it seems like these parents 100% think their kids "owe them something" because the parents brought the kids into the world. obviously, the kids don't owe their parents anything for existing.
also, robin needs more positive subreddits!!

There was a reddit story a few years ago... an adult woman told her mother she couldn't help her mother's friends to do errands... and to please stop telling them she's available... well... mother told her to go help a person, she refused... and the next time she got back from her BF's place... her mother had her car towed to her mother's place.
Obviously, the daughter went to confront her mother about the stolen car... and her mother tore up daughter's driver's license as well. Daughter, as the 23 year old adult she was, called the police. The police arrest the mother for grand theft and destruction of government property (driver's licenses were state owned property apparently).
During trial... the mother's defence was "I asked my daughter to do something. She refused. I took away her car as punishment." It wasn't until the prosecutor pointed out that the "daughter" in question was 23, lived on her own, owned the title and the insurance of the vehicle, before the defence attorney convinced the mother to take a plea deal.
The Judge, with advice from the daughter, decided to sentence the mother to 100 hours of community service, a fine (for the license she destroyed), and mandatory parenting classes. :D

Not so small... "she's my daughter, she needs to do what I tell her to do." *Shrugs*
Yes, that's the entitlement. She was always "volunteering" her daughter's time... as a 23 year old adult... her mother's friends aren't her responsibility, right?
The daughter was very smug in convincing the Judge to send her mother to parenting classes, lol.

@@aralornwolf3140 when I said something small, I meant that it wasn't a HUGE deal that the daughter didn't want to do what her mom was making her do, even if the daughter was okay with doing it at some point. obviously, the mom shouldn't have acted as if the daughter was ALWAYS going to want to do something like that 100% of the time. but yeah, the mom had zero right to do what she did. the car was in the daughter's name and the daughter was already living on her own, so the mom was way out of line for behaving like that tbh.

      @@arcticxabyss,
If you ask your kid to do something, repeatedly, and they don't... do _you_ take away something they desire so they learn the lesson?
I mean, that's the mother's thought process... her friend was waiting for her daughter to show up... and her daughter was late and wasn't able to be reached.. so her friend was forced to pay for a taxi/uber. That's probably why the mother was so upset with her daughter enough to commit grand theft auto.
On the other hand... mother was pretty narcissistic... We can agree on that, lol.
      Have a good day!

Like for example... my mother is the type who punishes kids for being sick... by taking their electronics and fun things. She did that today while I had a cold, and usually she wouldn't take the phone, but tell me not to use it. Today when I told her (because she kept on saying it was just allergies), I tell her it wasn't and I had all symptoms of a cold and I've bad a sore throat for more than a week that only got worse... of course her and her ego took that poorly and she decided to not just take my phone but even my TV remotes, which she's never done. She made me feel like I was living in a prison today, and I was lucky i was able to swipe up my laptop so I could at least cope with some music or these very emkay videos. And she complains about me isolating myself...

I'd rather feed the homeless thanks. Anyways... she told me she didn't want to get anything, but then changes her mind and expects ME to pay for HER food when she said she didn't want any. Being half stoned it's hard for me to contain my real feelings deep down and thought this situation was stupid, as it had me baffled, and when I explained calmly to her exactly what I was seeing, her wanting me to buy her stuff when she said she didn't want anything, she got mad at me for basically talking back even though I wasn't even trying to start an argument more so as stand up for myself and not let her rob me... she did end up paying for her stuff i guess but still it was stupid, plus she made this last minute choice at the window so the total was changed and I felt second hand embarrassment so yay... parents are SO COOL.

