I've been playing the Cobra one-length irons for a while now. I will never go back to variable-length irons. The "shorter" clubs (8, 9, Pw, Gw, Sw) are easier to hit than ever before.
@Ricky_rickito i have the LTDx by cobra and they are all 7i length. I love them, like OP, and will likely never go back. My game improved tremendously from day 1 of hitting them. One set up(minor adjustments over time) makes it super easy for beginning golfers. Started with them shooting mid-90s, im now trying to break 80. I shoot 82/83 regularly and 90% of that issue is driver based. I highly recommend people try them
@@Ricky_rickito 15 years ago, I purchased a set of Orlimar irons s/h - SW to 4 iron. After a few months, I had my local pro shorten the 4, 5 and 6 iron 1/4 inch apart from the 7 iron. I also had midsize grips fitted. I played so much better with them and the pro was really surprised, saying that he thought I was definitely onto something.
"Spin gapping" is irrelevant especially when you're playing same length irons. Just because you label it an 8 instead of a 6 doesn't change what the ball is doing. If your 150 yard club launches at 22 and spins 9000 rpms, calling it a 9 iron instead of a gap wedge literally does nothing, the ball flies the exact same but if you label it a 9 iron it's magically spinning the right amount but if you label it gw it's now spinning too much? Yeah that's just nonsense.
@@kourt2469 ok, so what should he call them? the label means nothing, he gaps his 14 clubs the same way we all do he just has way more speed so has to take loft off for the flight/spin numbers hes looking for.
I guess it’s just an easy way for the player to identify. I’ve got a Japanese set with just the lofts stamped and it’s actually tough to remember what means what at times! But yes in this case, totally friggin irrelevant!😂
When you have the speed of players like DeChamBeau, the reason they deloft them is to set proper gapping distances and ball flight height. If they didn't the ball would ballon way up in the air and spin too much. I would be willing to bet that your peck height is a good bit lower than his with the same club. Therefore, less stopping power. His stock Lob 60* wedge is 110-yards, and he works off 15-yard gaps, that's how the lofts turn out the way they are. All that matters regardless of loft is does the PW launch and descent at proper PW angle, does the 8I launch and descent at proper 8I angle etc. BTW in the late 80's a stock PW was 50* just for one type of reference. Joe I would like to see you play these iron heads in shafts, grips and different lengths like you would normally use to see how the roll and budge iron faces work for you. Brysons one plane swing, very much like Moe Norman, make these irons with all their out of normal features work for him. Good luck using them in a tournament that seems a tough task, thanks as always!
Loft and swing speed ratio must be golden. Low swings speeds require higher lofts, and higher swing speeds require lower lofts. They also require stiffer shafts to reign in the draw. The same principles used with fitting for a driver should be no different to how you fit an iron. Swing speed and shot shape only. And Bryson’s clubs are designed for super fast and high drawers of the ball only. His whole swing is built on trying to hit the fattest duck hooks possible, then reigning them in with super stiff shafts, the open convex face and baseball bat grips.
@@JoeFerguson-cd4bg It would be really cool to have those clubs custom fit for you...would love to see them optimize the flight throughout the set, which would include adjusting the loft to match your ideal ball flight.
They look so small from heel to toe. I tried the jumbomax grips a few years ago, very expensive and didn't really get on with them. @@John_Wood_No, quite the opposite. Incredibly heavy and stiff to move. Weirdly the swing weight (or balance) is very low because there is so much weight up the grip end. @@JoeFerguson-cd4bg That makes sense and I do think many stronger and better players could benefit from (slightly) heavier clubs (total weight, not swing weight as you noted). I just wonder with the additional speed and me being a pretty high dynamic loft player, whether I am just sliding underneath the lob wedge like someone pulling the dinner cloth from under the plates if you know what I mean?!
As stated the clubs are all intended to be the same exact weight for all the components. 2 things not talked about often are that a lob wedge has a taller face and therefore more cross sectional area, meaning more aero resistance when swung.
