'I love Tyson Fury': Oleksandr Usyk hopes postponed bout will happen in February

- Oleksandr Usyk has said he hopes his long-awaited world heavyweight unification bout against Tyson Fury will happen in February.

Usyk, who holds the IBF, WBO and IBO belts, had been due to fight WBC champion Fury in Saudi Arabia on 23 December, but the fight has been pushed back to February following the Briton's alarming display against MMA fighter Francis Ngannou last month. After his struggles in that fight, in which Fury was knocked down, his team contacted Usyk to postpone, although an exact date in February has yet to be confirmed. On the scheduling, Usyk said: "I’m not 100% sure. I will be sure when I’m in the ring. I will stand in one corner, Tyson Fury will stand in the opposite corner, between us a referee in a white shirt, and only when I hear the sound of a bell - that’s when I’ll understand that yes, the game is on."

Usyk is the best and Fury knows it otherwise he'd have got in the ring with him already. This isn't a difficult fight to make happen, Fury has just made it difficult.

How can you not be a fan of usyk? I used to think Tyson fury was the greatest but to see how he has become! So disrespectful to the sport only interested in more money and being abusive to his opponents and embarrassing to his nation….Fury in my opinion lost this fight a long time ago!

man...the francis fight really put the hype for this fight down...still excited, but in my mind, tyson was the best heavyweight we've seen in a while - its hard to see him that way now...perhaps guys like francis are his kryptonite, negating all of his best attributes, and he will destroy usyk...but i doubt it now
Everyone knows at this point that if Tyson Fury fought Oleksandr Usyk it would be the worst career mistake in the history of boxing. It would be a modern-day beat down the likes of Jack Dempsey vs Jess Willard. Like Usyk said, "I'll be ready when the bell rings." In the meantime, we have AI, video games, and our imaginations to imagine the fight of these two undefeated champions.
