I think for winter weather you should use the simple " paper " filter . Rather than the charcoal one as I think this one restricts air more . While the paper filter would allow air to more freely pass through to defrost windshield much quicker .
just found out that cabin air filters have to be mounted in a specific direction of flow. Didn't know about this and just did mine (what was a complete pain in the a*se), so the chances I installed it backwards are 50/50. Do I really need to check it or it can wait until next replacement? reaching the filter is very cumbersome in my car, I have to take the glove box, air ducts and blower out of the way, what takes me a solid hour to do.
I took my new Rav4 in for an oil change at the dealership and they mentioned the cabin filter. I said maybe next time. A few months later I thought Id just do it myself. I was shocked to find torn up attic insulation stuffed into the filter! I cant imagine how so much of it could have gotten in there unless someone manually put it in there. I was blown away. Is it possible to have that much junk caught in the filter by picking it up on a highway? Or is my dealer doing something shady?
Idk if anyone will respond but no one has ever told me about replacing air filt3r. Maybe once but it fell on deaf ears..... I have had my cars 8 years and Barely finding out where cabin airfilter is and is replacing it... but there are SOOOOI much fucking dried leaves how do I clean it out
Well if you want scientific explaintion.clean filter= perfect working a/c Dirty air filter=not working and youre not happy So when the cabin air filter is dirty the evap coil starts freezing up(ice build up) because the refrigerant is not spreading out due to lack of air flow (dirty air filter) so when that happens the refrigerant pressure drops to maybe 0-20psi on the cold side of the compressor at that point it cannot function at that psi level. It may even cause to trigger the low pressure switch to cut off power to the a/c system after couple of minutes of trying to get cold air
It's more important now due to COVID-19. I'm still trying to get my emoloyer to change the cabin filters regularly after 10-20k miles. Some of our fleet vehicle's are used more than others.
🤣 after Bill Gates made his multiple millions off of covid he compared covid to THE FLU with a relatively low mortality rate affecting the elderly primarily. His words not mine.
Got a price quote from my Chevy Dealership and decided to do it myself. eBay to the rescue. Took me ten minutes and $15.. good tip guys. Thanks
you looked so blazed!!! i love it!!! 5stars!
😂
Lol
Saved me $300. Thank you
I blow out the cab’ filter once every three months using a high pressure air line and replace it every 2 years. Works a treat.
If you park under trees often, change yours twice a year. A lot of leaves and crap in mine

wow, I just changed mine for the first time in 4 years, and it was so dusty

Mice are probably your culprit. It happens all the time.
Its from the cars carpet
Is your vehicle used for selling candy floss?
Mice are so common
If you install backwards, will it blow black dust into car?

You probably already fixed it but you’re better off just switching they’re 20$ only
lol no worries I just learned about it this year!!!
Amazing information
So if my fans working fine on all levels and hardly any air coming air from the vents that’s the cabin filter ?
Yes or the blower motor is worn

My windows been fogging when it rains and snows and its funny mechanics never tild me to check this 🤦🏽♂️
Will this cause a code to light on my dashboard?
No. The OBD2 system doesn't keep track of that.
My car smells so bad is this why? Going to get it changed shortly
Smell the valet. Go to the source!
Yeah it might be clogged filter. Because I feel it cool but no air no matter how much I turn it up. And getting some air through the control panel.
Good
Dealer wanted 75 for the cabin air filter alone 😂😂. 20 generic
The dealer, the service advisor and the technician want your money

All that for a little flu. 🤦♂️🤦♂️ Mass formation psychosis is real.

Their orchestrated crisises always screw we the people while benefiting the billionaires, and the politicians working for them every time.
Stop with the covid. NO AIR FILTER will help even if covid was a problem.
Air filter shmarefilter I got my exhaust pipe looping into my cabin like a bendy straw nothing smells better than burning diesel!!
