I prefer natural light because studio lights can make the color look completely different. Glad you agree. It was blazing hot that day (I see sweat on my face) but I still think natural sunlight is the best for makeup reviews.
I thought so as well but from where I sit (I know colors don’t translate on video 100%) I thought she could get away with any of the three shades. Although chestnut did look the best to me. I’m super curious about this foundation. She looks like she’s not even wearing foundation. Her skin just looks flawless. But her skin looks great regardless. Like she could wear strategic concealer and look like she’s got foundation on. Ive found beautiful skin normally looks beautiful with most foundations. Anyways I’m srsly tempted but Spending more then $30 on a foundation makes me a bit nervous, but I hear many with dry skin rave about this formula. I might have to bite the bullet and purchase if I see a shade that’ll work for me.
I am trying Chai again today. It's more golden so it looks like I have on makeup, to me, but not to other people. I am going to play with Chestnut again tomorrow.
I have been on the website for a couple days trying to find my shade., I think Chai is my shade too. This is a very detailed review, I’m glad I came across it.
The Chai looks very natural on you. I tend to match the same shades as you. Glad you did a comparison because I was going to try the chestnut, which did not look bad on you, but Chai is it!!!!! Thanks for the demo 💕
The Chestnut matches you perfectly 💜 I had the same shade before and it was a bit off for me so I’m going to go in store to see which color would fit me best. Thinking Chai since I love the golden undertone from my color fx foundation
Say that sis!!👏🏾👏🏾 @1:13 ... rediculous but so true... Anyway, thanks fr giving a multiple shade review. That chai and chestnut disappeared but they all look good!
I might be an odd one out but I preferred Mahogany the most on you. Chestnut is good also....I would say you have 2 matches in this. I prefer Chai the least....a bit too golden on you.
I think they both look really good but idk I think the chestnut looked more like your color but if you do a full face with all you powders and stuff the chai would look really good too. But if you dont want to do all your powders and stuff and you just want your foundation and a little bit of a gloss or lip color chestnut would be the one. But overall you could really get way with both of them...
Lol...i went to read the comments and it's all over the place. But I had to remember, depending on what we watched this video on, the colors we see might be different. I thought you looked beautiful in every color. I preferred the chai. I thought it gave you a glow. I also liked chestnut but thought it looked flat beside the chai. Not comparing it to chai, I think chestnut was a beautiful color on you. You could easily get away with either color. I'm not sure why but the full face of mahogany appeared too dark but when it was on half of your face, it looked great. If it's any consolation, you're stunning and don't need any foundation. :-) thanks for the great review!
They both are very good colors, I'm thinking the chestnut it's so even all over and the chai is a beautiful color on you but it looks just little more golden compared to the chest area, remember in the first part of your video you couldn't and I'm sure most of the subscribers didn't even know that you were wearing foundation it look so natural, look at you video almost at the end at about 1502 and right there is where I think it chai is not the color. Thank you
Chai and chestnut are yo colors boo boo!!! Either of those would work for you! Do you do hair tutorials? I’m relaxed but my nieces (and future children 😂) are natural so I need all the help I can get
Thanks! No, I don't really do a lot of hair videos but Naptural85 is a good hair vlogger to watch. She has much thicker hair than mine so some of the styles look awful on my fine hair, but for the most part I can make them work.
I didn't know they had a new matter version. Unfortunately, no. I have dry skin so I do not wear matte foundation. I've been using Pat McGrath Skin Fetish most recently, very sheer though.
I can't wait to try this foundation. I followed your advice on the Fenty (thank you). The Chai really disappeared on your skin. I'm so excited now awaiting my order.
I'm so glad the Fenty worked out well for you! It's hard to pick a Fenty Shade online, and this Too Faced as well. I tried Dior Backstage today (they had an event in store so I let them match me). They matched me to Warm Peach. I would have never selected a color called Warm Peach but it does work. The two artist working on me tested 4 colors. I didn't get a sample but am still wearing it now, a few hours later. I want to see if the color changes.
Chai literally melted in your skin!! Perfect match!! Do u use under eye concealer?! I think a lil bit could help w/darkness, but u have beautiful skin.. TFS
No, unfortunately, Chai is too golden. I played with Chestnut a bit more and it's a better match. Yes, I use concealer. This was a shade match demo, not a makeup application.
that's so funny, i also follow color cues from the same ladies, but you're 1st on my list lol :) - my color is most similar to you and i'm also classic neutral undertone. Fab Jennie she's a bit more gold undertone, but some of her color reviews are shades I work with for my summer color. I take a cue to go one color up from reviews i see with C-Key and Jackie Aina, the colors they use are 1 shade deeper than I and both are gold undertone/ (some reddish) I appreciate very much your foundation reviews! Chestnut looks like your true color (on screen) but I think if for summer you like a gold glow even on arms and skin, then chai would be a good summer color
It's so funny that we use the same UA-cam references. I probably wouldn't buy a lot of products if it were not for reviews from these ladies. Fab Jennie, Jackie & C-Key seem to make any shades work with red foundation & yellow powder. They are professionals though while I'm more of a dab it on and go. lol Thanks for watching! Glad that you find my videos helpful. :-)
Chestnut works for you. You have neutral skin tone; chai is more golden and isn't bad if you used neutral concealer it will all blend well, that's the upside of having neutral skin tone.
