Hi! Im a player from the Gondor faction in server 28 and i'll try to give a little more indepth input that may have been missed. There are T4 units that are much better than what you may expect given certain compositions and commanders. I'll speak in behalf of the T4 units found in the non-special servers since that's the experience I have. Snaga Thrak: it is not to be underestimated, I have found it to be close if not the best lategame T4 out of the 6 original factions. They are a unit that by definition needs others within the composition to be effective to get the 100% extra damage boost, but they dont suffer from huge losses because isengard's best compositions are all melee units with strong damage resistances. They have an average damage similar with marchwardens (31 + 100% from ability) without the weakness of units specifically countering them (snipers, dunedain). Then there's a hidden combo that just makes them monstrous, which is their combo with Oathbreakers. Oathbreakers allow them to get the damage modifier without receiving any single damage from the unit! Given how good factions have barely any nonphysical damage, you can see how hard it would be to deal with this. Ravager: Have you heard the complains about mumakils being too strong? How about you get a more affordable and faster conscripting version of it? That's basically what ravager does, however it's true that they do not perform too great, their inconsistency on attacking multiple targets and their common use as mordor's meatshield compositions make them far too very predictable. This means that since most players use trolls, and they are indeed countered by Master throwers and Bow knights you get easily beaten when all you face are counter units. If you're capable of protecting them or mixing up your factions compositions to become less predictable, the effectiveness will increase. Marshal: To me, the best T4 unit in lategame, and by lategame i mean, after massing sufficient respect on cavalry commanders and items upgrading unit or commander speed. The damage modifier from the unit ability is in fact from its speed, however it can be even greater than what the tool tip explains, since its ONLY an estimate! If you use them with a cavalry commander, its damage will increase exponentially. The cavalry commanders have GREAT commander speed that increases this unit's ability damage modifier and increases the commander's Rohirrim damage modifier. With marshals you'll start to understand why Theoden in respect 5 is valued as an S tier commander. Swan Knight: Possibly the best free to play unit in a faction, as it rewards thoughtful thinking and activity to counter compositions. It doesn't need any specific commander or items for it to be effective, from the moment you unlock it after upgrading its 2 abilities to a respectable threshold your good to go. The versatility that this unit provides is the dream of any strategy nerd, you need to counter a heavy ranged faction like the elves? Take dunedain and swans to protect them. You want to sweep armies? Use a commander with cavaliers and protect them with swans. You want strong dps without worrying that it reduces in the later stages of a fight? Use sentinels with swans protecting them. Gondor doesn't excel with a damage unit, but it does excel at minimizing losses and protecting the more feeble units. Downside is that you need to have a 24/7 conscription of swan knights to recuperate losses, since it's your meatshield. Marchwarden: An amazing unit, and complements the elves with their fast expansion due to the 5% extra experience by taking tiles with few or even no losses. This is because they are a fast unit that deals amazing damage and sweeps before their armies get touched! And the great thing is that they dont really need any upgrade of their abilities to perform well in PVE, the moment you unlock them they are tile taking machines. Their downside is that is that they are easy target in PVP, so make sure you get a commander that can protect your ranged units or you'll be easily countered. Since they rely on dwarves to protect them or even Ents, they suffer from the penalty of .... very slow armies, with slow reinforcements. Iron warrior: On paper? The best unit. Their overall stats of damage output and tankiness is unmatched, outperforming any T4 unit if you fight them 1 on 1. Their power is specially evident if you pair them with Ram riders reducing enemy armor by 50% and increasing their damage potential much more, however why isn't it the best performing? That's because even though you'll most likely win the first battle, your capacity to reinforce weakened armies is extremely limited by the slow moving speed of dwarves. However in short skirmishes they are uncontested, specially with their nasty siege damage, you can be swept if you decide not to log in one day.
Gothmog (3rd respect) would be the only commander to pair well with snaga thrak. As his third title "The Crippled" gives all allied units a 60 % chance to do maximum damage with a sub skill that recovers two allies HP every round. But that feels so constricting.
You can match ravagers with mountain trolls who has for first 3 rounds 90% chance to draw all damage to them, this way ravagers will not be touched for 3 rounds
Chisgule, Placing two faction of ravagers as frontline offense in front of a unit of orc arbalest, is brutal. Ravagers has 50% chance to hit all units, arbalest has 75% chance to hit all units. So HIGH damage output to the entire opposition. Love your videos, thanks for the help in the game!
arbalest has 75% chance (90% tomorrow) to attack 2 times the same target, not all enemies :D and is due to their low base attack, so nothing broken here
As mordor myself, I did use Ravagers against dwarfs axe throwers and it did not do bad fights. due to Ravager being the tank in this case stacked with snipers resulting axe throwers dieing fast to snipers. The biggest problems of ravagers was not that they are weak. but they are slow and hard to recruit. I unfortunately dont have respect 5 Gothmog etc. that could make Ravages so good that the weakness of them would be less meaningfull.
