Not All Victories Lead To The Podium

If you are one of the 168 people who saw our Ninja Strong! Post last week then you know that Alex is recovering from a knee injury he got during gym class. There is never a good time for an injury but this week is the one and only chance to qualify for the WNAG world championship.
Every year they create a standardized course format that is implemented by dozens of gyms around the world. Only the #1 finisher from each gym qualifies to move on. The Lightning Ninja was up against the best in Southern California so being hampered by an injury all but guaranteed he wouldn’t top the podium.
At first we thought we would have to pull out of the competition but the pain subsided in a few days and he was getting around well in his brace, so last week we drove two hours each way so he could test out the course. He was able to get a full clear within the seven minute time cap, without any pain, so we decided to let him compete. Not only did he get a full clear when the pressure was on but he shaved nearly 1.5 minutes off of his first practice run!
Not once did I see him get mad or sad about the missed opportunity to bring his A game. He just cinched up his brace and went out there and did his thing. To say I’m proud of him hardly begins to cover it.

PS - The Lightning Ninja missed third place by 11 seconds!
