of an HVAC issue. But of course the engines generate the power and the air has to come from somewhere.
Nice 5 subs away!
Nice landing.
Great!

Sorry you had to go to Newark.

Drumming skills
Is that 757
I didn't know that united's 757 has scimitar winglets
Most likely B739 or B738
It is 100% a 757. Just need to look at the business first seating and the RB211 engine on the wing.
nope its 75-2
757-200. Tail N17105 that day.
Nice
rock on dude !
Why would anyone want to go to Newark?
I know, right? Taking off from SF and landing at Newark. At least it was dark out so people couldn't see how crappy Newark looks from the air.
Lol.
At 16:24 we can see a plane that is too close to the active runway, any dangerous mishap during takeoff and that plane could have been a little bit too close.
its not too close. The entire aircraft is past the hold short line.
That was nice of them
Better than Lars
and oh yes ive heard it before
sit the fuck down! how hard can this be?!?!
United Cabin Crew's are the Worse.
Edward Nelson loser
Depends on the crew. But usually no. This was probably a former Continental crew with seniority.
"This shows the AFTERMATH of the rejected takeoff".....OH, the HUMANITY!! LOL!!!