Fly.Sistah ok great! Though you may prefer more golden undertones you see more neutral, but I’ve never seen you in person, so I wouldn’t know for sure.
Have you worn this all day yet? I wondered if it oxidized. I experienced oxidation however not until like the 6th hour. Chestnut looks fine but it also seems if you went heavier on the coverage, it would then be too light. I kind of like Chai the best.
Thanks for subbing and for watching! I swatched a few colors in the store and these 3 seems closest. I think Chestnut is the most natural too. Chai can also work.
I don't know they both look good the chai and chestnut. I'm usually the same shade as you. What do you think? Maybe get a sample of chestnut and compare with chai
At first glance Chestnut matched your face and neck the best. Chai was too golden on your face but disappeared on your chest so you could make it work. Mahogany washed you out way too dull.
Chestnut looks amazing on you. It looks like you’re wearing nothing and just have really good skin. Chai is very pretty also, but you look a bit more made up. Either way, you have beautiful features and a lovely personality. Wear the one that makes you feel best about YOU. ❤️💃🏿
I used Chestnut but this new chai shade has me confused I'm definitely super golden but my face got sunburned real bad in Grand Turks so it's 3 colors smh 🙎🏾♀️🤦🏿♀️🙎🏽♀️
I will probably test out new colors once I tan a bit for summer. I swatched spiced rum today and it's gorgeous. Not sure if I will ever be able to make that work though.
Back again with another comment I'm furious about the chai color with my body heat and already hydrated skin I wore it out side for 4 hours came back in looked like a pumpkin Chestnut is my shade 4 sure 😶
Fly.Sistah yes I'm sorry my self that's not for me Chestnut is the my go to shade my body reacts different than most hopefully someone will get a good use out of it smh 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Chestnut looked exactly like your skin (which is absolutely amazing), then I liked the Mahogany and then Chai. You can do anyone of them. But Chestnut was more natural and Mahogany looked more made up.
Thanks. Mahogany pulls a bit too red/orange in person. Today I mixed Chestnut and Chai. I've been playing with them solo but decided to test out mixing since I have a generous sample of Chestnut as well as a sample of Chestnut that came with my order.
It looks gray you are the fourth person video I reviewed and it came of not to good I will pass anyway Two Faced still don’t quite get it go back Jackie something just seems off not enough red but to much yellow
That was the point in the shade additions. It wasn’t to create shades for everyone but to create shades for WOC that have gold undertones and neutral undertones that right now are hard to find or don’t exist yet. Jackie strayed from the red undertones because majority of foundations for WOC have red undertones but not all WOC have red undertones like most makeup companies seem to think. The new shade are meant for people who’s shades are hard to find.
Linda Ann Oliver I slightly disagree because my undertone leans a pinch on the red side of neutral and Chestnut actually works for me pefectly. II get a lot darker as the summer goes on I can mix with a little Spiced Rum and that shade has a pretty red undertone.
Back again with another comment I'm furious about the chai color with my body heat and already hydrated skin I wore it out side for 4 hours came back in looked like a pumpkin Chestnut is my shade 4 sure 😶
I love how you do natural day light and inside light for foundation review. I wish more beauty gurus did this.
I prefer natural light because studio lights can make the color look completely different. Glad you agree. It was blazing hot that day (I see sweat on my face) but I still think natural sunlight is the best for makeup reviews.
Chestnut looks more skin like
Agreed, now that I played with Chestnut more, I think Chai is too golden for me.
Chestnut blends beautifully with your skin.
Thanks. I agree, it's a no makeup look.
Chestnut appears to be your shade. Especially since it blended right into your chest. If you put it on and you can't see it, it's the one.
Agreed. I tested out Chestnut and Chai again. Thanks for watching.
I thought so as well but from where I sit (I know colors don’t translate on video 100%) I thought she could get away with any of the three shades. Although chestnut did look the best to me. I am trying Chai again today. It's more golden so it looks like I have on makeup, to me, but not to other people. I am going to play with Chestnut again tomorrow.
WOW!!!! I would’ve sworn that you weren’t wearing any makeup when the video started........so natural 😍😊
The Chestnut color works the best for me. I was surprised.
