People can criticize certain things in the draft or certain signings this offseason if you want but the bottom line to me is that this team got better. Our defensive line is definitely better and our offensive weapons are better and younger with more upside, plus I think they fit a lot more with Trevor and our offense all around. The only thing is I really wish we invested more into the offensive line because it was a serious problem last year but we at least added Mitch Morse and some depth in Javon Foster in the 4th round and we didn’t lose anyone in free agency so it’s still BETTER than it was I just don’t know HOW MUCH better it’s going to be. Hopefully we still add a good depth player or two on a cheap deal especially on the defensive and offensive line but overall I liked our offseason and I think if we stay healthy this year we’re gonna be in the playoffs for sure. Go Jags!
I said the whole blessing in disguise too with swapping BTJ for Ridley. Not only do you get a younger receiver who’s more athletic, has a higher upside, and fits the offense better. You made up for everything you lost in the trade for Ridley and than some with the trade back for a guy who they were gonna take at 17 anyway. Good stuff.
Damn, calling that Gabe Davis move as an idea is pretty nuts! Very rare to even be remotely on track with what the team plans since at times it can almost seem random.
Offensive line is average at best. Absolutely flabbergasted as to why Trent and Doug didn’t feel the need to improve the o-line after last season. “T-law steps back, BTJ wide open down the sideline!! Oh no Trevor sacked!! Pressure got to him from the inside!” I hope I’m wrong but I think we’re gonna be hearing a lot of this this season lol.
We basically have Three prominent players from The Ravens. Nelson, Duvernay, and Darby. Good solid players that can do damage at anytime . Our interior line is stout and ready to route anybody. I remember we got Cisco and Cj Henderson at the same time same draft and look who’s still around. Cisco became better of the two while Henderson was drafted higher first round from Florida. You never know how things are going to go or who’s a stud/ extremely great player. A diamond in the rough. Brian TJ maybe the best Receiver in this draft when it’s all said and done. Houston has gotten better on paper but it all comes down to which team is most physical and comes together as a core group with the right chemistry z
That's why I would've drafted the corner you wanted all the corners were on the board so we could've had the best corner. I know we got Thomas Jr but I would've grabbed Quinyon Mitchell then a reciver in round 2
Texans have arrived! Really fast they drafted amazing and all their players have played amazing the coaching staff is awesome especially the head coach so the jags have a huge gap to fill in. I think they got better but not enough I don't believe but ya never know what happens during training camp or preseason and regular season. But it should be fun to watch hopefully!
I wouldn’t be too worried about cb. every year each team is needing that position anyways, plus we added a lot to that position in the draft and FA. the issue will definitely be depth help for both lines
I think they did pretty good but that Gabe Davis move is still in question to me. If he actually shows up and produces then I'll feel better. He disappeared too many times in Buffalo and was often hurt. I believe the Jags OC was terrible and never really used Ridley correctly.
I just hope that mostly 'bring it back' O-line can block. Getting rid of Calvin Ridley is addition by subtraction. If you want someone who drops half the balls thrown to him, runs the wrong route half the time, and what balls he did catch IMMEDIATELY turn around and run 2 yards in the WRONG DIRECTION by all means...root for Tennessee.
I feel pretty good about the offseason. I wish we had addressed the interior of the Oline. I feel like this is the biggest weakness on the team. Mitch might be ok, idk. I wish we had gotten aggressive and brought in a vet.
@@runitback2136 He still has an excuse that we didn't really upgrade the interior O-Line, other than adding Morse. If Morse gets hurt, we may see a repeat of 2023.
This was by far the best offseason we've had under Baalke, but we still made some major errors. If I had to put a grade on it, I'd give it a C+. If we would've addressed edge rusher earlier in the draft, instead of wasting a pick on Jordan Jefferson (who I had a 6th or 7th round grade on) and if we would've gotten some interior O-line help instead of reaching for a kick returning RB, I might have given this draft a B+ or even an A-. I still don't like the signing of Gabe Davis though. I believe Zay Jones is a better receiver from a production standpoint, but the problem with him was cost and availability. He was hurt way too much, so I'll call this one a wash. I, like you, was praying that we didn't re-sign Calvin Ridley. He was never a true #1 WR and he never will be. BTJ has a much better chance of being that kind of receiver. I expect him to be our version of CeeDee Lamb by 2026. I was originally against drafting a kicker, because rookie kickers rarely ever pan out with the team that drafts them, but Cam Little was the only kicker I had on my board and I'm still shocked two kickers were taken ahead of him. I have fairly high expectations for this kid. He has been money from 40-55 yards and he is automatic on extra points. I still believe Maason Smith was drafted a round too early, but he is a boom or bust pick with a very, very high ceiling. I sincerely hope he pans out. If he does, drafting him where we did will be a brilliant move. I also love the Jarrian Jones selection. IMO, he was one of the top 3 Nickle corners in this draft. It was the third day picks where Baalke really lost me. I really wanted OT Caedan Wallace who was chosen way earlier than expected, so he was no longer an option. Walter Rouse who went in round 6, was my backup plan at OT, but the team chose to go with Javon Foster. I don't dislike Foster, I just see his ceiling being slightly better than Walker Little and I wanted more. I see him as a consistent swing Tackle. Jefferson was by far our worst pick at #116. I would've chosen Tanor Bortolini who went one pick later. He has experience at OG and Center and would've allowed us to ease fans' worries and we could've immediately cut Luke Fortner. If it were me, I immediately sign free agent Mason Cole to be the backup Center and I still cut Fortner. From pick #116 on, other than the Cam Little selection, I thought the picks were basically throwaways. I basically know nothing about Prince, we could've found a kick returner in the UDFA signing period and I have no clue why we wasted a pick on Myles Cole. He's completely useless. He had only 5 sacks in 6 years of college football and 2 of those came in one game against tiny, Tarleton State. He's basically a bigger version of K'Lavon Chaisson.
No excuses for Trevor he has everything i don’t want to hear anything about the WR room or the offensive line if he’s healthy all season and still plays mid because like you all said “Baalke is Masterclass “
Listen everyone, finding the next Brady or Mahomes is hard. The jags just don’t have the next great QB. I hope people understand this. It’s time to start thinking about the next draft for a QB. The jags have a great team and had a great team. Trevor just fell short many times over, and it happens. The coordinators made great plays, and Trevor missed so many so many so many open players through the whole season and it ended in that exact way by missing an open player in the end zone. I hope Trevor looks in the mirror and asks for an average pay and save some dignity, because he hasn’t earned anything above average, he had an incredible WR crew, a great coordinator, coach, defense, special teams, etc. But I’m ready to move on and I already accepted that we need to start planning to having the right pieces together for the next QB. I’m not excited about this season, I don’t know anyone who is. It’s the good old jags kind of season. I wish we got rid of Trevor and draft a QB. We know who Trevor is and I feel sad that coaches are not making the moves they know they should’ve made for the future of the team.
We may have gotten better a couple key positions but it's gonna come down to how Trevor plays. Honestly I'm glad we got Mac jones maybe he can be Petersons nick foles if Trevor plays like shit. Fingers crossed Trevor balls out
The biggest problem I have with this team STILL is Press Taylor. He's as good of a play caller as Luke Fortner is a starting center. I really hope something changes with that offensive coaching staff, especially given this offensive leaning current day NFL.
Maason Smith can be very good. He has a high ceiling, but Jefferson was a wasted pick. He's useless in pass rush and despite how much he can bench press, he is only marginal against the run. He wasn't even a starter for LSU until the last 6 games of the season.
Just concerned that the team drafts on upside and potential. Draft gets a C, at best. So, it’ll take two years, to catch Houston. Because, unlike the Jags, they’ve hit home run after home run lately.
If the draft hits its ceiling, it will be one of our best ever. If not, its gonna be another bad draft. Boom or bust. 27 million under the cap, grab an interior linemen and a competent corner.
Hopefully we get back on track and make the playoffs jags werent bad last year the month of decemeber of us not being physical killed us and ridley was never the answer and brian thomas and t law should be fun to watch
I honestly know people will not like this statement but, eric hallet and greg junior, maybe just maybe in our sorrow last year in the meltdown we could have missed some good players.
hope your doing ok true statement from the oldguy here bye alafaya trl. focusing on team, therefore strength and conditioning was brought up, explain not one fit,s all , thanks have a super day .
Jags don’t win 5 games with this schedule. Mac jones starts by week 9. Trevor aint the guy. The best player on this team is josh Allen and he gets tagged and Trevor gets extended. Pederson would never have drafted Lawrence. Look at Houston why are they better than the jags? Quarterback! You might not get to the Super Bowl with a rookie qb but you KNOW when you have your guy. Lawrence is lost with good defense and the schedule is full of them. It’s no secret why the jags brought in a veteran qb that’s relatively young. Good news is that pederson is top shelf and won’t hesitate to bench wonderboy when he crashes. The best receiver in the league is only as good as the quarterback throwing him the ball.
Jaguars showing some positive improvement gonna be a great season.
Yes sir!
i like the new roster...but yea, the o-line is still a huge question mark!
People can criticize certain things in the draft or certain signings this offseason if you want but the bottom line to me is that this team got better. Yeah man me and baalke saw eye to eye on that one

