      Its because of the stigmata that exists in america, even with the specific term of "Shrink" being used in many different states and such. Correlates a lot to not only the medical bills they'd have to pay for the evaluation but also of being "Discovered" To have mental problems, even though thats pretty much not an issue in many countries anymore.

      Its not just in America either - talking about mental illness is fraught, the idea that if it gets out and your colleagues and friends find out, all of a sudden you're "the crazy one"...its one of the reasons I think portraying mental illness in a positive way on tv shows is a good thing - aids in removing the stigma.

    I get that Dr Choi really wanted to help that boy but he was in the wrong here. The woman who was injured was an innocent party and her doctor was dead right to refuse Dr Choi's request. The real person at fault here is the father who refuses to accept that his son is suicidal.

    As someone who lives with depression, I understand being suicidal, but the complete disregard for another's life is unforgivable. I feel for the boy, but endangering another person's life through a suicide attempt is just awful and I just can't see there being a good enough excuse for that. Being suicidal does not let you off nearly killing someone. I hope he gets the help he needs, but I also hope he faces repercussions for his actions.
    Also, Dr. Choi was out of line this episode, if anyone is to blame it would be the boy's father. Waking up a patient who has just come out of a life-saving surgery in order to help another patient is wrong.

      I feel like most people don't realise what the consequences can be. I think most would think that since others are in a car then they'd be fine, but that's not always the case. But people who consciously take other people with them are a different story.

      You really don’t understand suicide from depression at all - based on what you just said!
      It doesn’t have anything to do with trying to hurt other people due to being selfish - the ONLY focus is taking yourself out of the equation so you’re not in pain or a burden to people any more.

    • @hyde7102

    • @dragonagegirl
      @dragonagegirl Рік тому +12

      @@KalraSura When you jump from an overpass, you know there are cars driving below and likely thought that if he didn't die on impact to the road, someone would likely accidentally run him over. I mean an overpass is literally a bridge or road or railway that crosses over another road. You can see cars down below from an overpass. He obviously did not intend to hurt the woman or even thought of the consequences that would come from it other than his own death, but it doesn't change the fact that she was severely injured due to his actions. Just like the cases where people try to commit suicide by jumping in front of cars and the one jumping ends up only injured, but the drivers end up dying.
      The suicidal person's mental health is obviously an important factor to consider and he absolutely needs and deserves to get help from a mental health professional or facility, but when your means of suicide puts others at risk, that has to be taken into account too. Intention does not stop the devastating consequences that happen after

    I’ve come to understand why people get so defensive when a psychiatrist or mental health comes up because they assume the worst or that their relative or friend is crazy.
    That’s not always the case, they are there to asses the mental status of the patient and to see if they are in fact a danger to themselves and others. Sometimes seeing a psychiatrist even if you don’t have mental problems actually helps and it sometimes also improves your physical health as well.
