It's been a year, and yet I'm sure it's felt an eternity for the families of these people. Rest in peace to those we lost, and a continuing recovery to the survivors. We all remain Humboldt Strong.
I've never met these boys but I still find myself listening to this song once a day. It was such a terrible situation. I hope someday these families and everyone affected can see these young men again in heaven 💛💚💛💚💛💚💛
Darren Puppa hey Darren thank you for the comment. I hope for the same thing.

Darren Puppa haha i disliked this vid for fun!
Future Hendrix seems like a fun thing to do
I listen to this beautiful song at least once a day as well. With sons who are hockey players (one playing for a Jr hockey team out of state), I can’t image the pain these families feel every day. Thank you for this song Smitty Kingston....a beautiful tribute!
Wonder if I'll ever get through this song without the tears. But even though there are tears every time, I can't stop listening to it
Such a sad yet beautiful song, brings tears to me too!
I talked to my seven year old grandson who was in his second year playing hockey a few days after the crash and he asked, "Hey Pop Pop, did you put your sticks outside your door?".
"Yeah, Bear", I said as I choked back tears, "I put the sticks out". Still chokes me up to this day. Him and me still put our sticks out.
I have my stick outside my barracks door at USMMA right now. I hope all the families affected know we as a hockey community still stand by you.
Kristof Vitok thank you so much
I lost my son Tim 2 years on May 3rd. He was 38. The Humboldt accident happened the day before, what would have been Tims 40th birthday so I was emotionally distraught anyway. When I heard about this tragedy, my reaction was almost similar to the day I got the knock on the door. All I wanted to do was get on a plane, fly to Humboldt and wrap my arms around everyone affected. Oh how my heart aches, especially for the mom's and dad's knowing first hand the long road ahead of them. I commend them for their strength. I realize that not only did they lose their own sons and daughter, but all the other hockey players who were probably like a 2nd son or daughter to them. When I read the note below re listening to Smitty Kingstons song everyday I too listen to it often. Somehow it gives me comfort so I can imagine how his song helped all those affected. Thank you Smitty Kingston. To the survivors, I am keeping up with your remarkable recoveries and the courage and strength you continue to demonstrate throughout this difficult time. I wanted to do something so I sent the following message by Facebook to my son in Heaven. "Timmy, please wrap your big arms around the 16 victims of the Humboldt bus tragedy. They need you." Tim was a bodybuilder and a gentle giant and I can envision him looking out for them. My thoughts and prayers will always be with you..... Catherine Rafuse, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
I find myself listening to this song at least once a day #HugsForHumboldt I'm from Jaxon josephs, parker Tobin's, Stephen wack's and Logan hunters area we just had a big celebration of life for them inside Rogers place here in Edmonton it was absolutely beautiful and the amount of support was so heart warming
bluedestroyer87 playing that day on that stage was hard for me but I’m glad I did..💚💛💚
I bet, but it was beautiful and im sure the families really appreciated it. Much love man and keep going with the music. :)
bluedestroyer87 playing that day was one of the hardest things I’ve done but I’m truly grateful I did
bluedestroyer87 with one year coming in a couple days maybe people will still embrace the song and it will continue to help folks heal. Xox
It's almost been three years and I'm still crying every time and I can't imagine the pain, but I pray for them each day so God will comfort the families and survivors . Forever #Humboldtstrong 💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚

aww this brought tears to my eyes
BEAUTIFUL SMITTY,, CRYIN AGAIN!!
My dad passes away about 9 months ago and he was really into hockey and that was passed on to my sister and I. When i listen to this song i imagine that he's with them organizing/ playing a game.
“We left a stick out on the front step and signed all your names,
Turned the porch light on just in case you wanted one more game,
There’s no referees or scoreboards and the periods never end
Use the clouds as an ice rink while you play with all your friends
Hey mom and dad, well I made it to the show
You always told me that I would so don’t you worry anymore
I’ve got my teammates by my side, so you don’t have to cry
Just promise me one last thing: you’ll leave the light on, and put my stick out by the door
All the hotel hallway games we played or Slapshot on the bus
There wasn’t anything in this world what meant this much to us
We’ll use your tears to flood the ice, and your prayers to keep us warm
This won’t be our last game, we’re still Humboldt strong.
Hey mom and dad, well I made it to the show
You always told me that I would so don’t you worry anymore
I’ve got my teammates by my side, so you don’t have to cry
Just promise me one last thing: you’ll leave the light on, and put my stick out by the door.”

Humboldt Strong
I’m not crying, you’re crying 😭😭😭
To quote Stompin Tom Connors, the good old hockey game is the best game you can name, and the best game you name is the good old hockey game.
What a shame. Not the biggest tragedy in the world by millions but something about it makes it so sad. And I mean it in a sincere way
10 out of 10

Hockey share a bond among each other that's special. There's nothing you can compare it to. And if a single member of this family goes through a hard time, everyone feels with him.
This tragedy hit the whole family. And a year after, it's not forgotten. Neither are the 16, who didn't make it. We all grieve for you.
HIt the boards up there
This song is the only reason I Subscribed 😉 💚💛

Beautiful, poignant song and sentiment. I feel like I know all these people now - the 16 in Heaven and the 13 putting their lives back together. Most dearly, the parents, family and friends of the Humboldt Broncos players, staff announcer and the bus driver. May God Bless them all. Also you, Smitty, what a wonderful tribute. 🏒💖
