In this video, Thomas explains the main differences between Champagne and Cava. The first Champagne production was dated in 1697 and was created by the monk Dom Perignon. On the other hand, Cava was created by Josep Raventos, who brought classic methods from France. The main grape varieties of Champagne are Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. There are also Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Petit Meslier, and Arbane. The main grapes used in Cava production are Macabeo, Xarello, and Parellada. There are also Malvasia, Chardonnay, Garnacha Tinta, Monastrell, and Trepat.
The sweetness levels of Champagne & Cava:
    Brut Nature 0-3g/L sugar
    Extra Brut 0-6g/L sugar
    Brut 0-12g/L sugar
Extra Dry 12-17g/L sugar (Extra Seco in Cava)
    Sec 17-32g/sugar (Seco in Cava)
Demi-Sec 32-50g/L sugar (Semi Seco in Cava)
Doux 50+g/L sugar (Dulce in Cava)

Thanks for the explaination! I'm having some Cava by myself right now, and was wondering if real Champagne actually is worth the money - or if it's not THAT much of a difference?
Sorry for my bad english! I'm from Sweden (and a little bit drunk at the moment 😅)

Hi Aerox. Thank you for watching my video and your comment. There are many amazing Cava available on the market, and I hope that you are enjoying your. Champagnes are slightly overpriced; that's for sure, but for example, Drappier Carte d'Or is a fantastic value for money one.

It was in 1697. Unfortunate verbal slip

@angyliv8040 No worries. A couple of years ago, I discovered wines from the Corpinnat association also produced in Penedes like Cava. I also recommend trying Raventos I Blanc from Conca de Riu Anoia (subregion of Penedes).
      Cheers

Thank you for this explanation and pronunciations but your accent was difficult to understand your English.

Hi Adrienne. Huge thanks for witching. I am Polish, but I've been living in Ireland for the last 9 years. I didn't know that my English's accent was difficult to understand. Maybe I should try to speak slower...
      Cheers

@Aerox ⁣ My accent is half Polish half Irish, so sometimes it may be difficult to understand 😅 skäl!