I have been on the website for a couple days trying to find my shade., I think Chai is my shade too. This is a very detailed review, I’m glad I came across it.
Glad to help. Chai is too golden for me so I ended up with Chestnut.
The Chai looks very natural on you. I tend to match the same shades as you. Glad you did a comparison because I was going to try the chestnut, which did not look bad on you, but Chai is it!!!!! Thanks for the demo 💕
Glad you found it helpful. If it were not for Jackie helping them curate the new shades range, I would never have tried or purchased this foundation.
The chai is your perfect shade
Thanks for helping me decide on my shade
Definitely the Chai.💞
Thanks for watching.
Fly.Sistah 💞💞
I know I came here for the makeup reviews, but damn your curls are popping!
Thank you!
The Chestnut matches you perfectly 💜 I had the same shade before and it was a bit off for me so I’m going to go in store to see which color would fit me best. Thinking Chai since I love the golden undertone from my color fx foundation
Thanks. Yes, I wore Chestnut yesterday and today.
Chestnut should be your first option and Chi as a second option. Good review.
Thanks for watching.
Agreed. I think I can work with Chestnut (I have a sample now) and Mahogany. Chai is too golden.
Fly.Sistah 👌😊. Well congrats on having a great match in Mahogany and Chestnut. A lot of people have trouble just getting one match but you have 2.
It is really not a bad problem to have at all since it's so hard to find a shade match for women of color.
EC DC I definitely agree!
You have beautiful skin. Thanks for sharing!
That's exactly the look I tested out with Chestnut, and it works better for me than Chai.
If it's any consolation, you're stunning and don't need any foundation. :-) thanks for the great review!
That is so sweet. Thank you! I think it was the lighting with Mahogany. Chestnut is a neutral shade so I can see why it appears flat on camera.
Thank you
Teresa Bridges - I agree with you completely
I think you are right. I played with Chai again and got a sample of Chestnut. Chai is too golden.
Mahogany and Chestnut better Suits You Blends into your skin perfectly
Funny that you say that. I was testing Chestnut and Chai for a few weeks and finally settled on Chestnut today. I returned Chai. It's too golden.
Thanks so much. Your video was really helpful. I had chestnut but it seemed too light so I got chai and I’m much happier 👍🏾
I glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching.
Chestnut for sure. I didn't even realize you were wearing makeup at first. Chai is a little to golden
That is my thought as well, too golden.
because of your neutral undertone they all look nice on you, especially chestnut, which is basically your undertone.
Can you do a comparison of those colours with the new matte Born this Way as I believe the shades in the matte are different

Your skin is beautiful!
Marie Trotter Thank you!
chestnut is u baby
Yes, I agree.
Great video and shade Range references 👌🏾🌸👠
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching.

Thanks! I ended up buying Chestnut and returning Chai.
Chestnut works for you. You have neutral skin tone; chai is more golden and isn't bad if you used neutral concealer it will all blend well, that's the upside of having neutral skin tone.
I really can do both
Chestnut. Chai seems too yellow
I agree. I have a sample of Chestnut now and it works for me.
Fly.Sistah ok great! Though you may prefer more golden undertones you see more neutral, but I’ve never seen you in person, so I wouldn’t know for sure.
Every makeup artist always says I'm golden but most golden foundation shades pull orange on me by the time I get home.
Have you worn this all day yet? I wondered if it oxidized. I experienced oxidation however not until like the 6th hour. Chestnut looks fine but it also seems if you went heavier on the coverage, it would then be too light. I kind of like Chai the best.
I did. I experienced no color change after 9 hours of wear.
That is probably true, heavy coverage with Chestnut would be too light.
I like the chestnut
Me too. I tested out Chestnut and Chai again. Thanks for watching.
Chai looks good
Thanks for watching!
Your skin is beautiful! I like chestnut on you the best
Thank you!
Thank you! And thanks for watching.
New subscriber, the Chestnut is a perfect match but the Chai is good match
Thanks for subbing and for watching! I swatched a few colors in the store and these 3 seems closest. I think Chestnut is the most natural too. Chai can also work.
Chestnut! I think chai was a lil too golden and came off a little gray
Thanks. Yes, Chai is a bit too golden for me.
You are gorgeous! Thanks for video I will have to try
Thanks! I've been wearing it for a couple of weeks now and do enjoy the formula.
Mahogany looks like a good match to me.
Mahogany definitely works for me if I want a more tanned look.
Girl cjai is your color
I don't know they both look good the chai and chestnut. I'm usually the same shade as you. What do you think? Maybe get a sample of chestnut and compare with chai
lovely122797 I'm getting Chestnut tomorrow. I regret not getting a sample when I was in the store. Not a bad problem to have though.
