Top 10 Best Sega Games (After The Dreamcast)

- Sega's been killin' it even after their console making days despite what some people may lead you to believe. Here's 10 banger games to prove it!
Their days on the Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, and I guess in some ways the Master System/Game Gear were the hosts of some of Sega's most iconic, well-made titles. That said, I feel that many have counted them out of the race once the company went third-party, and I just find that mindset to be... What's the word... Ah yes: wrong. Sega has been killing it whether they're a first or third-party, and today we'll be focusing on their escapades throughout the latter time frame. Once the Dreamcast was said and done, what 10 games did I find to be the best? And since this is my opinion, this is completely objective. Completely unrelated note, but do you know the definition of sarcasm?

Glad I'm not the only one that feels about Outrun Coast 2 Coast.
The PC port has its usual benefits, but also readily picks up modern controller and you can adjust the sensitivity of the triggers.
It's brilliant.
I have to mention both Judgment games.
The first one is one of the best written stories I've experienced in a video game, while the second one dealt with a subject matter that hit so close to home, I was emotionally spend after the ending.
I don't want to spoil anything from both games because the best to experience them is to go in as blind as possible.
Wait... All Stars racing came out 10 years ago???? WTF?!
And funny enough i played this game the most on Vita😅... Didn't have a PC back then and the Vita version was just the console game with graphics turned down a bit. (Think Sly 4 Vita vs. Sly 4 PS3).
Hopefully this leads to no shortage of bangers from you. Great to have your videos back. Keep up the great content and keep up the awesomeness
gonna try not to leave you all hanging like that again, really appreciate the warm welcome back!
The moment you said Streets of Rage 4 had the best soundtrack of the games on the list I knew Yakuza 0 wasn't on the list, I didn't even need to wait for the honorable mentions :P
Also I was a bit surprised you didn't pick SMB Deluxe for the list since SMB1 was its own honorable mention, it even has the good minigames!
Anyways, great video Zaffre, glad to see you back on the grind. Need to hop on some of these games (especially So Long, My Love but need to play at least SW1 first :/)
LMAOOO yeah yakuza 0's ost has been heat so far, especially that first track in majima's story?? like damn! fun fact, i've actually never played deluxe haha but i don't really like how its challenge mode is set up, those things are freakin marathons! gotta emulate it at some point though, at its core i know it's still great monkey ball content. appreciate you watching man, and hope you hop on the sakura wars train soon! if you ever need help with emulation or rom files, i'm just a discord message away!
Sakura Wars would certainly be a game you would love. I highly recommend it. ^_^
Nice video i look forward to your uploads. Love your personality, keep it going
Clicked faster than dad left
even though dad left, daddy's back
Glad to see you back! It was a pleasant surprise to see you pop up in my notifications. 😊
yeah hoping to be back for a good bit! glad to see you in my comments again too!
Great to see you back Zaffre!
thanks man, great to be back!
Couldn't think of anything to say when this came out but now I'll say this was a enjoyable watch.
Another goated zaffe revo video...
I really need to try sakura wars huh?
YOU'RE BACK!!
thanks for waiting!
Zaffre back at it again with a banger lost shadow dropped out lf nowhere. My dude still makes the quality UA-cam videos amidst a things on and offline. Great job man hope you're doing well ^_^
glad you enjoyed the video! appreciate you coming through even after all this time
@ZaffreRevolution yeah your videos are great even if it did shadow drop during work. Hence why I'm just now commenting XD.
Good to have you back man. I'm curious if you've played Madworld. I know Platinum Games developed it but Sega published it so by technicality it is a Sega game
yeah madworld absolutely counts, i just haven't played it. doesn't really look like my thing but i've heard lots of good surrounding it so i may give it a shot
I will never understand why people say Sega "fell off" after they went third party... is what I want to say. But i know why people say that, because most of those people only see Sega as Sonic the Hedgehog and nothing else, and even then I'd say he's had more hits than misses after the Dreamcast's end.
