Knife has a SECRET feature in the rear of knife, a blade scraper function. The blade “clicks” into place when pushed into place against a hard surface. I found to just let gravity retract the blade when pointed upward vs physically pulling back with your thumb. There is a learning curve to operate but easy to master. Agreed thin and light weight not for heavy duty cutting like you mentioned.
come on... realistically this is not intended for "hard use" or construction work. It's a gadget for the kitchen junk drawer. Honestly, I wish it were smaller and they did not add the stupid bottle opener. I might pick one up on sale and cut off the back half of it...