Chestnut works. Chai is too golden for me.
I’m shade chestnut 🌰
I have a few shade twins. Thanks for watching.
Chai, beautiful!!
Thanks for watching.
I use light beige 🤨 wish I had a cool name like most other shades in this line
The names are pretty cool
I think chestnut looks natural. But you could wear Chai too. They both look good
I tested out Chestnut and Chai again. Both work for different occassions. Thanks for watching.
Chai is really pretty on you
Thank you.
At first glance Chestnut matched your face and neck the best. Chai was too golden on your face but disappeared on your chest so you could make it work. Mahogany washed you out way too dull.
I ended up keeping Chestnut and returning Chai.
Fly.Sistah Awesome!!!!
Chestnut looks amazing on you. It looks like you’re wearing nothing and just have really good skin. Chai is very pretty also, but you look a bit more made up. Either way, you have beautiful features and a lovely personality. Wear the one that makes you feel best about YOU.
❤️💃🏿
Thank you. I think Chestnut is the day to day no makeup look while Chai is the made up look. It's nice to have choices.
Chestnut for sure
Thanks for watching!
Good review , well presented.
Thanks for watching.
I used Chestnut but this new chai shade has me confused I'm definitely super golden but my face got sunburned real bad in Grand Turks so it's 3 colors smh 🙎🏾♀️🤦🏿♀️🙎🏽♀️
I tested out Chestnut and Chai again. Chestnut is a no makeup look for me while Chai is a more made up look. Thanks for watching.
Chestnut but chai for warmer months.
I will probably test out new colors once I tan a bit for summer. I swatched spiced rum today and it's gorgeous. Not sure if I will ever be able to make that work though.
chai chai chai... cha cha .... chai chai chai
Thanks.
Chai is the winner!
Thanks for checking out the video comparison.
Back again with another comment I'm furious about the chai color with my body heat and already hydrated skin I wore it out side for 4 hours came back in looked like a pumpkin Chestnut is my shade 4 sure 😶
OMG! I am so sorry that happened. I didn't notice any color change but did not have Chai on for more than an hour.
Yeah, that is what I think as well. Chestnut is an everyday look while Mahogany and Chai look made up.
All looks good, but; I would say Chestnut.
Yes I agree now that I have a sample of Chestnut.
I like the Chai
Thanks for watching!
Mahogany looks better to me when you went outside. After it dried down it disappeared
Thanks! I think Mahogany will work for me for summer after I get a bit more sun.
Chai is it
I think Chestnut, I played with it a bit more and prefer it over Chai.
You're gorgeous
That is so sweet. Thank you.
I think chai matches you perfectly.
joolsgoomunch thanks for watching
Chai all day😊
Thanks! It's really been a toss up between Chai and Chestnut with a few votes for Mahogany.
I think Chai is the perfect color for you.
Thanks for watching.
Chestnut
Agreed. I tested out Chestnut and Chai again. Thanks for watching.
Chestnut looks much better than chai or mahogany.
Thanks for watching!
Chestnut is better on u. U have a neutral undertone I think
Thanks. I pull golden in person.
Not Chai, it looked way too golden for you. And not Mahogany either because it was a bit dark for you. You should definitely go with Chestnut.
Thanks. I am trying Chestnut again tomorrow. Today I am wearing Chai.
chai
Thanks for watching.
Mahogany looked best in my opinion. Chestnut 2nd. Didn’t care for chai on you
Thanks. Mahogany pulls a bit too red/orange in person. Today I mixed Chestnut and Chai. I've been playing with them solo but decided to test out mixing since I have a generous sample of Chestnut as well as a sample of Chestnut that came with my order.
Chi
It looks gray you are the fourth person video I reviewed and it came of not to good I will pass anyway Two Faced still don’t quite get it go back Jackie something just seems off not enough red but to much yellow
No, I don't agree with that. Chestnut works for me and Mahogany. Chai is too golden for me but it works for a lot of people.
That was the point in the shade additions. It wasn’t to create shades for everyone but to create shades for WOC that have gold undertones and neutral undertones that right now are hard to find or don’t exist yet. Linda Ann Oliver oh and Maple leans ever so slightly on the red side of neutral also but it's a little too light for me.
Spiced Rum is beautiful. I tried it out in the store although it won't work for me right now.
Back again with another comment I'm furious about the chai color with my body heat and already hydrated skin I wore it out side for 4 hours came back in looked like a pumpkin Chestnut is my shade 4 sure 😶
Chestnut
Thanks. Chestnut seems like the no make up look choice.
Chestnut
Thanks! Yes, I've been wearing Chestnut for a few weeks now. I returned the Chai.
Chestnut
