The great thing is you can tell Carl is genuinely surprised that the crowd is having a laugh and you can see his motivation and confidence grow within minutes. Carl's jokes are great observational humour and whilst not always the funniest of jokes, coming from him he pulls them off well and one can not help but love watching him. A great guy and great comedian.
It helps by looking like a older white Dave chappelle

It’s funny how Carl couldn’t believe he was funny when he first started out. It’s lucky for us that he kept going, otherwise he would have been a roof tiler.
Imagine how many roof tilers Australia loses out on potential comedians each year. Aussies are a humble bunch, but not without a wicked sense of humour.

It was good before they fucked it up. Once Matty left, the show died. Then they bought the women on, and then the idiot Beau Ryan... it was like a train wreck in slow motion

I like how this is over 20 years ago and he still looks the same.
Alot of people think carls jokes are too simple but its the way he delivers it that makes it so funny

Carl Barron’s jokes work well on the same crowd that love the footy show. He probably never had that many people in his audience that loved his material, but whoever spotted him and thought of putting him on the show was a genius because it was the perfect cross-section of the population that loves his jokes.