I got a phone when I turned 12, and for about three years, the location tracker on it was absolutely pointless. If I left the house, I was going to school or with my friend's parents. it only became worthwhile sometime when I was 15, when one of my friends could drive and we would go down the street to get tacos together.
all in all, I'd say it's pretty normal to have a location tracker on your kid's phone when they're 12-15, especially when they're driving alone for the first time. but it needs to be weaned off at some point.
that's what my parents can't grasp. starting in the eleventh grade, my parents decided I was going to be driving to school. fine by me, it's a two and a half mile drive that I never even need to perform a lane change on.
I was 16 at that point, at my parents never stepped back and re-evaluated the location tracker. they even kept driving reports on, so they would see a report of my fastest speed reached, and when my father greeted me at home, he would scold me if I was reported going faster than 45. y'all... the fastest speed limit on my route was 50.
I turned 18 and was about ready to head upstate to college. I'd been taking my thirteen year old friend to teen church with me for some time, and it was the last week that I was eligible. I wanted to do something special for her, and decided to take her to get slushies after church. I told my mom and her mom ahead of time. on the way, my friend asked if we could stop by walgreens so she could buy a gift card. it was directly on an intersection that I had to drive by anyways, so I agreed, and we were there for ten-ish minutes. by the time we were getting back in the car, my mother was already calling asking what we were doing and why I was at walgreens. really? this conversation couldn't have waited until I got home? and did it really have to exist in the first place?
several assorted times, they've accused me of lying about where google maps directed me because the route they followed me taking wasn't the one they preferred. my navigation skills are awful and I always drive with navigation software, and these were trips with no stops and nothing special on the way, i.e. not a trip where taking a different route benefitted me at all.
during my first year of college, I made a few upperclassmen friends and was still the only one in the group with a car. I even told my mother that I was taking them somewhere or else completely mundane, and she seemed fine with it. but then she waited until I was driving to VIDEO CHAT ME, because she wanted to "meet my new friends".
another time, I went to Walmart on a weeknight, and arrived back around 9:30 at night. while it was dark, I was accompanied by a friend. I was then scolded for "being out late".
one of my classes got moved to zoom when my professor got sick, and 15 minutes into class, my mother calls me, demanding to know why I'm skipping class. her first assumption wasn't even that I got sick, or that class was cancelled or moved, it was that I was skipping. I told her I was in class and she called me a liar. even once I convinced her, her reaction wasn't to say "sorry for bothering you" or anything else logical, it was to press me for details about how much notice I had and what platform my professor used to notify me.
after all of this... I was exhausted one weekend and didn't feel like navigating ten flights of stairs after the elevator broke. I got back from classes Friday and didn't leave until church on Sunday afternoon. my mom texted me before church time..scolding me for "holing up" all weekend.
yeah, i'm 19 now and in my second year of college. currently working on growing a spine.

Cause lets be honest, half of the older generation couldn’t use a tv remote unless every button was labeled and had subsections, much less introduce them to the internet. They don’t know what they’re saying, they don’t know the difference between fact or fiction. When I showed my mom something that upset me over the internet, she says, “well, send them a message! Tell them to stop contacting you! Or just get off the internet!”

Homeschooling is common. I've seen far-right comments about pulling their kids out of school and teaching them their beliefs and propaganda

@@skootergirl22 sry I guess I wasn't clear on what I meant. Children here get tested to check their progress if they are homeschooled. If the child can't pass the test, they will be forced to attend a school again the following year.

My mom, who was terrible, told me once that since she wasn’t the one seeing a psychiatrist I must be wrong. She’d often say that I’m crazy, so she should make decisions for me. Anyway, I blocked her and she’s dead now. Life is much nicer without her.

As a math homeschooled christian, i am very confused by the homeschooled god math thing.
As a normal person with a functioning brain, i am also very confused by the homeschooled god math thing.

I am thankful that my parents are loving and intelligent. Even if I’m 15(going-on 16 as of typing), I still take time to thank them and express my love for them every day. They are kind, generous, understanding, and compromising. For me to ask for anything better than them would be foolish.
Even if this video shows that some parents’ actions are not worthy of raising children, please take time to appreciate the ones who are. Though, this video is fully justified to call the wrong ones out, don’t get me wrong.
May karma forgive the people here who had to deal with these in the end. (And since this is a Reddit video, I must specify; I mean “Karma” by both definitions).

11:58 last time i checked, the standard practice for job hunting is that the recruiter will call you IF THEY WANT TO HIRE YOU. otherwise, they were, are, and prolly will always be, masters of ghosting potential employees. it pjsses me off to no end X(

Idk why but I relate to some of these (IM 11 BTW) and here’s a silly funny short story I have: I was on vacation with my full family + my aunt and uncle and my dad thought it would be funny to POUR WATER ON MY HEAD (everyone laughed at me and I cried)

I had a moment where my dad wanted me to buy a pack of Kool aid where I used to work, I told him "no, let's just wait until my mom comes home cause it's cheaper where she works". He told me again to buy it but this time brought my sister into this. I told him to just wait another hour until she gets home. Then he pulls out "Fine, I only wanted you to be a good sister."

As someone who always 'lucked out' to have their class on the morning shift (apart from 1 year where we switched every 2 weeks to make feel the unfairness 😢 that someone had the luxury all the time) and never been a morning person coffee is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY. While never having the audacity to just blatantly sleep in class would only kind of emerge from the haze by the third period without it (or later if sleep schedule was somewhat disturbed), to be capable of emerging from the autopilot mode and paying at least some attention.