You gotta counter what counters you so basically if axe throwers or elf horse archers counters your Ravager, you need to use Raiders (mordor wargs) for countering horse archers cuz they hit mounted units more dmg, if you want to counter axe throwers use Reaper (prioritize low defence enemies) or Sniper (Uruk Archer).
seriously sniper isnt couter enemy archer. their dmg is too low even in full upgrade they do less dmg than teir 3 elf archer. all good they has is auto lock enemy archer + a strange armor that reduce melee but no use agianst range atk somehow.
Noldor longshots and marchwardens keen eye skill is not to underestimate, especially with marchwardens who attack every turn. Because of keen eye, they can hit oathbreakers every turn since they are not immune to physical damage, they avoid it. Only good side units who are effective against oathbreakers 💪
Hello,im a Lindon player and we are dominating. There is no way to make them use normal attacks. They only use their skills at some rounds and other than that they will do nothing. They are still really strong i would say, dont get discouraged!
I agree with pretty much al you said (and great and informative video as always keep up the amazing job), though in my opinion you undervalued quite a lot the Ravengers (mordor T4, in my opinion they are arguably the best T4 if not at least top 3) it is true that they have a few counters (Master axe throwers, bow knights and others) but with the high HP and damage they have it's not really a big problem (most important the 50% change of attacking all enemy units), besides the fact that you have several counters for those units as well. Last but not least I was pretty disappointed with Noldor Logshot at the beginning but honestly after having maxed their abilities and paired them with some good commanders and units they output a tremendous amount of damage, so I still would't say they are top tier (Marshals and Ravengers rule in my opinion) but they are really solid.
Duneadain counter noldor so easily. I’m playing loth and find my marchwarden are much better as they tank the hits better and so more remain after their counters hit him. I’ll lose 500 wardens to their 1000+ longshots
Don’t the snags thrak increase the attack of their ally unit they hit? I think they are supposed to be whipping their own teammates. If so, you would use a low number of this unit to buff another unit.
As an ex Gondor player I cannot recommend Swan Knights. Their role is to eat damage on behalf of other units, the result of this is that they simply die too much to be sustainable, they have to be replaced constantly.
Hello there, its really good to have atleast 1 good youtuber playing this game so we can get tips and stuff. Although i'm here to ask you a question. I was opening some Legend chests for the event and i got a Full Hero named "Dain Ironfoot". I cant seem to find anyone on youtube using this hero, you all have Dwalin. Is it because Dain is hard to unlock and i was lucky or he is just not good and Dwalin is better? If you could either make a video about how to prioratise his skills set (if he is good and worth using instead of dwalin) and if not, just answer me here please. Thank you very much! FYI im playing for 1 week, im not as strong and as familiar with the game as you are, i just took my first 200 tile. Anyways, thanks man, keep it up!
Legolas even better. If you build him right he can do 200k commander damage and have safe T4 Noldor on top of it. Defenitely the best commander for Lindon
Yeah expensive, but just conquer better tiles and use market. About the time of conscripting, now with tier 6 building plus ring skill, 2500 in 15 hours. I am 24/7 producing them...
@@FutherDream you can do that i was doing that but cant keep up if you have war for a weak against 2 faction attackiing at the same time the problem mostly is time rather than resources :(
I play Gondor and the only great way I can see to use swan knight is them together with haldir + 2 archer units of your choise. They are too expensive otherwise but they help to keep the archers surviving the initial clash and protect them from some archer counter like dunedain or faramir.
Can someone explain how the defence stat works on an example please? If unit has 100 attack and 100 health and 100 damage and attack another unit with same start how much will it take? 0? Does defence works as flat percentage damage reduction from physical per defence or is it like amor in most games with diminishing returns? Thank you!
If I get it right defence adds on hp so if something has 40 hp and 70 defence it has 110 hp. Overall poison and fire damage ignore defence so they are good against Erebore troops which often have much defence.
Ravagers have some pros and cons for sure, but they work pretty well if you use them correctly. For one thing, pairing them with snipers helps clear out the good faction troops that deal extra damage to large units pretty quickly. Additionally, khamul and maybe other commanders have abilities that guarantee minimum damage for opposing troops which essentially shuts down axe throwers, not so much the bow knights. The attack all enemy troops skill actually gives them a ton of damage since most players run 3 troop types at a time, but it's pretty common for pve to only have 1/2 unit types and their damage suffers tremendously when that happens. They are extremely slow which sucks a lot they always attack last except ents I believe and take forever to march. Also they are extremely costly to produce especially in grain which is hard for Mordor players to get. In summary they're really tanky especially when paired with snipers/focus commanders that reduce damage, but if the opponent isn't using 3 unit types their damage isn't worth the cost and slow speed.
