    I ordered three of the 12-foot beds and eight of the 8-foot beds. The 12 foot beds are great since they included the cross-braces, tying the sides together. However, the 8-foot beds are terrible! They looked fine when I first filled them up, but as the soil began settling over the next few weeks, they beds began bulging outwards along the center seam and mushrooming outwards along the bottom middle section.
    I contacted the company and they sent out cross-braces to be installed. That was a lot of extra work, since the beds were already full of soil. I had to dig out along the middle and each side to get those installed. Now, with the bracing installed, the beds are pulled inward along the middle, giving it an hour-glass shape. Not sure if the braces they sent were too short or this was due to the soil already in place along the outer, curved areas. In any case, they look terrible...and they haven't even been planted for the first season yet!
    I would definitely avoid the 8-foot beds!

      THANK YOU soooo much for watching the video & sharing your experience with the 8 foot beds like this!😳 Bulging can be a concern with many metal raised garden beds. 🪴 There have been NO BULGING ISSUES with the #Amazon #RaisedGardenBeds featured in this video. Part of the reason may be that a modified hugelkultur method was used in the bottom third of the bed, so it wasn’t filled completely with soil. They are doing great!👍 So sorry that you have to empty, correct, and refill your beds…UGH! Again, thank you for sharing your experience 👩‍🌾

    The design of their beds need to be like vego garden beds. 4 corner panels, 4 long panels and 4 short panels. The shorter panels are always best behind each corner panel and behind the long panels on left and right sides both. Best to use nuts and bolts with washers. The bed you used the company needs to redesign their product. Love their thicker metal and shiney paint with corners that do not cut your fingers. Maybe they will improve their panel design and use nuts but not wingnuts.

      Thank you for watching the video and commenting! 😊 When Anleolife gives me a call, I’ll be sure to tell them about the modifications you suggested. At the time of ordering, these were the best #raisedgardenbeds available from #Amazon for the size I needed. They have done EXTREMELY well for me with no bulges. Vego beds can be pricey, so some of us on a budget enjoy the Anleolife beds. What is your favorite plant to grow in your beds? 👩‍🌾

      @@GrowingwithGlenna Yes the price is much lower and I like 2 feet tall beds. In my wooden bed I had for ten years I grew flowers like petunias, celosia, pansies and even spearmint. In these metal beds I am growing some catnip. Banana peppers, bell peppers. Onions, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. Hopefully more and I have peppermint growing in a felt cloth bed. I think I will put it in a metal bed before winter.

      Thank you! When you have soil that is not yet conducive to growing healthy plants 🌱 a #raisedbedgarden is a GREAT option! What type do you use?

    Nice vid. I'm planning on getting 8 of these but am concerned about support for the middle. Have you noticed any bowing out of the beds?

      I have not noticed any bowing of the sides since their installation. This could be because we used a modified hugelkultur in the bottom third of each one. What type of soil/compost mix will you be using? 👩‍🌾

      @@GrowingwithGlenna I'll use wood chips from an arborist I know for the bottom layer and then fill the top 1/2 to 2/3 with mix of topsoil, perlite, manure, sand, and 10-10-10

      @@lv603 Sounds like it will work. We had a couple of pieces of rebar ready to support the side if it was needed. Good luck!

    Would this be good for making compost ?

    • @GrowingwithGlenna
      @GrowingwithGlenna  Місяць тому +1

      YES, this #raisedgardenbed from #Amazon would work great for a composting container! Make a compost lasagna by layering “GREEN” materials like grass clippings, fresh garden waste, and kitchen scraps with “BROWN” materials such as dried leaves, straw, and shredded newspaper. This balance ensures proper decomposition. Mix up a couple of times a week with a garden fork to keep an even distribution of microorganisms munching away and to distribute moisture. Keep layering and stirring and practicing patience. It could take anywhere from weeks to months for your composting black gold to develop depending on temperature, moisture, and types of materials used. Good luck! #happygardening