I have to give a shout-out to Shining Resonance Refrain and Shining Force EXA. It's pretty popular to hate on any Shining Force game post-Saturn, but even though they aren't tactical RPGs, both aformentioned games are just such a joy.
Also, while I've watched it more than played it, I still have to mention Shinobi 2002 on PS2. It oozes style and, while the challenge is palpable, mastery makes the player look like an absolute badass
HE"S BACK!!!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Also, Streets of Rage? I see you too are one of culture :3
you already know! didn't know you played streets of rage, you're pretty cultured yourself!
My personal post-Dreamcast Sega games....
5) Super Monkey Ball (can't go wrong with simple fun)
4) Valkyria Chronicles IV (one of the GOAT strategy RPGs that's very much fantasy anime WWII)
3) Yakuza: Like a Dragon (that game series is like a big ass love letter to Sega, and it shows, even in the storytelling)
2) Sakura Wars: So Long My Love (best game in the Sakura Wars series, hands down)
1) Panzer Dragoon Orta (my favorite game in my favorite Sega game series, period)
A lot of these games are amazing & thanks for the shout out. Catherine is an all time classic in my eyes. If I have to list some of my favourite Sega games post DC besides P5 & Sonic Mania it would be the likes of Bayo 2, Catherine FB, Yakuza 0, SoR4 & Super Monkey Ball 2. I gotta pick up Outrun 2 & Orta. ^_^
based choices!! outrun and panzer dragoon as whole series are so damn good, i think you'll get a real kick out of both. hope this video gives you a little boost!
He’s back!
Curious what you think of Project X Zone games and Sakura Wars 2019
lol i think all of those games are ass. but i hope other people like them haha
One I'd definitely put on my list is Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure. You can't give me a rhythm game with banger songs, a solid story, & lovable characters all tied into a Layton-like formula & NOT have me fall in love with it. NOW GIVE US THAT SEQUEL SEGA I AM NO LONGER ASKING
ahhhh rhythm thief was a banger! if this was extended to a top 20, it'd definitely be up here
Remember palying the demo of both Project x Zone games on repeat back when I had no money. I quite liked them and been planning to finally play the full games on my modded 3DS. Are they really that bad?
i didn't like it at all haha. the gameplay is fun for like 10 minutes but it's stretched for 60 hours with repetitive, needlessly long maps that encourage next to no strategy among other things. i'd still give them a shot since your 3ds is modded to form your own opinion but i think the first game's awful and i've yet to play the second because of that haha. but again, your 3ds is modded so definitely make your own judgement!
I do agree with your list that Sakura Wars 5 deserves more love!
It's not my favorite but i like it.
YOUR BACK
glad to be back bud! thanks for sticking around
bro i was tryna study but this video was too engaging. you make it so hard for me...
mission accomplished >:) guess it was a good video
JSRF REP mades me happy but NiGHTS journey into dreams is a post dreamcast gem too!
still haven't gotten around to that one yet! gonna play it soon, though i've heard mixed things about it haha
Long-time viewer, first-commenter here! (I've watched you for like half a decade at least but I've never commented because I left always left that to my brother lol)
Sega has always been an interesting company to me ever since I found out they used to make consoles as well; it was such an enigma since I got into gaming long after Dreamcast's death
Nevertheless though this list contains a lot of games I haven't played but I've heard are bangers, and in fact I'm interested in trying out nearly every game on this list! Orta and SW5 especially seem very interesting
thanks for watching so long, and thanks for commenting! love it when long time viewers stop being shy :P for real though, i really appreciate it and hope you give these games a shot! the two you're really drawn to especially since they're a part of series to get invested in, both of which not being that long so they're prime for binging!
@@ZaffreRevolution the Panzer Dragoon binge is gonna go hard lol
ZAFFRE BACK WITH A NEW VIDEO WITH MORE SEGA STUFF
IS THE NEXT 10 ANIME COMEBACKS!!!! TRULY A REVOLUTION!!!!
lmaoooo thank you man!!
