How to create Contained Availability Groups part-1and what will happen if we failover

  • In this video we discussed about what is Contained Availability group and how to create it. In this demo I made use of cluster less and domain less setup so you will get to know how to create the Availability groups on them as well. Of course there will be 2 databases that gets created one is AGNAME_MASTER & the other AGNAME_MSDB. you will get to know the differences between the objects that appears when connecting to server Name & Listener Name. Finally upon Failover you will see the Linked Servers, jobs, alerts and other dependencies at instance level how it gets failed over Automatically.

    Hello Vamsy, have you realized that BUILTIN\Administrators group is added to sysadmin by default on the listener which is a big security issue?

      Those are demo servers so few things are considered as taking for granted. But not on prod systems though as it allows windows Admin to step in.
