How did I miss this match up? an Autoplay surprise Xmas treat in the form of the Hard Boiled (but Werther-y) Butterscotch Candy Casuals of Fireteam Kappa versus the Rending Raspberry Sours of Hivefleet Haribo-oooh.. sweet, sweet work as always, you sexy ****!
I’m an old man, a very old man, positively antediluvian. But I’ll tell you this - if my childhood (early 1980’s) Saturday afternoons was just this stuff for four hours on BBC1, I would have been a happy little lad. It’s got a very sportslike presentation. Great stuff!
10:05 Saving against a critical hit that also does mortal wounds does not stop the MW damage, as that happens as soon as the hit is 'retained'. Elsewise, they might as well have just increased that weapons crit damage amount instead of giving it a special rule. gg.
Good video! Just a reminder though that bolster discipline says you can only shoot twice if you don’t fight that activation. In turning point 3 a bid shouldn’t have died.
Cheers man will do. I had a bit where I highlight the terrain and say what it is as most of the walls are heavy and vantage only removes cover granted by light terrain, also i only count second floors as being vantage points if there is no roof, otherwise they're just heavy with windows.
Great report! Please keep them coming. At 10:05 you mentioned that the crit save blocked the Mortal Wounds. I don't believe that is the case. I think that Mortals are applied before blocks.
For people who are interested, here are the relevant rules: The special weapon crit rule: "MWx: Mortal wounds. Each time a friendly operative makes a shooting attack with this weapon, in the roll attack dice step of that shooting attack, for each critical hit retained, inflict x mortal wounds on the target, x is the number after the weapon’s MW, e.g. MW3." Note how it says "in the roll attack dice step" meaning this happens even before defense dice get rolled, much less before they negate attack dice, or those attack dice are used to do damage. Also the Mortal Wounds rules: "Some rules inflict mortal wounds. Mortal wounds are a powerful source of damage such that rolling defense dice will not help the operative defend against them."
Murkglow covers it well here like but you are correct, i got hung up in the editing and thought i was doing it wrong (turns out I wasn't) anyway i focued on the 'retained' dice and overlooked the fact that it was retainined dice in the Roll attack dice step so yeah they get applied pre defence dice roll.
Cheers bud, Im a fan of the tac marine but if I was ever playing properly i still think theres no reason to look outside deathwatch at the moment, which is a shame. Can't imagine what a spacemarine kill team will look like when they get their update.
@@GFNGaming Yeah, I have to agree with you. I’m hoping we get rules for a primaris team and a first born team that both do different things. Maybe more damage output from firstborn but more ploys for primaris? 🤷♂️
Cracking fun as always! I also like that I'm spotting rules issues (not to harp on about them) but it shows my knowledge of rules is getting tighter too, and you calling some out yourself helps reinforce! Also from having played against 10x genestealers with double rending claws on a number of occasions I can confirm they're extremely scary.
It's a new game and even though the rules are lighter than 40k I think playing is the best way to bring to light the nuances of gameplay and then clarify them. Great batrep!
Thanks man. I think command Re-Roll is the exception. Pg 58 'other than command re-roll... each player can use each tac ploy no more than once per turning point...'
Thanks buddy, Aye i know nightmare for mum, plus she had guests the next morning would've really tied the room together but alas her social standing in the community dropped a few bars. Its like these Imperial fists don't know the damage they're doing.
Quality work as always 👍, would love to see some combat focused Warriors in the next one. The only negative is Val not getting those flowers......the humanity!
That makes sense, big fan of the stealers still - although i've heard running warriors with hormagants is also pretty good. Got some but not painted up yet *Edit - i'm guessing you meant Scything talons rather than rending as its 6/7 damage crti with feed.
I'm so glad to have discovered your channel! Fantastic production and explanation to tactics and strategies. I do however have a question; I've noticed you are not parrying during fight situations. Is there a reason? I'm very new to this version of Kill Team and was wondering Edit; never mind, I just commented before watching the entire video. 😅
That sergeant really did feel like a sergeant, got taken down to 1 wound, knew he wouldn't survive the skirmish so ploughed through the right flank clearing out the bugs 1 after another, finally being taken down by fleshborer fire, or succumbing to the cumulative damage he had sustained
@@GFNGaming so stealer went first, parried the marine first crit attack, Then stealer again right? Parries the marine 2nd attack, Parry, Parry, Etc, I'm failing to see where the gap is that the marine gets an attack in without being parried if the stealer goes first?
@@RoguePlank so the activations alternate. Genestealer gets to pick first because he charged so can choose to resolve one of his retained dice and parries, then the space marine gets to resolve one of his retained (assuming he has any left) and then it's continues so the parry doesn't remove the space marines turn to activate just removes the dice from his pool.
Zapped through this because I have to go to bed and you anready mentioned 2 rules errors (double dash and the mistake in the mission). I love your edit and the top view, but maybe you'll redo this one later on if you find the time with correct rules? Would be interesting. Will watch this in full once I find the time.
I think if I'd had time I wouldn't of released this at all and just rerecorded it but I got a couple games at my local store in and then came back and did this one same day as it was my only free day and I didn't leave enough time to record a second one so I just went for it. Definitely a lesson in fully reading stuff beforehand though. I'd consider playing it back, would be tempted to run full stealers though for a slight change.
Thanks man, I did. If you're interested in how I made a video on it a few months back. ua-cam.com/video/nu3SGUdXsJY/v-deo.html Hope you're having a great holiday 👍
a favourite? .... man thats tough. I play grey knights generally in person but im not sure if they're my favourite. I've still not made it through all the teams yet so can't say for sure. I really enjoyed guard in the previous edition, but not given them a go yet. I like the look of Tyranids probably the most..... mmmm i'm not sure, i like the story behind Chaos. I think I probably land between Tyranids and Grey Knights as my two favourite teams but would probably have to readdress once i've gotten through all the teams. Harlequins might come out of nowhere and become my favourite after using them, Do you have a favourite?
@@GFNGaming is impossible to like only one kill team 😂. I started with deathwatch (they're just perfect for kt), so they'll anyways be my favorite. But I'm really liking CSM as well
That was my initial thought but I reread it as i was editing and got caught up on the 'retained' bit not the ''roll attack dice step' part which of course comes before the defence dice bit. I shall remember going forward
While hordes are fun, I think it’s a mistake to not take any Tyranid Warriors. They have really good weapons and the same amount of wounds as Custodes.

What a legend the seargeant is, mopping up an entire flank almost on his own!
Went on an absolute spree down that flank. Instant hero

Seriously by far the best batrep I’ve seen.. and I’ve seen many. Phenomenal production quality and visual flow. Hoping you make many more

Brilliant, concise, witty content, no indulgent bulls##t and Probably the best battle reports on UA-cam. Love the sassy demon too.

What kind of bolter is that the sergeant has? It has two barrels it looks like
I think the serg has an inferno pistol, there is a guy with a storm bolter (standing on a drone) but it's a proxy for a normal one 👍
I love how space marines feel like true beasts in this game, way more akin to the lore

I'm still learning this. Why at 14:10 did the stealer not parry all the marines attacks? Wouldn't the marine have died anyway?
You take turns resolving dice starting with the person initiating the attack. The stealer could only parry one die before the marine got his turn.
Aye, as murkglow said you take turns. That's why stormshields are so good, can remove 2 successes with a parry 🤮
