    Can you make a video on crocheting socks for beginners please? I like the way you explain and illustrate the stitches as it's easy to follow and there aren't many sock tutorials which are easy to follow.

    Subscribers, if you know how to rib stitch, it will help to start with a rib stitch at top and you can either DC or HDC. The ribbing at top of the leg warmer gives it a stretchy outcome. When you DC or HDC to every 4th row. For every 4th row that you DC or HDC, work 4 DC or HDC, then increase one. Keep repeating this pattern, crochet 3 rows and on the 4th row increase one, the patterns is 1,1,1,1, decrease 2 together. Again, crochet 3 and on the 4th row decrease, crochet 4, then decrease one together. Then at the bottom of the ankle, do another ribbing stitch. It's really up to you, the ribbing stitch gives-it that stretch for leg warmers. You can go to tutorial videos on the ribbing stitch. Happy crocheting to you!

    Thank you so much Brittany for sharing your creativity and talent with us!
    I like to dabble in a lot of creative stuff and kind people like you make this very easy for me. Can't imagine how else would I've learned these things. I did learn a bit of crochet as a kid in school, but had forgotten almost all of it. I am grateful that there are nice people freely sharing their knowledge and I've access to it. This is gonna be my next art project, preparing for winter since I tend to get really cold :D and also because crocheting seems like something that'd be relaxing to do.
    The quality of your video and your style of teaching are impeccable. I followed almost all of it and would figure out the rest as I go along. Also visited your site and the little disclaimer was heartening :)
    I'd also like to add an elastic at the top of the warmers once they're done. Any tips for that?
    All the very best to you! Much love

    What yarn did you use for the thumbnail and photos for this video? I love the colors and it seems like the rows flow really nicely. Also, unrelated to this project - I just had a question about wrist/hand problems. I've been getting back into crochet pretty heavily after taking a long break after I learned and it seems like my left hand (working end) is not adapting well. I have some pain and weakness in my hand and wrist. Do you know know if compression/arthritis gloves will help with that? I think I may be straining my hand due to the way I'm holding my working yarn. Any advice? Thank you.

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  9 років тому

      Hi Kel! I used the colorway called 'desert spring' for the thumbnail and photos on the website. It is my favorite colorway out of all of them! As far as your wrist troubles go, I can completely relate, although it was my hook wrist that troubled me. I switched over to Clover Amour hooks and that mostly solved the problem. I've also found that my "stamina" for long hours of crocheting increased over time. I've never used the compression wraps, so if any one else reading this can chime in, that would be great. I would probably give them a try. It couldn't hurt right?

      If you're already familiar with crocheting, make a rectangle that is the length of what you want the eventual circumference of the hat to be, and the height the same height that the hat will be (sitting about an inch or so taller than your head). Fold it in half lengthwise and sew up the side and top of the hat to make a squarish shape. When placed on the head the top corners of the square will make the ears. I know it's some time after you posted your comment but I hope it helps! :)

    Great job i will be trying different pattern's. However i am a lefty and there are no videos for leg warmers for lefties. My question to you is what material are you using? Also you are making your chain to fit an adults calf how many inches does yours work out to be.

    • @kittybitty3099
      @kittybitty3099 6 років тому +1

      Amanda Vollick she tells you right at the beginning of the video what material she's working with, and also ANY crochet pattern can be done left handed you simply follow the pattern, that's all you do. There's literally no special changes in any pattern for left handed people because there literally doesn't need to be. You simply hold your hook in your left hand and follow the damned pattern you're reading or follow the instructions on the videos you crochet along to. I have no idea why on earth you think that being left handed is going to make a difference when it comes to crochet patterns, and why you think that there is such a thing as left handed patterns because they're all the same pattern.

      Amanda Vollick like I said all you have to do is hold the hook if your left hand and follow the pattern you're reading or crocheting along to. Just for the hell of it I just looked up a "left handed" pattern for a basic granny square that I have memorized and crochet without looking at the pattern, and guess what? The pattern is literally the same exact damned pattern I've got memorized, and the only difference is that the person in the video is crocheting with their left hand.

    • @kittybitty3099
      @kittybitty3099 6 років тому

      Amanda Vollick so seriously there is NO SUCH THING AS A LEFT HANDED CROCHET PATTERN, the people can claim their pattern is modified for left handed people but it is absolutely not modified in any way at all what so ever the damned person is just crocheting with their left hand. So if you want to crochet leg warmers pick out one of the numerous leg warmer crochet along videos on here, and start crocheting. Because it LITERALLY won't matter if your crochet with your left or right hand, it will be the same pattern and come out the same exact way it's shown in the video regardless if you're left handed or right handed.

      Amanda Vollick I'm honestly now curious how many patterns you haven't bothered doing because you think that they're for right handed people only. I can imagine that you've literally passed up doing hundreds of crochet patterns just because you're left handed and think that the pattern is for right handed people only.... Like I said I looked up videos of patterns I have memorized, and the unloaders are claiming they're left handed crochet patterns, but they're the same exact patterns I know by heart and the only difference is that the people are doing them with their left hands. Stop passing up crocheting patterns that you think you cannot do because you're left handed and you think the pattern is for right handed people only, because they're not and you CAN crochet them. Again you simply need to follow the pattern as instructed using your left hand. 😂😂😂😂😂

    Coming from the bottom of your leg to your calf an increase would just be two double crochet's in the last stitch of each round?

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  9 років тому

      That would work for a slight increase. Depending on how drastic of a change you need, you may want to add more. You could add an extra stitch in the first stitch and the last stitch for an increase that's somewhere in between :)

      Are you adding a stitch somewhere? When you start a new round make sure you don't DC in the same stitch as your ch 3 because that will cause you to get an extra unneeded stitch and therefore cause a wider round.

      +Angelique Ceccanese Your stitches just go more loose. I use to do this when I was learning or I got tighter which is just as bad.

    I have skinny ankles but fairly thick calves. If I were to start this from the ankle and add stitches as I went along, how would you suggest I add the stitches in to make it wider at one end?

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  9 років тому

      I'd say the best place to add the stitches would be near the join. I would probably make 2 Dc in the first stitch and 2 in the last stitch for the rounds you need to increase. If you need more than that, I'd add an additional dc on the front (complete opposite of the join). You'll probably need to play it by ear a little and try it on as you go :)

    You had mentioned 2 skeins, how many yards all together did it take to make your pair of leg warmers?

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  3 роки тому

      Yep I used just about two full skeins, around 290 yards for the pair.

    Do you have a video on how to do baby's leg warmer

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  9 років тому +1

      I don't have one yet but I plan on making one next spring! Until then, you could easily modify this pattern to fit a baby, especially if you have the baby there to size it. Depending on the baby's age, you'll probably only need 16 chains or so starting out and will probably only need to crochet 12 or 14 rows.

      These leg warmers for comfortably around a calf that measures approximately 14" in circumference at (at the widest point).