Being average would be a huge step up from the last 2 seasons.

That's why I would've drafted the corner you wanted all the corners were on the board so we could've had the best corner. I know we got Thomas Jr but I would've grabbed Quinyon Mitchell then a reciver in round 2
Same here. The WR class was stacked. We had 2 legit DB go one pick before us and one pick after us.
Texans have arrived! Really fast they drafted amazing and all their players have played amazing the coaching staff is awesome especially the head coach so the jags have a huge gap to fill in. I think they did pretty good but that Gabe Davis move is still in question to me. If he actually shows up and produces then I'll feel better. He disappeared too many times in Buffalo and was often hurt. I believe the Jags OC was terrible and never really used Ridley correctly.
We’ll see, every ball catcher besides Ridley got better after signing with us
Where did you get your Freddy T jersey from?
I just hope that mostly 'bring it back' O-line can block. Getting rid of Calvin Ridley is addition by subtraction. Agreed.

Yes!......yes they did.
I'm saying yes too. Still some doubts on the OLine, but overall a W!👌🏈
So no excuses for Trevor this year if he’s healthy all season..right?
Depends if he gets the protection he needs..to keep him healthy imo🙏. Hopefully he will, and Jags more physical this year.

Your usually pretty accurate bro.. Just a thought itd be cool if you had like a video of this new season coming up like a 2024 25 season hype video.
