Lucky myself to also have watched them live at Pizza Express Soho London (25th Anniversary), and happening upon and chatting up cool lad Limahl (Kajagoogoo) there, then a group photo thereafter.
Oddly enough I hadn’t heard this song before. I’m in Southern California. But I really like it. It’s got something really nice that came together on it. Yes it’s very Jazz/Funk. And I’ve listen to quite a bit of music in my 68 years. But I’d never came across this nor the group.

Hiphop got me into jazz back in the 80s when I used to listen to breakbeats from the 60s and 70s, it opened up my ears to funk and jazz although I used to love jazz funk in the late 70s and grew up listening to early 70s funk and classic disco so guess had an ear for it. If you want a fantastic group to listen to then try Steely Dan as you might have overlooked them thinking they were just a 70s rock band only but they have a fantastic blend of different influences on the jazzy side but its the type of music you feel like you've always heard.

Went to a few Shakatak concerts in the early 80's, the good old days when you didn't have to sit half a mile away from the performers in some arena and watch them on a big screen! One time I was about 4 rows from the front at Harrogate Conference Centre and I made eye to eye contact with the lovely Jill. Still gives me goosebumps when I think about it ❤

I always liked this singers sweet voice, 80s through and through. Remembering the extreme styles - shoulder pads, rolled up jacket sleeves, jodphurs, riding boots and the big hair that ruled at the swankiest wine bars in town, and that was just the men!
The quality of two areas is way better than current days: (1) The camera work; (2) EVEN IF the whole song was mimed, as a pianist the Shakatak pianist is THE pianist. No sustain pedal, which is great for supreme quality clipped jazz. Amazing, a go-to track, and world-renowned.