Are new servers starting again for season 1 and if so, where can I see when they start? And a big thank you for your awesome videos, cause of you I was constantly in the top 20 in my server
I've tried using ravagers but they get destroyed by good units. I personally think that mountain trolls are better than ravagers; ravagers cost twice as many resources and take longer to train for a small increase in stats, they're less cost effective. And in terms of being tanks the mountain trolls are better. The ravagers lose the ability to taunt for 3 turns and exchange it for a chance to attack all enemies (it's not even guaranteed, it's a 50% chance and is completely useless if the enemy uses one or two troops). Also trolls don't do the most damage from the evil units, their job is to defend the glass cannons we have and ravagers fail miserably at that.
Use marchals with haldir and they get in the first 2 rounds another plus 40% damage boost plus stun imunity... That is like 120% damage first round and plus 90% second round... Use them with gandalf and they will avoid damage in the first round and have a 70% chance to atack twice in the first 2 rounds.... These are usualy very fast battles xD
The Longshots are kind of useless... Their ability does not count as a attack so no commander can't really buff them (like the double attack of Gandalf or so) and if the enemy has just 1 unit like full mumaks or OBs or so, they can't attack 2 times the same target so they loose 1 of their 150% attacks... That way they are even weaker then t3 bows. I don't really like them, I think it would be much better if their special ability would get replaced by a 50% chance of a second attack each round, it would do the same like now but would make them much easier to buff with comms
I know you don't play evil but what ever you heard is wrong about ravager, it's a great tanky and damage dealer, paired up with right units the fact that good side archers do 50% damage doesn't matter. they are reliable against archers, you just need reapers and alchemists next to it people tend to consider evil units weaker, which is true early game, but late game they are better than good side, you just have to use your brain
@@rafaeldeoliveiranobre6064 unfortunately they do not. I have Gil galad respect 5. It seems that the only attack they can do is Volley which must be classified as a special attack. Thus the error message saying, “unable to perform normal attacks”
Finally someone people actually pay attention to calls out Snaga thrak. Its by far the worst t4 troop. Biggest downside by far because if your other troops get killed then they are essentially useless. They need a buff to their base dmg to be useful, their 66 is fine but the 6 is insanely low.
yeah, as a mordor player, ravager is trash... not only there is too many units that counter it pretty hard, 50% chance to hit all enemies is too low, if you are unlucky (which i am), you may only trigger it 2 or 3 time each fight, it's best to use the tier 3 trolls, at least they can become meat shields for the other units like reapers.
You forgot troop resource costs and conscript time those play a big part in how good some units are. Gondor t4 are god aweful. Oathbreaker Swan knight is the only good combo

@@rafaeldeoliveiranobre6064 unfortunately they do not. I have Gil galad respect 5. It seems that the only attack they can do is Volley which must be classified as a special attack. Thus the error message saying, “unable to perform normal attacks”
@@penya6255 oh thats unfortunate, at least I know now that I’ll be going to lothlorien, s2 I was thinking on moving to Lindon
@@penya6255 I got Gil Galad but only resp 1, what a pain it is to get T3 respect level upz
Finally someone people actually pay attention to calls out Snaga thrak. Its by far the worst t4 troop. Biggest downside by far because if your other troops get killed then they are essentially useless. They need a buff to their base dmg to be useful, their 66 is fine but the 6 is insanely low.
they are broken with gothmog tho. U can easily good 20k+ dmg in one attack with snaga plus alchemist on gothmog
other combs are also pretty strong. But u cant use them well woth every comb thats true
@@thomasfeinschliff1983 any other commanders they good with?
yeah, as a mordor player, ravager is trash... not only there is too many units that counter it pretty hard, 50% chance to hit all enemies is too low, if you are unlucky (which i am), you may only trigger it 2 or 3 time each fight, it's best to use the tier 3 trolls, at least they can become meat shields for the other units like reapers.
Marshals #1 marchwardens #2 swan knights/fallen #3
The fallen on a 300 land with 4,500 troops are horrible to fight
The only one I wanted to know...you don't have yet... T_T
I live isenguard. It's my favourite faction. However the elite unit snaga thrak is dog shit bad. I put berserker over those units any day
I am a player from Rhun and most of us in faction don't use War Chariot. Not worth
War chariot stronger unit t4 evil? No one in my server from rhun use them, 🤣🤣🤣
Agree, they are actually the worst unit.
I used them for 3 battles and them sent they die to have more place for others units 🤣
Which evil T4 you recommend ?
You forgot troop resource costs and conscript time those play a big part in how good some units are. Gondor t4 are god aweful. Oathbreaker Swan knight is the only good combo
And it’s still a bad combo if you want your knights to live
stick ravagers with T3 trolls and reapers
It really cant be fun to play the game when you have 4 of the top 5 fellowship, its just boring at that point
Ravagers are underwhelming
