wow i was 16 years old when i heard this. now im 28. and it still warms my heart. i love alek szahala.
i also found it in my late 20s and 10 years later it still overshadow most elecro composers, its a shame this dude did not folowed music carrier, there is something deep in his composition that no ai , no other electronic dj can replicate, it seams basic first time you hear it, but the more you listn to it, the more layers you discover

For those, who says "trance, speed trance, no hardcore"... Freeform is Hardcore. Freeform=Trancecore. From mix of two genres, Hard Trance and Happy Hardcore, new style was born - Trancecore, in mid 1990s. And later, in early 2000s, Kevin Energy renovated it, revolved to new sound, called Freeform.

I disagree, i have listen to hardcore and I dont see any element from it here, what i listen is trance just at high BPM (aka Hard Trance). People loves to create new tags but anyway this is an awesome track so this tag thing doesnt matter much, lets enjoy the music.

Unfortunately he's right. I hate to bicker about pigeon-holes when we could be enjoying the music, but freeform IS a subgenre of UK hardcore. That doesn't mean it's substandard ;) it's just the way it is.

IMO "Freeform" fits well because you can hear all the techno influences, psych influences, even UK hardcore influences. Freeform is a hybrid of genres and so that's why I prefer it. This song would definitely fit in a Hard Trance mix though...so I'm not really disagreeing with you.
Doesn't really matter what you call it though. These names and titles are only really helpful when someone wants to find more of this sort of music. Some people fight over names of genres a bit too much.

I'm finnish, this is Freeform to us and was officially marked as Freefrom when released. Or Freeform/Kiksu/Trance
lol, far far off from kiksu or just "trance". Kiksu was a name for cheesy uplifting "pop" trance like Tiësto's early stuff. Way slower than this, like 138 to 140+ max.

Sure, RMB - Spring, RMB - Whispering, RMB - Banjo Love, Amorph - Sunflow (Oliver Lieb Remix) are some clear examples that come to mind. You can tell very easily that it's not happy hardcore, or anything else even, except for Rave :)
Yoji Biomehanika used to have a lot of Rave influences in his music as well btw

@joei1382 That is why it's called Freeform. When it's hard to pin a genre, you apply "Freeform" because it represents a mish mash of genres.

Well, I don't really know much about it but from what I can /hear/ it sounds like a subgenre of Rave, actually. That's the only genre I can think of that has the emphasis on the same aspects as Alek's music. You can also retrace psytrance influences to rave, as well as the tempo btw. But heck, since Rave is never seen as a supergenre but as a subgenre idk.

Noooooooo it most certainly is not ;) Hard Beats Collective, Watchtower Records, Stamina, A-tech, Smiling Corpse, Rebuild, are just a few labels that spring to mind and more are emerging all the time. Much good freeform about, in the UK anyway! And some awesome events :)

faster doesnt mean hardcore, this song has a pure trance basis and atmosphere, I would call it hard trance or speed trance rather than hardcore.

Just sorta saw this comment again. I will never call this freeform if you think freeform is a subgenre of hardcore. This has no hardcore elements in it.
