- Welcome to my 'Monday Memories' where I hope to share a personal story about my interaction with or my inspiration about filming these the singers/bands I'm sharing with you...I now have over 1300 videos to choose from...I'm looking forward to digging up some memorable performances and hidden gems to share with everyone, once again! Why I chose this video is it demonstrates the inclusivity and brotherhood of 'live music' between Jamaican singers/musicians and visitors who like to share their talent on stage with all the great musicians who reside in and around Negril...the musicians are flawless in their endeavour to treat the guests with the best music possible.
The Boat Bar is 'must see' whenever you're in Negril. Otis Gayle (the host) has some of the finest musicians backing him up. They include Banga on drums, Dachy on bass, Knoxley Nunes on keyboards and many, many guest singers/musicians. Also, I'm a big fan of Frank Aird, the trumpet player. He's the finest, most intense and at times, a pain in the butt...trumpet player in Jamaica. He's worth watching and listening to... And, come see Pinky Dread perform...he may be the finest singer in all of Negril.
Otis Gayle use to play with the legendary Byron Lee & the Dragonaires in the good old days…his orignal name was Leroy Gayle, but when he sang so many Otis Redding songs, people just naturally called him Otis.
The Boat Bar has a regular gig/jam session every Monday-Wednesday-Friday afternoon with Otis Gayle and guests from 2pm to 6pm on the beach ...all musicians/singers from around the world can join in with the band...its one of my favourite place to enjoy live Reggae music.
What i'd give to be sat in that bar listening to this with a cold beer and the hot sun.Superb

@@garyasselstine Of course! Thanks for the reply, I recognized Frank as soon as I heard him. It is to bad that his friend and fellow musician Earlock passed away a few years ago. When I was there they where such a hoot to hang around with on the beach.