I think maimai should've been on this list, nice vid
Another banger from the Revolution himself
you already KNOW
Wish I could see your opinions on Bayonetta some day!
gotta finish it in the future. been getting into some other titles so who knows when haha
back to back sega videos it makes it seem like you're becoming a sega youtuber lol
yeah idk haha just got really inspired by them as of late. maybe i'll switch it up soon but not even i know lol
My favorite Post- cast Sega games:
Well, my actual favorites are Sonic Generations and P5R, but because those are boring answers, my other top 3 would be Streets 4, Valkyria 4, and Madworld. With So Long my Love, All stars, and Bayo 2 being right behind.
banger choices! i might need to hop onto valkyria 4, i wasn't tooooo terribly impressed with the first but if you say it's better, imma hop on
Alien Isolation?
Can the real Zaffre please stand up
I've never heard of sakura wars, but I have to play it.
phenomenal strategy game. so long my love is a great gateway, but if you can get saturn emulation going, the fan translation of the first game is an even better place to start
Do the Company of Heroes games count as Sega anymore?
i'd count them!
He's BAAAACK BABY!!! WHOAAA!!
*Zaffre shows up, drops a banger, then leaves.*
My guy, how do you accomplish this feat?
hey man you know me, gotta keep yall on your toes :P glad you liked the video man, can't wait for more on your end too!
I'll never undestand Puyo Puyo as much as I can't understand the parody of said game in the Trails series, Pom Pom Party. Every time I win in that minigame I think it was always because of some dumb luck rather than skill.
i had a really hard time understanding it too, but it was something i really wanted to get good at. super rewarding once you figure it out, and i'd say puyo puyo tetris is the best way to get into it, solely based off the fact that it was how i did lol
Extremely based choices all around! But I think there's even more than this worth checking out!
oh absolutely! drop some of your favs i didn't mention and i'll probably queue them up! been loving this company's work since they went third party
So it's funny that the most readily avaialble sequel to Valkyria Chronicles 1 (in 4) pretty much answers every reason why you didn't put 1 on the list. Also yeah Sakura Wars always rules
that's really great to hear, i think i'll give it a shot. was really let down by 1 at first but like i said, it's been growing on me. but imma give 4 a shot i think that one will be really good off the rip
THE GOAT ZAFFRE HAS RETURNED
ayyyyy you know it!
Wish SEGA could make another new console, or at least a Dreamcast Mini.
still holding out for a saturn mini!
What about house of the dead overkill? For me, thats the best game in the series, the wii version had better animation, but ps3 has more content. Have you play that game zafre?
i sure did! only haven't played scarlet dawn all the way through. wasn't crazy about overkill, i thought it kinda dragged near the end but the beginning of the game had me laughing my ass off. can definitely see the appeal but i prefer the more arcade-y approach of the main games!
Wish they port (and not remake) all House of the Dead games.
W...Wait Zaffre, Project X Zone does not suck it... it's experimental! *runs away from the obvious*
And for real, even though the first game is really... Weirdly paced, the second one is far better. Would not call it a masterpiece or deserving to be on any other list than "Funky crossover game" but hey, it's still.... Enjoyable?
i'd be open to giving it a shot but my problems with the first game run deep into its general designs that i fear i wouldn't enjoy the sequel regardless. i should probably make a video about it at some point haha i hear negativity tends to do well on this site
@@ZaffreRevolution I do agree with you and to be honest, I thought the same thing when picking up the second game.
But it's actually far better paced than the first one and the cast is much more likeable this time around. Maybe I'm kind of biased because there was an actual translation in more languages (English is not my first language), Phoenix Wright was in it and it's also way more a sequel of Namco X Capcom than Project X Zone (the protagonists of the first game are barely mentioned and never appear in XZone 2)
I'm sorry if this seems a bit insistent, I just feel like you are in the exact same spot as I was after playing the first one, and I do think that the second is way better.
And hey, Yuri and Flynn are a duo this time...! Its huuuh... Better right..?
(also I would really love to see your opinions about X Zone 1, because I feel that barely anyone is talking about this game, so hum yeah I would gladly watch any video on the series if you plan to make one. )
