Sunroof has drain tubes going down the windshield pillars. These can get clogged. Ours froze up in cold weather and got completely dislodged. Removed plastic covers from the pillars to discover this. Dripping water is bad for the electronics which are everywhere.
That's because you haven't had the sunroof leak yet or your are good about checking and unclogging the drain. Also you probably change your fluids at the proper intervals.

I had car sitting for some time, then accelerated too fast and got some engine error. Dont know what was that, but disconencted battery waited and back on. Problem gone. But seems will have to investigate soon what causing this
ok long shot here, I have a 2005 xc90 that needed a jump start, after that we have no turn signals, high beams, radio, etc... have checked the fuses ... maybe i missed one? if so which one??
Alternator
i have a 2005 xc70 and i am not getting the awd to work. checked fuses they are ok. i do not hear any grinding noise from the trans, i am the second owner, don't think they first owner ever took it anywhere that the awd would be needed. can you tell me what i should be looking for to find out what the problem might be. i read that id the angle drive splined sleve is broken that it would not make any noise is that true. thanks
AWD is All Wheel Drive meaning it's always on. 4WD is driver choice to have 2WD or 4WD. So if your all wheel drive is not working there is either something really wrong or you have a 2WD.
Your right angle drive gear sleeve splines are worn out. It’s about $135 part.
With the engine off pop some grip-tastic gloves on and slide under your car. Try to turn the propshaft. If it turns your AWD isn't working.
THANK YOU! (antiskid control sensor) Now I know what happened & how to fix the antiskid message given on the dash. My sunroof was leaking like crazy. I've fixed that since.
Hi @Timotayo_yt curious to know how you fixed this problem?
@@petertran8290 I swapped out the whole sunroof assembly with the sunshade & glass attached.
Sunroof has drain tubes going down the windshield pillars. These can get clogged. Ours froze up in cold weather and got completely dislodged. Removed plastic covers from the pillars to discover this. Dripping water is bad for the electronics which are everywhere.
thanks man. my 2005 had the radio go and i now have Anti-skid service message on
I had that changed radio to a pioneer now central locking and alarm play up lol
2006 xc90
Thanks for the info however I have a 2006 with the 2.5L 5 cylinder, 250,xxx miles and have had none of these “common” problems.
Jason Carlson when did you get the car?
That's because you haven't had the sunroof leak yet or your are good about checking and unclogging the drain. Also you probably change your fluids at the proper intervals.
@@MrJinwright what drain do you speak of? I need to know because my sunroof leaks and when I bought it the fabric along the sides of the front window has water damage as I see alot of the Volvo XC90 have that issue. So if you have any information on this I would appreciate it
@@jessicawhitefoot-dendy5665 ua-cam.com/video/WQpQRAd7uLU/v-deo.html
@@jessicawhitefoot-dendy5665 volvos have drain tube at all four corners of the sun roof. Depending on if you park under trees and such, they can clogg and the water drains down the front pillars. What is the second item he mentioned? Some sort of sensor?
Bryan Watson i believe its the "YAW sensor"
Volvo Yaw Rate Sensor - Genuine Volvo 30667565
Thank you for the update.
I'm sorry but I couldn't understand what the second ($500) sensor was. Yaray? Somebody please help!
I think he is saying its the YAW sensor...
Enock Evens... Thanks. Recently bought a used 2007 Audi A4, WITHOUT an airbag recall. So far,... so smooth.😁
Great video, man!
Thank you for sharing!!!
Radio display and yaw rate sensor both went bad on my family's 2005 XC90.
can you make a list because some of the stuff is hard to understand because of your accent
Are these problems for all xc90s?
Thank You.... Very Good Information.. greg
Thank you very much for this info!
Can you replace with after market parts when something needs replacing?
"Standard Motor Products" and/or "Intermotor" branded parts are Bosch factory parts.
Stay gold.
Mine shutters and idk why it's doing it
Are these worth buying outside of warranty? Currently looking at an '06 XC90 V8 with 100K miles.
Stay away from the V8 Yamaha engine. Also stay away from the T6 with the junk GM transmission. You want a 2.5L 5cyl or a 3.2 6 cylinder
mcnuggs hell no took all day to change fan belt
Look for a mid-'07 to '08 V8, after they fixed the cam bearing issue and transmission issues. No timing belt to change. I bought my '07 V8 4 years ago with 100K miles on it. It's almost at 230K now and still going strong. Hoping to drive it to 300K+.
As a few others here said, the 2.5T is the best one, even though it’s the older model (surprisingly). The v6 and v8 models that came after are known for transmission failures. And it’s a fun drive, too!
I have a 2010 Volvo XC90 I purchased in 2014 with 50k miles. Lately it’s been one thing after another, ABS, anti-lock brake system, tire pressure system. I got a quote from the dealer on the ABS anti-lock brake system & was told it could cost as much as $7000! That is outrageous! I had a Volvo 740 years ago & didn’t have these kind of issues! Ford purchased Volvo & Jaguar so now that’s got me wondering! FORD, Fix Or Repair Daily or Found On the Road Dead! 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Everything FORD touches turns to crap
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, the Chinese company that bought Volvo Cars in 2010, said on Wednesday that it would acquire an 8.2 percent stake in AB Volvo, a Swedish manufacturer of trucks, from the activist investment firm Cevian Capital.Dec 27, 2017

