Adding to the topic for my late '98 bimmer that apart from these points i got quite a lot of rust on my front doors in the bottom and around my front window(window frame columns). To be honest I probably did what I had to do on time because I didn't need to cut off any metal on my read pannels and side pannels. Also a thing I had to do as a pre facelift owner was to repair my cracked rear subframe where it also had some rust started to form.
Well to be honest i cant complain as its a 98 car and we are 2024 now my rust started in last 2 years so 24 years plus I got an LSD diff and visit some drift tracks from time to time
As an e46 owner myself I'm sorry to say that these cars tend to rust from inside out. It's a losing battle. A lot of owners I know never returned to this chassis again after this problem and instead learned to live with the e90s and e87s ( And probably I'll do the same despite really liking this platform. It's a very nice car to drive, but flawed in so many ways.)
You know what.. a collased jack pad means straightening and strengthening the point and weld in new sill peaces. You can do this on your driveway. Its not a car killer.
Daniel, great video. Love how you're keeping your E46 fresh! 👍
