It's so night and day with comparing the heads. I was never the slightest fan of that original, so it really bummed me out that I thought this is all we'll ever get. SO glad a revisited it and put out one of if not their best head sculpts ever. I'd love to hear why they decided to go with such an absurd _'not true to the character'_ expression.
I know the licensing is always tricky, but here's hoping they do a Freddy 2.0. from the green stripes pretty much being black, the entire torso not looking like a real person (probably a thin padded suit would help - but no way am I gonna attempt to remove that sweater), the un-human pencil thin neck, a fedora that sits too high/no reason why it shouldn't be removable, and that thin face that doesn't capture Robert Englund.

Nice! You're one of the few that has even mentioned this is a re-release. Normally I sell the original the moment the new one goes up for pre-order (before the aftermarket price plummets), but couldn't with this one. Gonna have to switch out the tie with that original one, since Sideshow has apparently you ran out of plain black fabric. They used that same movie innacurate fancy print on the inside of David's jacket too.

5:45 Collectors have been screaming to Sideshow for the longest that none of us like these ugly cheap plain hexagon bases. Presentation is everything, and it makes your figure look more like a dolly on display. The rectangular bases (with maybe a print on top) and the metal lookin' nameplate really elevates the figure and makes them look like a museum piece.
Cause it's cheaper, I typically get the oval stands w/name plate, then slap on some custom decals from Evilface. I usually just do it with figures that don't come with stands; so I have dozens of Sideshow figures with these gaudy bases...and that'd be *_way_* too expensive to upgrade 'em all.

6:03 With talking about Sideshow's older stands, are you talking about their thin round ones? They'd have the name of the line/movie logo printed on it. Been collecting modern 1/6 since '99, and I don't recall them ever doing one with a nameplate. And the only hexagonal base I recall that had a print on it was X-Wing Luke...which was like the floor of the ship hanger.

“Little better head sculpt”? Buddy, the new one IS Michael Keaton. The first one looks like rob Schneider attending a Halloween party 😂

Some other differences to the outfit besides the patterning on the new tie is you have the button on the fly of the pants with the original. Haven't taken my new one out, but from all the pics and videos I've seen, it looks like there's some very subtle weathering/slight fadedness to the black stripes, compared to the original which is very pristine looking.

Yes, the original production photos show a button. Luckily many of my past figures came with backup stick on buttons in case one fell off so I can just use that.

As an OG 44 y/o fan of all these beloved properties, I'm not one for bashing a sequel, prequel, or remake before it comes out. Best thing to do is just not have any expectations. But man, Beetlejuice 2 was _really_ bad. From the really cheesy moments like the soul train thing, to the big bad (Sally lady) where there wasn't a showdown at all. They were bouncing back and forth between multiple main plots. The writers just gave up, so let's just have a sand worm wrap things up. I was so confused at the end in the church, not knowing is this the real world or the afterlife. Apparently it was the real world, but I'm not sure how all these ghosts (including the sand worm) came in like nothin'. Then with the "influencers", fuck 'em lol. Apparently they're just eternally trapped in their phones, and us as the audience aren't supposed to care or question.
There was too much emphasis on Charles - I don't know why...especially with that dude's real-life inclinations. I was initially confused on the dream sequence at the end, not knowing who that kid was at the viewing window when Astrid was giving birth. I thought the copy I was watching messed up when it went to some other dude speaking Italian in that flashback scene. It all felt like a season of Goosebumps or "Netflix Beetlejuice" all mushed together. It would've been more entertaining to watch Danny DeVito mop the floors for two hours.