I have an xc90 and recently when I start it up when the engine is cold, it accelerates very deeply like one or two times before it goes normal again, put in a professional code scanner and no codes in relation to that have shown up, any ideas?
it could be issue with throttle body, you may want to clean it first and see if that helps,
VERY HELPFUL INDEED, THANKS
I have a 2004 xc70,it's working fine but the only thing that I dont like is that is too low,can it be lifted a few inches.?
don J F. Put XC90 springs and struts under it, instant lift
How do you tell if its the haldex module or the transfer case that's malfunctioning?
The drive shaft to rear wheels turns.continuously unless the angle gear at front is broken. Does anyone change the fluid and filter inside the Haldex module? To prevent pump and DIM burning out?

Ivy Ivon spark plugs
Can't these parts b bought on Amazon or another parts website? I NEVER go 2 the dealer, they've WAY too expensive.
i was thinking the same thing . This is bananas.
Autozone advance oriley napa all sell the same aftermarket junk parts. You bought a german car, parts are shipped from germany. So of course parts are expensive. Don't complain about expensive parts when u chose a german car. Expensive cars equals expensive parts. It seems common sense but it never amazes me at how many people don't realize that.
My Passat parts aren't expensive
I have an 065 with 235,000km on it. only thing of these 3 is the radio went as well. found one at a scrap yard for $300
Wonderful keep going mate. Is it possible to get plug and play GPS and media player for XC90 2005?
factory navigation can be added on xc90, I don't think media player can be added as plug and play
K. A. Yes it is posible, look for this vídeo "Volvo XC90 Android DVD big Display" , that brand is Seicane
Thank you Juan Jose Ramirez and volvoproject, I tried and contacted many companies and they all said there is some wiring modification needed if the XC90 model is 2005 or older. I don't have enough experience for wiring modification and looking for plug and play system (if available) for my XC90 2005.
K. A. Contact IPD they are in the US and might help you out, justo type "IPD Volvo " in you bowser.
Looking at 2004 xc90 T6 260k miles, the car is in excellent condition, but weary of all the bad reps about the tranny & other stuff.. 1 owner,2nd ownerlast 18months!! Not a gambler..
I currently have over 40+ electrical issues on my 2008 XC90 with the 3.2 v6. The shop I brought it to (not a dealer) because I did not want to get hosed. They told me it would be "going down the rabbit hole" on these electric problems. I agree. I am saving up yo buy me an old "Square Chevy/GMC truck with REAL 4X4 lockouts on it. I also won't require a degree from M.I.T. to work on the truck either. Plus the parts are plentiful and a hell of s lot cheaper in the wallet.
Of course an old Chevy or GMC truck will be cheaper, have you used VIDA to confirm you actually have 40+ electrical problems? I used to work with a sr Master tech who thought I was a lunatic for working on saabs and Volvos when in reality they are actually very easy to work on, most techs are afraid of euro cars
@@TheCheasequah3 the shop that specializes in Saabs and Volvos specifically did do a read anc print off the ECM and it does have north of 40 fault codes in the electrical system. And about 3/4 of those deal with the all wheel drive system.

Hate to break it to you- but every car has problems that they’re famous for. Personally, I’ve driven many different vehicles. My 14 year old Volvo has been the best. I’ve driven newer cars that needed serious repairs well before 14 years. This one hasn’t needed anything more serious than an intercooler hose.
I have a 2007 XC90 nothing but problems. They are garbage. Stay away. Never again Volvo. Buy Honda, Nissan or Toyota.
My parents bought a used 2007 xc90 for $7000 and have put about the same amount into it to safety. Nothing but problems. I swear their car is a lemon. The only thing luxurious about this car now is the nice leather seats.
I got 2004 xc90 150000 miles 1500bucks

With your accented English and the speed with which you say the names of each part, I find it impossible to understand what you are saying. Slow down, enunciate, or subtitle your video. Thanks.
this has nothing to do with some of the nice employees there, the upper management and nepotistic middle management has to go (fired for cause, the cause being republican/communist). this will happen, in our life time, perhaps even during current (exotic) administration.
beijing and moscow have to go asap.
because are made in china
I can watch repeatedly the video or these people who don't speak English, as a native language, can name the parts more slowly and write the part name, even on a piece of paper in front the camera.

i forgot to mention something, stating for my worlds. there is a very modern (pseudo spiritual) movement in both china and usa. it is called falun gong. it has exceptional physical results resulting to perfect health, longer life and exceptional independence from western bucher for a buck so called medical system. so far so good, nothing notable happened in here (us) of course. in china however, there are documented cases of falun gong members disappearing (murdered for organs for fucking communist party upper echelon members). so you get kidnaped, murdered slowly for organ donation. wouldn't this be worth the glass i was talking about, or at least confiscation and closing of any chinese corporation here, followed (same day) with a friendly syringe for the "brilliant" so called leader? i would say so, but rest is just 2 cents cheap talk. again, not a hate message!
wtf??
