A 63 acre complex, the Village at Grand Traverse Commons is one of the coolest places to live, work, and play in Michigan. One of the largest historic preservation and adaptive reuse developments in the country, it is a self contained community just outside of Traverse City, with great shops, great restaurants, and really cool living spaces.

My grandmother lived, was admitted, stayed, was housed, not exactly what the correct term to use is. But we visited her from time to time and picked her up for a "weekend fur-low" from time to time when allowed. I went to the main building one day out of curiosity and walked through the halls and shops. Given my experience there, I found it a bit creepy and surreal. I think it is a great idea to re-purpose the grounds and buildings, not sure I could live there however.

My aunt got her Nursing degree at Traverse Asylum.
